Went to Big 5 for some shoes. There's an employee in the shoe section, and he just stares at you and doesn't want to help. Went to pay for the shoes, and the cashier was rude and unpolite. I asked him if that guy worked here, and he said yes. I continued to say why he didn't ask if we needed help, and he had the nerve to say you have to ask for help. Why do I have to ask for help? I am the customer, and he just had a bad attitude. He proceeded to cuss me out, and he said he was smarter than me. I told him he can't be that smart he works at Big 5. The manager told me to get the F out! No wonder no one is ever in that store. read more

I don't normally go to Big 5 as they have cheap products, but they had some items we needed on sale, so I went over. I had coupons for the items I bought. Unfortunately, the cashier didn't use them, and I wound up paying full price. I wanted to go back but I live far from the store. It's a constant reminder of why I don't frequent Big 5. The service here is 5 stars, The inventory is 3 stars and probably not their fault so let's say this is a 4 star location. We went to this location to pick up softball gear for my granddaughter after we went to Walmart and and found nothing there. We were very happy with the selection they had although it was minimum we were able to get everything we needed. The staff that were working last night, Tuesday April 12th we're very helpful and friendly. Went there to look for a pair of basketball shoes. I didn't have super high hopes, but like I expected, their selection was TINY and they didn't have my size available for any of their nicer shoes ( 10.5 ). The guy that worked in sales in the shoes section was very nice and helpful, but I ended up walking out shoeless and will be going to the mall. I love this little hidden gem! It's always seemed like such a strange location to me, but I've found some great deals in here, and it's super close to my house. If I am looking for new shoes or a sports bra or running shorts or something, I will stop in Big 5 and cruise their clearance racks to see if I can find a good deal. It's so close to my house that I don't feel like I am going out of my way. If I don't find what I need, no big deal. Comparing prices with Dick's or Sports Chalet, I don't see any big differences. Although, I don't fish or camp or ski....it's all hit or miss. It is a small store, yes. The location should be a dead giveaway about the number of employees that will be working at any given time. I've always received friendly service and as I said, it's convenient, so I will continue to stop by if I need something. It's a lot easier than driving over to the Galleria! read more

I went in to get a wood bat. The store is almost empty and with 2 people in there that had no clue about any of the baseball equipment. Well as you can guess the wood bat broke right away and this store won't take it back even if it broke the same day. They definitely know the quality of their merchandise (terrible). I get that a wood bat has a chance to break but my son has played baseball for many years and knows how to use a wood bat so that was not a factor in the break. Big 5 has let me down before and I should have drove the extra 12 minutes to Dick's Sporting Goods. If you need anything sporting good related, don't go to Big 5. Their merchandise is not much lower if at all and their quality is definitely inferior. What's worse is their customer service is terrible too. You've been warned. read more

We have frequented this store a few times, none of which was a good experience. We received flyers in the mail about a sale for shoes near school time. We went, we looked, we walked away!!! Quality is so, so, service is less so, and if you were to purchase something the line is WAY too long. Two registers, one cashier, (not quite as bad as the post office, (10-windows, 2-workers at Christmas time). With a tween we had shopped for bb guns, but found that even Bass Pro has better pricing and fantastic service. (Walmart was $7.00 less on the same item) Price is one thing, but quality and the hassle of a return would be something else. read more

Came in to get some steeled toe boots for work, great selection, always have great sales. Ended up getting 109.99 $ work boots for 65$, running shoes for 39 that were 79, dickies for 14.99 ( which never happens in all the years I've been wearing em) and some as one camelback tac bags. Staff was extremely patient, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and some overall really make the shopping experience there that much better.. one of my biggest pet peeves is lurking salesmen and they don't do that at all but are there the minute you need help. Very glad we stumbled into the store in search of work boots for my new job. We will definitely be back and keep an eye on their sales. read more

I came here just for hiking boots. As the weather warms up, it's time to get outside and see if the hills really are alive with music. My Yelp hiking guru, Norm K., said he shops Big 5 for his stuff and that's good enough for me. They have quite a selection of hiking shoes and boots at all price points. Norm says he doesn't like to spend too much, which is good, because neither do I, especially since I'm no hiking expert. I came here on my work lunch break, so I was the only customer, which meant I had lots of attention from the young employees. The guys were friendly and didn't mind going back to the stockroom three different times as I tried on boots. I settled on a waterproof pair that were on sale for $24.99 and also scored some hiking pants (SPF 30!) that were also on sale. I walked out of there having spent less than $56 in total; I'm ready for them there hills now. Let's go, Norm! read more

Horrible experience at this big 5 location. Probably the worst customer service ever. If anyone would like to know what shitty service is like then head over to this big 5. Waited for 15 minutes to look at the guns while the manager and his employee sat around and bullshited. Not to mention no one else was in the store. Finally after getting somewhat help from the manager he showed hardly any interest in helping us. To be honest, he kind of came off as a complete asshole. Get your shit together big 5..he should be outside spinning signs, not managing a store. The main things that get me in the door at Big 5 is shoes and Spenco shoe inserts. Big 5 runs some great deals on shoes from time to time, and while I'm in there I'll pick up a few odds and ends. On some of their camping stuff they have a pretty hefty markup so knowing your prices and comparison shopping can keep you from overspending. But all in all they do carry some things REI doesn't, and they've made my supply list for sporting goods and Burning Man needs. read more

I tried to return a damaged baseball bat that was under warranty. When I arrived at the store the cashier explained it would be no problem to return it and to go find the original and a replacement. When I went to check out a different cashier said that she does not work for Easton, and explained she wasn't going to exchange the bat and was very rude. I'm glad I wasted 20 minutes. read more

I am into shooting, hunting, fishing and wasting my money on tactical looking stuff. I have never bought anything from big5. I have been to this location multiple times trying to find anything that I would not need to buy online and found nothing. I asked the firearm clerk if they carried streamlight flashlights the last time I was there and he had a look on his face like he had never heard of that brand before, nor did he know of surefire but that is Big 5s fault. The inventory at every Big 5 I have ever been to is terrible which is why i have never bought anything from them. I am not sure how long they can stay in business with stores full of inventory that no one wants. Starting to remind me of radioshack but without the cell phone contracts to keep them afloat. read more

Just left the store very upset. Calling corporate. Went in to look at knives n a small pellet or air soft gun...nobody came to give service. They were busy talking. When I asked for service was shown a knife, then after finding one he walked off rudely it hour saying a word. I still wanted to purchase a gun!!! Left in utter disgust. read more
