I had a great time trying out SUP. I've been meaning to go for years but haven't had time. It was a calming and peaceful experience...eventhough it got windy at times but hey, that just means more core exercise! The day I wanted to go with a friend of mine, I called Kathy but she said it was too windy for SUP so, I tried my luck the next day. It's something you can't control. Kathy was prompt with replies and calling me back. So, you pay at the boutique inside the hotel to the right of concierge where you also sign a waiver. And if you forgot your sunnies, flips flops, sunblock, board shorts, tank/shirt or a cap - you can purchase from here. They also sell boards and paddles. I went down to the beach and met up with an instructor. She told me the basics and I started paddling away. So fun! I'll definitely be back!

    Amazing Sunset Paddle

My family has been using Paddle to the Core for over 2 years. We take friends and family out as a group. They meet you at your destination with everything that you need. Their concern for your safety is of utmost importance to you. Every experience and destination that they suggest has been above and beyond what we expect. In fact, this company is such a gem, I'm not sure I want to share it with the world. LOL. You will not be disappointed. Kathy has shared her services in ways during this Covid19 season of life that has brought healing to me in allowing us to get out on the water and experience SUP. Thank you, Kathy and Christian

Paddle to the Core is the place to be to beat the Vegas summer temps! I have tried it 2x and wish I had more time to have returned before moving. You can call ahead to reserve a spot or simply show up. Cash/Cards are accepted. There's a place to put wallets/purses/keys while you're on the water. If you're like my lovely lady and trying it for the first time, it can be intimidating but that's just to get the technique down. All of the staff will assist and give intros on proper stance and what to do before setting off into the open lake. As one said to me, "you'll only get soaked if you want to" It's so relaxing once you're on the open water and if you're comfortable enough you can kneel down and sit on the board. Rentals generally last an hour but who's counting on the water? Either way, they usually send an employee out to find you. The only concern is to avoid windy days or late afternoons. It's just you and the board and it can feel like an episode from "I shouldn't be alive" if it gets too choppy. That was my first experience and I thought I would never reach shore again! And when checking it out pick up a returners card for discounted rates on your subsequent follow up trips. Happy SUP! (Stand up paddle boarding)

I moved back to Las Vegas from California recently; yes voluntarily too, I know crazy :) Determined to stay connected to the water, I was happy when I discovered Paddle to the Core, Las Vegas' newest Stand Up Paddle shop now opened at the Village at Lake Las Vegas. Kathy, the owner, is amazing with so much passion for this new water sport taking the world by storm. She has an amazing selection of boards you can rent or buy plus she offers yoga classes, full moon paddle sessions and you can even bring your dog with you on the board. If you complain there is nothing to do in Las Vegas, you must, must try this place! And at the same, you get to support a small start up business. Thank you Kathy for opening! It is so great to have you here in Las Vegas!!

My boyfriend, friend and her husband wanted to get outside and get some exercise but it's hot in the Vegas heat. So we decided we'd try kayaking. We found Kathy at Paddle to the Core. She is fantastic! So friendly and accommodating. She brought the kayaks out to Willow beach where we met her. She was early and had all the equipment we needed. In fact, she had brand new kayaks and paddles with the tags still on. She went over how to use the equipment, a nice refresher as we'd all gone before. She provided us with lap lap preserves which were much more comfortable than the vests. The price was excellent and we spent 4 hours on the water exploring the canyon. We had such a fun day and I would, and will, recommend Paddle to the Core to my friends. Thanks Kathy!

    Sandy beach, lake mead

Catherine the owner is really nice. So is her funny cute dog chance. That aside its it convenient location on the way to the lake to pick up this equipment. Either thru boulder city or down lake mead drive to get to callvillebay as i did. Flexible easygoing local business. I had fun

Thank you Kathy for a great paddle boarding experience!

This was my first experience with stand up paddleboarding. I had always wanted to try it because it looked like a calming and tranquil activity yet involves some degree of fitness. I was amazed at how quickly a person acclimates to the balance required on the board. In about 20 minutes I was comfortably navigating myself on the water. I credit that largely to my instructor Kathy, who proved to be the best introduction that I could ask for to the sport. She was attentive, patient and eager to answer all of my questions. My paddleboarding experience took place on Lake Mead, which was a beautiful location, set among the mountains. Kathy also provided me some history of the area, which was a nice bonus. I ended my lesson wishing I could do it again. And I definitely plan to. Thank you Kathy!

    Great Day on the Water!

I was holding and comparing 2 sets for about 5 minutes. A couple of the employees even looked my way. Too bad they didn't come over because they just lost a sale to Golf Galaxy. I headed over the same day and purchased a new iron set with fitting. I tried to give you business, but I guess your golf shop was either too "busy" or maybe thought that someone like me wasn't a serious buyer. Whatever the reason, I definitely won't be back.

I was kinda disappointed in the selection that was actually on sale. There were maybe 2-3 pairs from each brand on sale out of the dozens of options. Still, I looked them over and had an idea of the ones I wanted. The salesperson, Yancey, came over to help. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We talked about the pros and cons of multiple pairs, taking my specific needs into account. I felt satisfied with my selection and made the purchase. As a giant chain store, they have equipment and clothing for almost all of your athletic needs. I really most appreciated the service. That's what would bring me back here. Go see Yancey next time you need some athletic shoes!

I grew up in Vegas and have been on this river a ton by boat, and I've also hiked to both Gold Strike and Arizona Hot Springs. Those hikes are super rewarding but honestly brutal. This experience was completely different in the best way. Being able to get out of the river and be steps away from hot springs was amazing, and the views from the water are hands down the best. We met the team bright and early at 5:30am for launch, and everything was super smooth. They shuttled us, got us fitted for life jackets, handled waivers, and gave a quick safety rundown. Launch timing is strict because of the park service, but they made it feel easy and not stressful at all. Definitely be on time, though, because due to this strict timing, they will leave without you. The kayaks were such a game-changer. They were longer touring kayaks with foot-controlled rudders, dry storage, and actual back support. Super comfortable for me and somehow also worked great for my 6'2" husband (he had a larger boat). Since it was just the two of us, our guide Holmes customized the whole day to our pace. He took us to hidden spots I had never seen before, even as a local, and helped us avoid crowds. We did some hiking, rock scrambling, used ropes at Boy Scout Canyon, and explored hot springs that you can only get to from the river. It felt adventurous but still very safe, and he gave great tips the whole time. He also knew so much about the area. History of the Hoover Dam, plants, wildlife, etc. I learned a ton - even as someone who felt familiar with the area. This is exactly why I'm glad we didn't just rent kayaks. Having a guide made it feel like a next-level experience. We got to relax more while he handled the route and found the best spots. We got lucky with perfect early April weather. No wind, super glassy water, and we could see fish deep in the water. The 12 miles honestly felt way easier than expected, especially with how well Holmes guided us through the current so we could just float and chill a lot of the time. They also packed a great lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. You really just need a sun shirt, hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, water shoes, and sunscreen. They take care of the rest. Even though we leaned a little more adventurous, I could totally see this being doable for beginners, too. You don't need to be super athletic to enjoy it. Pickup and cleanup were easy and seamless. They handled everything while I grabbed a snack and relaxed, which honestly made it feel even more special. This was such a cool experience, and I would 100% do it again. Already recommending it to friends, and I would definitely consider doing the overnight version next time.
