Stopped by on a whim Sunday evening looking for an item I happened to see online. I couldn't find it but the staff went out of their way to help me locate it. Their inventory said they had 5 in stock and they were so helpful in scouring the store to find it. Many thanks to the staff particularly the woman who I assumed was the manager on duty. She found it but also called another store to put it on hold in case we were unable to locate the item. I rarely shop at Big 5 but will add it to my list because of the amazing service I received. read more

Covid-19 phase: The gym just opened and you can't use their mats. I came here to buy one. The worker was nice and showed me where they were located. They had a cute turquoise one. The worker had a mask on and a mask is required in the store. The store is clean and organized. Bought the mat and left. Simple. They have a lot of other good stuff too! Great service and good stuff! No public bathroom for customers. I get not letting just anyone use the bathroom, but no bathroom for people who are easily spending hundreds of dollars in your store is ridiculous. I went here looking for snow boots and they had some for the whole family. This store is disorganized probably due to the high volume of people that go through there. There was a good price for many things must be a sale going on for Presidents day. They had guns, soccer,basketball,baseball, and other sport equipment. The staff was kinda short but there was some one at the cashier. Over all this store has a great selection of Sporting equipment. We just really have to dig for the specific one you want and for a specific size. I was able to get the snow boots and clothes for my whole family and it just so happened to be on discount so I was pleased with being able to go in and get that because I could not find it nowhere else. I did have to visit that store two times in order to find everything I needed and get the right size for everybody in my family. Quick in and out. I stopped in to get an air mattress that was in the weekly ad. I was actually surprised they still had what I wanted when today is Saturday and the ad had been out since Sunday. I went into buy about $100 worth Crosman BB's to fill a weighted vest. As soon as I entered the store an employee greeted me (which was great) and then another employee asked me where my face covering was. I told him I didn't have one and he looked astonished. He asked the cashier if they had any extra and I told him thanks, but I'm not wearing one. The employee then explained that anyone not wearing a mask could not be in the store. I refuse to wear a mask after being promised my vaccination would be sufficient and I will no longer support any business that continues to fear monger over what has now turned into the common cold. read more

Not what it use to be when I was younger. The store is extremely unorganized with too many item all over the place. The clutter makes it hard to find anything you are looking for. The selection of items is OK with plenty of shoes and work out stuff, but you are better off going to Dicks or online to get the item you are really looking for. read more

The location is what makes this Big 5 helpful. It is close to freeway access and is right on the corner of Shaw and Marks. The items are the same as every other Big 5. Random items you can't find at Dick's. (particular nike socks my mom likes...?) They accept coupons on your phone. They also accept competitor (Dick's) coupons. read more

Only giving 2 stars because the person that helped me on the phone was VERY nice and helpful. I was "exchanging" a brown pair of Bearpaws for a black pair that was also a different size. The RETURN PRICE was $54.99 and the PURCHASE PRICE was $49.99... cool I get $5 towards my other purchases I thought. The cashier, Gabrielle, asked the manager if she should just make them the same price.... what? I didn't know you could charge me MORE just because I was exchanging. Mind you there is a wait to get in which is understandable but when I was being helped (finally) I realized why it was taking them SO LONG to help the ppl trying to check out in the line that was all the way to the back of the store; they were busy watching/talking and laughing at/about a customer that was trying to get something in their car. Shame on the manager for charging me $5 extra dollars and for distracting your employees rather then getting customers in and out. read more

So unorganized - never can find anything they advise over the phone they have in stock and readily available for pick up. Every time I call to try and make sure I'm not wasting my time showing up and them not having an item- I'm on hold forever. Customer service sucks and no one ever knows where anything is or if they have it. Everyone that morning looked like they were miserable, we weren't greeted, the cashier Cindy did not smile nor say thank you, the whole time we were paying, just felt awkward. All of my children play competitive sports. We pick up last minute items at big five frequently, in and out of town. My best experience by far was this evening at the big 5 on Shaw Ave/ Marks. Not only were the workers on the floor very helpful, the gentleman,Jimmie, who was at the register was outstanding. Not only did he have a very positive attitude he was very welcoming , and made sure we found everything we needed. It seems as if he truly loves his job, even if he doesn't, and made me want to visit this specific store time and time again. I would like to give a big shoutout to Jimmie for seriously being big 5's best employee. I hope he gets a raise. He is manager material. read more

What a pleasant visit i had at Big 5. Dave the manager, went out of his way to help me. They didn't have the right size shoe i was looking for, so he called other stores to locate said shoes. Then offered to pick them up for me on his way to work the following day. Wow!!! Talk about customer service. What a great store!! My girlfriend came in yesterday to buy some snow boots for us and accidently bought the wrong size. I brought them in to do an exchange for the exact same boots and I had my original receipt. No reason there should be an issue. Well here they do not just swap out your item in an exchange they return it then sell it again and if it's any difference in price they charge you. Exact same item had the receipt in hand and a manager was right behind her. He turned around to see why I said never mind I'll keep the boots that are too large for me and then turned back around ignoring the situation. The service was very poor. I was charged more than what the advertise price was. The shoes I bought were at the discounted price of $39.98, but they changed me $70, and the employee that was helping me was telling her manager that the price was $39.98 but he agued saying it wasn't and he had her charge me full price. This was my first and last time here. I advise anyone who goes to this store to take picture proof of your price so you don't have this same problem I did. read more

I have to be very hard up for something to buy it here. For starters the place is cluttered and trashy looking. Further, no one knows anything about the products! Third, everything is miss-priced and in the wrong spot so when a box is sitting under a sign that say 20 dollar and when you get to the counter it's 50 it's really annoying but not nearly as annoying as the lethargic cashier that said I needed to compare the sku numbers. I responded with.... You want me to move all of the boxes and get on my hands and knees to read a microscopic number? The cashier replied... Yes, unless you want to do this all the time referring to the price check. I told the cashier to go ahead and restock the item since I had literally already waited in line for 20 minutes while two other cashiers chatted it up and that it would be a cold day in hell when I got on my hands and knees in their dirty floor to double check their work, I told the cashier that was the lamest customer service I have ever seen. The cashier said, ok... Have a terrific day. It dripped of sarcasm. Will not return to this store EVER! read more
