This store is in a nice location (right off of I-90 and I-405) and there's alway plenty of parking. It's located with the Factorial Mall and has a decent selection of shops next to it. They always have a good selection of New Balance sneakers and at good prices. On my last visit, I was greeted and helped by Brandon. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. read more

Went to purchase 4 heavy dumbbells and my 22 month old was with me. I was the only customer in the store and there were two sales associates on the floor. None of them greeted me and my son wanted to be carried the whole time so I could only carry one at a time to the register. They could see that o was struggling and not once did they offer to help by the time I place the fourth dumbbell on the counter I looked up at the associate and said you know what, I'm sure I could go get these cheaper online and walked out. I went to the cashier to do a price check, and after I was told the price the guy named Tim was very rude to me. I asked him nicely if I can leave the jacket with him or put it back in the shelf. First of all, I need to know, Big 5 WHAT? Sports? I find their name weird and off-putting. This store seems to hardly do any business. In nine years, I've shopped here maybe 5 times, finding what I needed three times. Not so good. Prices are OK, service about the same, selection not always good. Once in a while they'll have good shoes or camping stuff on clearance. And they have a broader range of swimming goggles and caps than many places. No horseback-riding gear and no North Face that I saw. I prefer REI, on the whole, because the staff is friendlier and more helpful, it's a local business, the member dividend is kind of nice, and you can find out what they have before you go via their website. read more

I went here in dark & rain to get specific item which I called in to make sure they have my item. They claimed I asked for something else when I asked for specific item and a specific size. Today was my 2nd time going to this location and let me tell you, it made my blood boil. I had to make a return. The form of payment I used was a debit card...the associate asked me if I wanted cash or if I wanted it back on my card. I told her card. When I swiped my card it showed an error and then she told me she will have to just give me cash. I asked her why I couldn't get the money returned to my card and the other associate says with an attitude IT'S BECAUSE IT'S A DEBIT CARD! Umm yeah....no sh*t, I am well aware of what kind of card I used. I wanted a reason why. Don't ask me how I'd like my refund if you can't give it to me the way I wanted it....and be rude to me too. I had a terrible experience, and in reading the other reviews here, it appears to just be par for the course. The manager is bad at her job, and worse at customer service. I specifically asked her for one kind of ammunition, but she gave me the wrong kind. Now, if I'd had the opportunity to inspect the purchase, this wouldn't have happened. But, she got the box from behind the shelf, and then walked it to the counter and rang it up. I should have been aware that she was incompetent, and double-checked her work. But, I didn't, so this is ultimately on me. As soon as I realized the mistake, I brought it back obviously unopened, and with the receipt. BUT, she now starts citing her store policy, and reinforces the concept of caveat emptor. Message received, grumpy bitch at Big-5. Can I give this store a zero rating? Totally dysfunctional, not customer oriented staff. What a mess! I drove to the store to get size large, Free Country brand swimwear for boys. Only a few out, and they were Smalll and medium. I asked if there were any large in back. The answer was for the lady salesperson to have 3 large boxes brought out and expected me to sort through women, mens, all sizes! No help provided. The store seems very unorganized. Staff doesn't seem to be helping customers. Visited the store and staff members didn't have the welcoming approach and professional appearance. Prices are much higher than most sporting goods stores. There are deals in the weekly paper, but the selection of merchandise seems fairly poor. Don't see how people would want to shop or come back to the store for future purchases!!! Got an item at another location and wanted to exchange/return it for something else. Found the item we wanted to get. Went up to the register to complete the transaction. Staff members seem a little friendly and helpful at first, but it soon turned into another story. Told a staff member that we got one item at another location and wanted to exchange/return it for another item. She started entering the item into the computer and register, but saw it was a return and told us to go to the register at the opposite site of the store. We went to that other register, a second staff member started the exchange/return transaction again, but he saw there was a line and told us to go to the other register we were at to get the transaction done. He said, "You know what would be better? If you would go back to that register since it was a return." I was like are you serious and why would you say that to any customer. We were at that register before and now we have to go back there again for the second time. So we went back to the original register and the female staff member there started the exchange/return process once again. After all that time going back and forth between the two registers, they finally got the transactions completed. My question was "Why we had to go from one register to another and back to the original?" It was a total waste of time. Customer service is clearly not one of the store's top priorities. If we are at a register why not just get the transaction completed and over with rather than waste the customers time and energy waiting in line just to get a simple exchange/return transaction done. You can't gain a customers loyalty, trust and business with this type of customer service! Where is the RESPECT for your customers? The customers time is very valuable! Don't push customers and problems around. What kind of customer service is this? Stand up and resolve the situation! NOT going back here to shop anymore!!! Prefer to shop at other sporting goods stores. Be smart and save your money to shop elsewhere!!! I found - vaguely - what I was looking for (a reflector item for being seen in the dark) but when it came time to checkout, they had only one cash register open and another guy was slowly walking to and from the second register IGNORING THE LONG LINE as he made his way back to the floor to price more items. It was just my luck that the people in front of me had a complex order involving a lot of jackets. The cashier was friendly enough but, really, you can't go out of your way to ring up the extra customers who are obviously just standing there waiting to pay your store money?
