Few people know what a bierock is. I saw the sign as soon as we pulled into the parking lot and knew we had to investigate. I left hubby with no option other than stopping for lunch or at least ordering some food to go. I lived in Kansas as a teenager and fondly remember discovering bierocks and later making them for my own family. I wish we were locals because not only are the bierocks good, but this place has a fun vibe that would definitely bring us back. It was a game day when we stopped, and there was a fair crowd cheering on their favorite Wisconsin team. We ordered a Classic with Bavarian seasoning and a Rosemary Lamb Bierock to go along with some jalapeño poppers. I really enjoyed the Classic with the additional seasoning. It gave it an added boost of flavor. My husband was pleased with the Rosemary Lamb. Each came with chips and a pickle. Next time, I hope we can stop in and stay for a cocktail or craft beer as well. read more

Reasonable prices on appetizers and meals-- especially considering that chips are included and you can upgrade to a variety of side dishes. Live bands on the weekends. Place was not busy and our order was messed up -- ingredients and sides weren't correct or were missing -- which is the reason for 3 stars. We did get comped one meal due to the fact that an entire meal for our son wasn't made and we had to wait another 15 minutes for it to be cooked. Overall, I'd like to try this place again to see if it can regain some stars and my confidence in the service. read more

It was only us and two other tables so not like they were busy. Menu says they try to do table service unless it's too busy but there was zero effort. Came here Friday for a house band. The atmosphere is really decent, the acoustics were pretty good and the beer selection is extensive. The service model (order at bar) is common in the area and the drinks and food served quickly. But. The food. The menu descriptions were tempting and I had the lamb bierock. It was honestly the most regrettable part of the evening. Lamb is arguably the most flavorful commercially available meat on the market so it was surprising that this was the most flavorless thing I've eaten this year. I wondered how they managed to achieve this and I assume it involved an open sous vide style involving running the lamb through a pot scrubbing dishwasher cycle. Honestly no flavor so much so I walked past the kitchen twice to see if they even had a spice rack. The tzatziki sauce was just as bad if not worse and the bacon wrapped dates were the only highlight but nothing particularly or uniquely different from the same menu item at any other restaurant. The slaw recipe is seemingly red cabbage, add water, top with scallions. Equally flavorless. Happy to go back for another show but I'll eat elsewhere ahead of time. read more

First time here! Yummy food ( kind of) and the band was very nice! The band that was there on this Saturday night was called Lochanside and they were definitely wonderful!! The spinach puffs were the best!!! The wedges are served with an onion sour cream dip that tastes like relish and wasn't that great. The pretzel is served with pimento cheese, if you like that sort of cheese. I wish it would also have a side of mustard but it was a delicious pretzel. If you haven't been to Bierock on Sherman Ave, you're missing out. Tonight, since we went after dinner, but I was still a little hungry, I ordered their Jalapeño Poppers. Nice surprise- they're not the frozen deep fried ones you get most places. Instead they're a 1/2'd fresh jalapeño, stuffed with a mix of cheeses and baked. Comes with a side of sauce that I think was a creamy ranch. But the best thing is their Caramel Apple Bierock. I ordered one for each of us to go, not sure how they'd be an hour and a half later. I'm still licking the caramel off the sides of my mouth. Still warm, by the time we got them home, and not soggy (thanks in part I believe to the packaging, which was NOT styrofoam). We poured the generous amt of caramel over the powered sugar dusted pastry and indulged ourselves. Just go, you won't regret it. Next time I'll try a savory Bierock, I can only imagine how good those are. As a side note, we had the opportunity to listen to some live Bluegrass music too! read more

Went to Bierock for the first time and had a blast. They have an extensive drink list including beers, ciders, wines and cocktails. I had the Old Fashioned and the bartender was phenomenal and made it nice and strong. They had a special Thai bierock which was super tasty and came with a peanut sauce. One bierock is definitely filling and a good dinner with the side of pickle and chips. I also got a spinach puff which was delicious. A cheesy spinach filling made it so hearty and comforting. They also had a wide assortment of games that kept the adults and even my toddler happy. I definitely recommend it for a casual happy hour or meet up for food and drinks. read more

Highly recommend the food. Hearty, unique and some great unique brews on tap. They host many fun and unique events too. The night we were there to eat they had a virtual gaming system Super Bowl/tournament. They host trivia and karaoke on other nights. Went here for a friends birthday after we'd been wanting to try this place for a while. It definitely lived up to expectations. We were able to grab a table right away, which we were kind of surprised by, since it was a Friday night. The waiter was quick to come over and get our drink orders and bring the food menus. Throughout the whole time there the guys waiting on tables and running food were pretty quick, as was the kitchen. We ended up ordering the homemade pretzel and the mushroom stroganoff with spaetzle, chives, and croutons for our appetizers. The pretzel was nice and soft and glazed in butter and salt flakes. The pimento cheese dip that comes with it is a nice complement. The mushroom stroganoff was quite tasty and I will definitely be ordering it again! As for the main food, we ordered the classic bierock, the rosemary lamb, and the tofu & kimchi. The classic got good reviews from my friend who ordered it. The rosemary lamb was also pretty tasty, but oddly comes in more of a rectangle shape than the other half moons. The tzatziki dip that comes with it is needed to provide a flavor contrast to the lamb, although we wish it would have been a little thinner. The bierock was packed with lamb however. Oddly, I think that the favorite ended up being the tofu & kimchi. The flavors all complemented each other nicely, and it felt like a light meal. Which is odd given the amount of bread. This bierock comes with a peanut sauce, but I asked to sub the mustard vinaigrette, which was the right choice! It pared fantastically with the bierock! Overall, good service, good food, and a pretty extensive drink and tap list. We'll be back when we're on the north side of town. read more

This is my second visit to Bierock. I love that they offer bierocks, a pastry with a European origin that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Brian, one of the owners, is a very good man who used to host a Green Bay Packer podcast that was appreciated and heard by many a die hard Packer fan. The food is great, the atmosphere is laid back, and they have a wide rotating range of local craft beers. 4p on a Badgwe game day on sunday, no crowds. They don't do flights but I got to pick 4 tester size (5 oz) of beers at cheaper price. I was pleased with the selections. The bierock (German pocket pies) comes in different flavors, sweet or savory) and my rosemary lamb was very tasty. We ordered 2 'special of the day' bierocks (2 flavors) and ended up with 2 different bierocks. The bartender said he must have put in the order wrong. We waited 35+ mins for the order to arrive and were starving, so we told him that we would be ok with what he had brought us. One had meat and one had meat and cheese. The cheese was a very nice addition to the bierock. The meat one was pretty flavorless meat in a soft pastry shell. The pastry shell is what made it tasty- not the meat filling. I've never had a bierock before and I think it's very close to a midwest pasty. They are pretty small, so I would order 2-3 if you are hungry. I thought it seemed a bit expensive for what you got. The beer selection was great and gets a 4-5 stars. The bierocks get 3 stars. The service was about a 1-2 stars. read more

I got to the restaurant/pub around 9:30 shy of closing time and sat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and the service very easy and comfortable. For food I tried the classic bierock. The dough is fine and light and doesn't take away but compliments the filling. It was not grease at all and had good flavor. Not strong condiments and good for a light meal. The ambiance was light as expected for a Thursday night when college is out for break. However chatting with the bar and kitchen staff and owner made this a pleasant visit. The meat pies here are some of the best I've ever had. Even with my new inability to eat red meat, they have a fair number I can still enjoy. My favorite thus far has been the Rosemary Lamb Bierock (which is still red meat, unfortunately) which is extremely flavorful. The Potato Salad and Mushroom Stroganoff are also quite good. Most people, however, will be more interested in the drink selection. They have a rotating selection of beer from various microbreweries, as well as imports. The number of options almost ensures that they'll have something for every taste. Even if alcohol isn't your thing, they have Sprecher's root beer and cherry cola, as well as a few other options. The prices are a tad bit high, but the quality is very much worth it. Definitely a 4.5 out of 5. read more

I'm not sure why we didn't stop at Bierock sooner! We love the North Side and supporting the new restaurants here. We stopped after the North Side Farmers Market and had brunch. It's a unique menu specializing in Bierocks, which I was not familiar with, and they were really good! The stroganoff was great too! The wedges were tasty, but I wish they were a bit crispier. The only other thing I would wish is that I could customize no onions, but not a huge deal. I hope they do really well in this location! read more

I had seen articles about Bierock in the paper and figured it was worth a try. I was not disappointed. They have an extensive beer list and focus on local breweries. I'd come back just for the different beers they had. I did order the Lamb Bierock and a side of Mushroom Stroganoff. The beirock was very good and flavorful. It was packed with meat that was tender and well seasoned. The dill yogurt dipping sauce brought everything together. The stroganoff was by by far the best thing I ate. I got the side portion, but wish I would have gotten the full portion. The spatzl was fresh and the sauce was delicious. A must try when you come. The staff was very friendly and engaging.
