The passion fruit guava Kombucha is great here. The smash burgers are ok. I liked my spicy jalapeño sausage sandwich there. The service is very good. Pickles, sauerkraut, grilled onions, and dang! Look at all the different kinds of mustard they have! Wowee zowee! I'm in heaven. Visited my UCSB senior and we wanted a cool drink while waiting for our nearby restaurant reservation. This place has very casual indoor/outdoor grab-your-own seating. Mostly a younger crowd and lots of dogs. Busy on a Saturday at 7p, but we lucked into a table right away. Great beer list, we got pints of the lager, pilsner and cream ale, all were great. We had our traditional German dinner for our anniversary. Biergarten was the best choice we have made. We found our new favorite German restaurant. It is definitely the place to stop any time we are back in Santa Barbara. We had the schnitzel with gravy and potato salad. They were both delicious. The schnitzel was just right. It was not dried out like some can be. The potato salad was a true German potato salad. We also had a large German pretzel. It was served warm with a cheese sauce. It's all open seating as well. Food: We opted to try the spicy Hawaiian pizza. Let me tell you, they mean spicy hahaha. I left a positive review before, but I went back w my friends last night and had a horrible experience. They took a friend of mines ID because she ordered a "boot" of alcohol and they give you the ID back after you turn the boot in. My friend went to turn in her boot and they did not have her ID. They gave it away to someone else and blamed us saying one of our friends took it despite us speaking with all friends who said they did not. What a fantastic addition to our SB Funk Zone. This new beer garden space is open to the elements, and with our beautiful weather it's a great space for dining and drinking with friends and family. And even on a cooler Sunday afternoon, the fire barrels generated some nice heat for all. First of all, the Valet Parking makes it very convenient, which got us on to the queue all the more quickly. Wait didn't take very long, and we did get to enjoy some Ale before heading to our table. Once seated we were greeted by server Sylvia, who was gracious and helpful, and made all of our Biergarten wishes come true. Can't wait to be back there soon. At a comfy outdoor table we all enjoyed delicious Ales and Lagers, which paired well with the delicious Pizzas, Bratwursts, Pretzels, and yes, even a Schnitzel Poutine. Favorite of the day for me was the sweet and delicious Mother Earth Cali Creamin' Ale, followed closely by the Stone Buenaveza Lager. This new beer garden is located in the historic SB Funk Zone building that also houses Love Worn, Skyenna Wine Lounge, Shine Up Men's Wear, and Lighthouse Skateboards. I would love to give Biergarten a better rating but they were just so unprepared the night we came. We called ahead to put our name down (which I definitely suggest) so we didn't have to wait when we came. We also got free valet so that was a nice perk as everyone knows how hard parking can be downtown. I came with a group and we wanted to order some sausage samplers, schnitzel, poutine, and a pizza. However the waiter had told us they ran out of pizzas because earlier someone ordered 20. BTW we came around 7:30 so it wasn't too late in the night. He also told us they were out of schnitzel and poutine too. What a disappointment!! They had also run out of ranch...We ended up basically just ordering a bunch of sausages and a pretzel for the table with a side of fries. The fries were nice and crisp - nothing special but still good. I enjoyed all the sausages and sampling them with my friends. The honey mustard sauce was delish but there's another mustard that was way too forward in horseradish. Not all the sausage platters got sauces (one just got ketchup). There was nothing too special about the pretzel but it comes with good cheese sauces. We also ordered a couple burgers - also nothing special. I forget which beers we ordered but we got two of the biggest size and it was the waiter's recommendation.
