If I'm hoping for a peaceful mani/pedi or perhaps even need to jump on a call (multitasking at it's finest) I head to Style Nails & Spa.* But if I"m in the mood for a more lively atmosphere where I'm likely to socialize with at least 10 other people I know I head here. Both Style Nails and Bien Assorti get the job done...good, lasting manis and pedis. Bien Assorti just tends to be a bit bigger, busier and I like that they don't charge extra for the vinylux (nail polish that dries extra fast and apparently lasts longer). The nail technicians are nice and the prices are competitive to other nail salons in the area. They also always hand you a coupon for your next visit so there's no reason to pay full price here. I went in for a mani/pedi & was scheduled with Grace. I asked her not to cut my cuticles - she insisted. I asked her to clean up the polish, she refused... so I left & called the owner afterwards, asking for a redo. He was very polite, scheduled an appointment & I showed up as scheduled. His front of house staff told me I had to repay. I explained this was a redo... the desk attendant argued with me, telling me... did you speak to Mr. Moon? - after accepting 3 phone calls as I was trying to check in for my appointment. I did speak to Mr. Moon. I did have a scheduled redo from Graces lackluster appointment. I did try to explain to you & the other colleague who stepped in that this was a redo. After 20 minutes of trying to explain... waiting as the receptionist took call after call, I left & will not return. The receptionist did call later that morning to apologize & confirming it was a redo & no charge if I wanted to come back, but I did not return. Horrible business owners that take it upon themselves to "cancel out" customers!! I was a customer for well over 2 years and in that time during COVID. I had to reschedule my appointments on three different occasions. I gave ample notice between 3-5 days before my scheduled appointment. In the past three weeks I have tried to get an appointment for a manicure. Every time I called the owner gave me times to choose from and when I committed to a time block would then ask me for my name and phone number. Thereafter the owner would then claim "sorry no openings available" AFTER he said there were openings. Today I called and the same outcome occurred. I called, the owner gave me times to choose from and again, said "no openings" once I gave him my name and number. SO, I had my boyfriend call to schedule an appointment using his phone number and low and behold...got an appointment for a manicure. IT GETS WORSE!! I show up for the appointment my boyfriend made for me. The owner (the one who kept saying "sorry no openings available"to me over the past three weeks) looks at me and said "sorry a mistake was made...no openings". Livid and furious does not describe how I feel about my horrific experience. He told me because in the past 2 years I canceled prior appointments (mind you..with ample notice) and he refused to service me. For those seeking services...do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!! For the amount of money they charge there are plenty of other small business owners who can use your income to keep their business afloat WHILE providing excellent customer service. The owner at Bien Assorti is a liar and horrible business person. Wouldn't be surprised if he runs himself out of business for lack of customer service. I've been going to this nail salon since high school, and I've never found anything else that came close. I grew up in this area and it's a local favorite- I consistently run into neighbors and 20-somethings who are back home visiting their parents. It's popular for a reason: the manicurists here are kind and talented, and consistently give non-gel manicures that last up to a week and a half without chipping (although they do gel as well). There's a wide selection of nail polish colors, up-to-date magazines to read, and romcoms that play silently with subtitles so you have something to watch if you want. A part of their routine is also a short back rub and exfoliating hand and arm scrub-- basically, it feels completely luxurious without the price tag. The nail salon is clean. The owner is friendly. The nail technicians are careful and nice. The manicures last! I suspect the secret is that they don't dilute the polish like the quickie places near my work in the city. My client wanted me to take her in for a pedicure. It was about 4:45. We asked if they were still open and they said yes of course. My client is 82yrs old and uses a cane so she is a little slow but as soon she sat down ... the lady in charge immediately asked me who was paying and how much was going to be the tip. I told her 20% because I was paying for her but she insisted I ask my client how much would "SHE" like to tip. So then I ask my client if it was ok to tip $5 because it was insulting that she was so concern and pushy about the tip. My client said yes. Immediately after her pedicure they told us we are now closing and escorted her out the door with her cane THEY put her jacket on and told me to get the car. I asked if she could dry her toes under the dryer & they once again told us sorry we are closing. It was freezing cold & my client had to walk out with the pads on her feet which were dangerous because she had a cane. We will not return to this place again. read more

If you're looking to get pampered, this is probably not the nail place for you. However, if you're looking for quality work at a decent price, then I highly recommend Bien Assorti in Glencoe. They're friendly and accommodating and remarkably quick - one of the only places I've found that does a good no-chip in under 30 minutes. Always busy, so it's best to call ahead. They play cheesy movies, but thankfully they keep the sound off. Parking in the area can be a challenge, so arrive a few minutes early. read more

I had a mani/pedi at Bien Assorti in Glencoe and had a great experience. The salon has a nice atmosphere, very clean, and the pedicure chairs were very nice. Grace was my nail technician and she had was very attentive to detail and did a great job. When I said it was my first visit, I was even given a coupon for my next visit and a discount on my bill. I even got an extra shoulder rub while my nails dried. It's not the cheapest place to get your nails done, but it's not too expensive either ($50 for mani and pedi) and I'd rather pay a few extra dollars for this level of quality. The Bucktown location is the best in the city, which I thought couldn't be beat. The Glencoe location is even better. They personalize the service by checking in with you by name during your visit. Very disappointed unfortunately. Had an appointment on Dec 24th for 10:30 am for myself and my daughter. I called to cancel my daughter's appointment and was told there was no appointment for me and I must have called another place. Now since I have been coming here for years (and progressively been more disappointed) I knew exactly the women's voice and their process of appointment confirmation. They use your telephone number to look you up. So, I am 100% certain that I called them. She just forgot to put it us in the books. She was very rude, told me she will call me back and hung up. Half an hour later the male owner called and backed her up by saying I must have called another place and they can accommodate me another time or I can find another salon. Guess what I am choosing to do? Find another salon permanently and I would suggest anyone reading this review do the same. read more

They do a great job, are super friendly (always remember me and even my friend who occasionally comes with me), they give me coupons every time I go and best of all my regular manicures can last anywhere from 1-2 weeks without chipping!
