Thank you yelp for helping us find the front door!! I actually enjoyed the hunt for it. This is a nice French restaurant with really cool art. The menu was printed on old train paraphernalia. I liked the food; the amuse bouche was creative. The bread and butter was clever as well. The portion sizes were fair and the Miyazaki beef was excellent. The service left a lot to be desired, unfortunately. It was slow and unfriendly. We would have ordered dessert, but we were ignored when it was time. This restaurant has great potential, but needs a little TLC or training on the floor, perhaps.

This restaurant was tucked away on the street and a bit hard to find and get into the building at first, but perhaps it was meant to be exclusive. The ambiance and cuisine are both Modern French, and it was clear that the chef paid attention to detail in preparing our entrees tonight. For appetizers, I ordered a delicately prepared prawn carpaccio that reminded me of fine sashimi. I had the guinea fowl breast which was pretty good, but in sampling my wife's wagyu beef, I was blown away. My favorite surprisingly turned out to actually be dessert, where our Le Chocolat was bursting with different textures and flavors. Not to mention a complimentary second dessert after that. I'd strongly recommend this place to others looking for fine French cuisine.

A corner of this fancy restaurant.

What a visual and savory treat! Since my company has been doing fairly good so our boss decided to give us a treat and asked us to pick a place (maybe he should not have - on second thought); and of course we picked this crème de la crème. This place was rather difficult to locate as its entrance on Hollywood Road was kind of obscure and surprisingly there was no signage but a gold and blue doorway. We would have totally missed the entrance had the staff at the door not told us this was the place we were looking for. The moment we walked inside and we were surrounded with all the arts hanging on the walls and the paintings everywhere. As the dinning section was located a floor down, we followed the staff and walked down the stairs passing through bar section. And everything just got even better once you reached the centre. There were so much detail in everything. For example, the tables carefully crafted and even the plates had their own design on them. I am especially impressed with the outfit the staff were wearing - kind of retro and funky. As for the food, we all ordered set lunches as they were only around $238 to $300 (depending on how much courses you wanted). Personally my pick was scallops with corn as the scallops were all nicely seasoned. Drinks there were overall reasonably priced as well. Make sure you bring your camera with you as this one will not disappoint you at all!

Interesting atmosphere with all the artwork and food topped off the night. We tried the tastings menu which I think is a great option if this is your first time. The staff could use a bit more training as the venue was very busy but it always seemed to take forever to get service. As I am gluten free we informed the kitchen more than a day in advance which when we arrived the staff all said not a problem they handle this on a daily basis and that they could make anything gluten free. I was confident in them until 5 minutes later when the waitress came out saying that the chef wanted to know if rice was gluten free.....it definitely is. In addition even after clarify before our final dish it still came out with a wafer, which when we sought clarification the waiter said was gluten free but he would check. After almost ten minutes he came back saying everything but the wafer was gluten free. To which I had to tell him I could therefore not eat the dish. They quickly replaced it without the wafer. That aside all dishes were great and I would go back for more. Then general understanding of gluten free does not affect the mass of the population and I would recommend this restaurant to those interested. Keep in mind that the door is a little difficult to navigate. Look for a little button on top of the handle to enter.

This is an astonishingly cool cocktail bar. My little brother and I had a blast here before getting Omakase next door. So stylish and unexpected... you will instantly be the coolest person in your friend group.

Enjoy

Did a great dinner here. It gave me another fine-dining experience - not just elegant and classy it could be punk and fun! All waiters and waitresses are friendly and efficient at anytime. Food was average compared to other fine dining places , it could be better. Well, I must compliment the sommelier ! He recommended us a good temperature bottle of wine from France! Well done and luv it with exact wine awake

But then, if you are just looking for a night to chill and relax, you'll think, "hey, it's some fancy high-end champagne bar, let's give it a pass and go for some low key lounge." The truth is, champagne bar is a bit misleading. You'll get a wide range of the usual drinks. Full pint of Asahi for $45 at happy hour till 8pm, which is a steal on Elgin Street. They almost all kinds of liquors at happy hour price too. Granted, you'd still want to get some sparkling here too. Go for the parma ham set that comes with two glasses of rosé? Oh yes, they serve food too! That's right. Doesn't seem like they have a kitchen here, but they bring over the pizza and other hot dishes from the restaurant next to it. One minor miss - the air-con. We were sitting not at the "outdoor balcony" but the table closest to the store front. Excuse us for being spoiled kids enjoying 24c air-con everywhere since we were born, but the air-con was really weak on a summer day like the night we visited. Champagne would have been much more enjoyable in a more pleasant temperature.

They also have a small selection of bar snacks and small plates, the margarita pizza is particularly good. For me, Flutes has always been a "let's meet here before dinner" bar. Right at one end of Elgin Street, it is very easy to find, and has an open frontage onto the street, so you can sit at the front and watch the world go by whilst waiting for your hot date. The front seats are bar stools and high tables, which make a great elevated viewing spot to people watch, but I personally find these seats get uncomfortable over an evening, especially if the AC doesn't quite reach you. I prefer to sit further in the back where there are low seats and tables, but these are unfortunately near the toilet. Drinks are standard Soho price, around HKD80-90 for a regular mixer. Beware that the happy hour only extends to certain drinks. The service is a little slow, even when the bar is empty. It has been much better in the past, so I may have just hit it on a bad day. Otherwise the staff are very friendly. I personally come here a lot, but mainly for fancy drinks, celebrations, or to treat Mrs L. I probably wouldn't meet the lads here for a pint, unless of course it was a pint of Janisson.

The reason that this location does not get 5 stars is because for 140 dollars, we got a very small serving when we ordered the mixed platter. Oh, and the place has a serious mosquito problem. The two chefs work in a small but efficient space although it did seem they would be pushed if there were more than 20 diners. On booking (thanks to a cancellation) I asked about BYO/corkage and was told they preferred guests not to BYO & that they had an extensive wine list. On reflection this is inaccurate as the wine list is one page with a handful of wines in each category and two in the white wine section were unavailable and the first one we choose being a 2011 we were brought a 2012 which wasn't the best year for that wine and shouldn't be charged at the same listed price as the 2011. We selected another which was very nice. Overall the oysters were delicious, the foie gras was tasty on toast and the lobster sliders were very good with a little zing in the sauce. It is not the venue for an intimate dinner but nice for a meal out, cocktails or just drinks and small bites to share.

A buddy suggested it for our Sunday brunch venue, and I was down for trying somewhere new in the neighbourhood. Down the steps of Shin Hing Street, you'll find a plethora of restaurants, from Cocote to The Mixing Bowl, along with some funky galleries and shops. It's one of my favourite streets in Hong Kong to explore with its shady trees and eclectic cred. Basically, I was already in a happy mood and I walked into the most gorgeous restaurant with a cool atmosphere. If you're like me, and have a thing for all things kookie, you'll love the tiles to the hand drawn artwork on the walls to the toilet doors. I made my way upstairs, thinking my pal would already be there, he wasn't ... But the waiter was... And he spoke wiz ze French accent. *heart melt*. I adore an accent, and it just made me appreciate the restaurant even more as it offers French cuisine by French people. Hells yes. I was really after eggs today, and boy was there a selection. I opted for the poached egg with wild asparagus and Parma ham. Bon oeuf, they were spectacular. The eggs were perfectly runny, maybe even verging on scrambled yet poached (we have coined the phrase scroached) with a salty flavour from the Parma ham that hit every tastebud and sent it tingling. The asparagus was fresh and crunchy, adding another layer to the dish. Served alongside the meal is a basket of the bread baked fresh in the kitchen with a dob of salted butter that is out of this world. I mean, butter is butter right... Wait till you've tasted this butter. It was so scrumptious I even asked where it's from. Sadly the server didn't know, but I think it's a ruse to keep us going back (although I was offered some for takeaway). Finally, I have to make mention of my ice latte. It was spectacular, with a little sweetness and coffee beans as decoration, it was the perfect combination to my utterly delectable meal. Merci bien, I will return to sample their dinner menu (I mean cheese!).

My company said that they thought that the food wasn't spectacular and that they could simply create the same food in their home. I'd rather have someone make it for me. LOL. Its a small place so maybe 9 - 10 people would be the biggest group they could accommodate comfortably. We had 8 people. I'd imagine that you could rent out the second story for a small gathering of about 20 people. They also have a wine cellar on the second floor! Enjoy!

I passed by this place several times and it as usually always full. Today I thought I have to give it a try. The staff is very friendly, only one table was free and I had no problem getting the table. The menu is relatively condensed- but I personally like this as this makes sure your not getting some old left overs. But the staff should be more knowledgeable on they have on the menu. Especially when you have dishes of the day. I asked the waiter what the soup de jour is and he said - pumpkin soup. So I decided to take the onion soup. 2 minutes later the guests at the left table asked the same question and another waiter said cauliflower soup. Maybe it's not the soup of the day - it's the soup the hour - and the hour moved on. As a starter they Server a small hot baguette - I have to say very nice taste and texture. The onion soup arrived very fast. Nothing to be remembered. A watery soup with a slide bitter taste and chewy cheese on top. The main dish were mussels, they could have been the star of the evening but the quality was to mixed. I had the 500 g portion. First all the good things about them: 0 empty shell - not like in other places where they cheat you with 500 g or more but a lot of the shells are empty. The taste of the majority of the mussels was great. The mussels itself and the soup they were made in. Very balanced. Now the but: Quite a lot of the mussels were not cleaned well, they were sandy. I would also explain etc that the kitchen would take out all closed mussels - I had 7 closed once. Now that the real star of the evening: The mouse au chocolate - great taste, very fluffy and light. I think I need another visit to see if the less optimal areas were normal or just a human error.

There are plenty of option for dinner but I forgot what they were and did not take picture of the menu. We had a complimentary toasted bread and butter. We then ordered a plate of Escargot to share, I ordered a Ribeye with fries and a Kronenbourg 1664 Beer. The escargot was very delicious or probably I was very hungry, but definitely the taste of it was great and there was the buttery oil coming out of it that made it that much more good. The ribeye was epic paired with the butter sauce I got and it was very tender and very satisfying for my appetite. The fries were perfect as well not soggy or too salty and just right for fries. The beer? Well that was great as well, who wouldn't enjoy a beer paired with a nice dinner?! By the time I finished eating and drinking, I was very full indeed and this was a perfect dinner! Location: around the SOHO area and there are many different types of restaurant as well, but you wouldn't go wrong with Bouchon. Service was very good, order was fast and food came out pretty quick as well. Clean and atmosphere was very nice, there are high tables and also regular tables for seating and a small bar as well. Luckily for me, the L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Hong Kong is 3 Michelin stars and also affordable (relative to its reputation). I decided to come here for lunch with my wife as my first ever 3 Michelin star experience. I reserved a lunch reservation about a month in advance. The restaurant is very romantic and fancy. We were seated at a bar style counter, and we were escorted to our seats. The staff were all very attentive. Many were multi-lingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. We ended up each ordering the lowest cost lunch tasting menu with one amuse bouche, one appetizer, one soup, one entree, and a dessert. We also each got a drink. I got a mocktail with lychee and mint which was an amazing palate cleanser between courses. The amuse bouche was a cracker with uni on top. The uni was very soft like Hokkaido uni and the cracker went well with the soft texture of the uni. We had a complimentary bread basket with a variety of different breads, all of which were amazing. I loved the croissants. For my own appetizer I chose the salmon caviar. I've never had that much caviar in my life in one sitting, it was amazing. My wife got the yellowtail carpaccio which was also amazing. The soup was a mushroom style soup with foam and a single matsutake mushroom. Soup was savory, rich, and a delight to the senses. We both got the pigeon entree. I'd never had pigeon before, my wife did but said she did not like it before. She loved this pigeon though, which was cooked slightly on the rarer to medium rare side. The pigeon was super soft. It was also wrapped with foie gras which made it decadent and rich. For dessert I chose coffee and also the coffee ice cream dessert with gelato, coffee crumble, and coffee jelly. Super rich but quite tasty. The coffee also came with a variety of small sweet snacks. Joel Robuchon truly lived up to its hype, and was well worth the cost. I will definitely come back.

The cake layer distribution in the new cube version is just now as good as the dome version. There are more cream than cake/chocolate ball crunch ratio. It is still good, I just prefer the dome version. I also tried their green tea red bean roll cake and that is not my cup of tea. Speaking of tea, I also tried their latte. Not my cup of tea again. It is below average for a latte drink. I mean it is better than Starbucks (and way better than McDonalds), but not up to the average latte level for a coffee shop. I could hand whisk a latte better than theirs, and given they have the machine... I have higher expectations. BTW I have been there 3 times during my Hong Kong visit, and by the 3rd time, they have a promotion where basically the drink combo is like HKD$20 cheaper (roughly).
