Really nice restaurant/bar located on the top of the Upper House hotel in Pacific Place. The hotel entrance can be difficult to find since it doesn't have clear signage. It's located next to the JW Marriott and across from the mall. Drinks: 4 stars Environment: 5 stars Overall: 4.25 stars I came here for drinks and didn't try any of the food. The view and environment here is top notch and is a great place to go to see the view of the city. Cocktails are pricey but also were good. This place is slightly more expensive for breakfast that the JW Marriott (and its in the same building but with a separate entrance) but it's got an amazing view and the food is delicious. The place is super chill, good background music and good vibes from the staff. It also has a chill vibe in the way that it's laid out, there's a feeling of openness. Maybe that feeling has to do with the epic view however. A few seats are in window corners where you get a great panorama view. Other seats are internal but still have a good view from a distance. I would go back, if for no other reason just for the fact that I had something I've never had before anyplace and it was really good. They have an eggs Benedict with short ribs in place of the ham. Was recommended by a friend that we come here for a fancy meal experience with a great view of Hong Kong. I will say, the view is GREAT. It's on the 49th floor, what do you expect? However, it is EXTREMELEY OVERPRICED. I had made reservations for afternoon tea a few days in advance and had notified them that we would need it to be vegetarian. I had also asked that they write a birthday message on one of the plates. We arrived and were seated at a table not near the windows, so we asked for another seat. They were able to help us and seated us at a nice, more private table right next to the window. It was quite comfortable. The service was fine, but I was surprised that they needed to be reminded that we wanted a vegetarian set. The entire ordering process was a bit confusing, and they ended up bringing out non-vegetarian AND vegetarian food. We ended up not bothering them about it, but that was pretty frustrating. I just feel like when you pay such an exorbitant amount of money, they should get things right! The food overall was pretty good, but I would not come back. dined 10/12/14 A little late in reviewing, but it was so positive and enjoyable, that I had to share the good news. What a most wonderful evening, from start to finish!!! Though we had a reservation, and had noted to staff beforehand that we were celebrating our anniversary, they initially seated us at a table that I didn't deem acceptable (adjacent to a large party of 12). Since there were many open tables at that hour (6:30), I requested another table, and Roman, the manager on duty, then seated us at the "best/premium" table at the corner window!!! That certainly put us on the right track for the evening!!! Dinner started off with complimentary champagne!! An order of crabcakes, $245 was shared by us. My wife enjoyed her Barramundi, $395, and my Short Ribs, $also $395, was outstanding. We shared a side of Brussel sprouts, which were equally so well prepared, $65. See photos. Dessert was a special plate of chocolates, also complimentary. And then, we received a special bag /box of their cookies, to go. How utterly enchanting!! But the service throughout the evening was impeccable. Chan, the Sommelier was over to fill our wine glasses, and our waitstaff attended to us on a regular, yet unobtrusive manner. Upon exiting, I met Joey, Chef de Cuisine, and thanked him and his staff for the perfect preparations, as we truly enjoyed every bite. This is an ultimate Hong Kong experience. I enjoyed Cafe Gray when it was in New York City at the Times Warner Center on Columbus Circle. Gray Kunz's cooking matched my taste sensibilities, and I loved eating at Cafe Gray. The room's decor was a bit cold, but the food made up for it. Alas, I was in the minority, because the place closed. Lo and behold, I travel to Hong Kong and the incredibly designed hotel, The Upper House, (Way beyond what I could ever afford) has Cafe Gray as its signature restaurant. They added the moniker "Deluxe" to the name for some reason. Well, deluxe it is, perched on the 49th floor with amazing views of Victoria Harbor and Kowloon. It is a gorgeous restaurant, its zen modern decor complementing the visage. An enormous bar lines the back of the restaurant. Across the bar are opera like alcoves, where lounge patrons can sit at their private window, peering out to that breathtaking view. The restaurant itself is lovely, but I actually enjoyed the lounge area more and would ask to dine there next time. About half the tables in the restaurant enjoy that view. There is an a la carte menu, but the-pre fixe dinner is the better deal at 725 Hong Kong dollars per person. We thoroughly enjoyed each serving, which included several options and choices. Starting with the beet salad and rice balls, we went on to Lobster Linguine. Our entree was Tournedos in truffle jus, with a hunk of foie gras on top. Chocolate souffle and fudge chunks finished our meal. It was all wonderful, and when one considers the gestalt experience, well worth the price of admission. Service was young, but very gracious. We left knowing we wanted to return another day for drinks before we head back to the States. One of my favorite brunch spots in HK! Located on the top floor of the Upper House boutique hotel in HK, Café Gray offers a very nice location for upscale brunch with a view of HK island. They usually offered an option of 2-3 course brunch. Our favorites include the papaya salad (appetizer). We were expecting the Thai style papaya salad ("somtum") but this was a nice surprise where the papayas were served as fresh fruits , which made for a very refreshing healthy dish. For mains, we got their famous shepeard pie and a classic eggs dish. Both are done well. For dissert, we got the six colored ice cream, which tastes "ok" but the look more than makes up for it. It's served in a pretty flower set of cups with varying flavor and color. They also gave complementary chocolate to fnish off the meal. Starter bread and coffee are both average. At night, Café Gray also makes for a perfect drinks / social spot to catch-up with friends and observe the beautiful HK skyline. Reservations needed. read more

Cafe Gray Deluxe is somewhere between a 4 and a 5 for me. I can be overly critical of everything about a "hotel" bar, for it is the specific concept of a "hotel bar" in which I actually measure all bars and lounges. I have been to Cafe Gray on several occasions, but only know felt inclined to write a review. Cafe Gray Deluxe lounge area past the bar with the spectacular view is really the only place I want to sit. It can sometimes be busy with limited seats, so simply know that. You might get lucky one afternoon and there is nobody. Just depends. You might inquire about reserving a spot, but not sure they can do that. Anyway, the view is great. The vibe is tasteful, upscale, yet comfortable and welcoming. And although I mentioned the great view from the lounge area, do yourself a favor ladies and be sure to use the restroom, because the view from their sinks in there is even better! Being a classic martini drinker of most of my adult life, I enjoyed a new and different twist on the classic martini glass that I have only ever seen here (and I never have anything nice to say normally about martinis being served in fancy coupe glass or short stemmed martini variety). This glass is a standard martini stem, but the cone bowl is tiny. And the martini is kept ice cold in a small super chilled vessel alongside your glass. So it is almost like taking small, cold shots of a martini at the perfect temperature each time you pour from the chilled vessel into your tiny martini glass. I kind of liked it a lot and give Cafe Gray Deluxe a nod for this presentation that works well for a martini. Not to mention that the martini is flawlessly executed in preparation... Even getting up there is a luxurious experience - first, you must take a long escalator up and then switch to an elevator that will swiftly carriage you to the top. Oh sweet anticipation, you! Once you reach Cafe Gray Deluxe, you'll notice how sophisticated the space is with its muted color scheme and polished trimmings. And then you'll walk into the dining room and see what you came for: the beautiful views! Yes, we all know that the crème de la crème views live on the Kowloon side, but this view is pretty nice. You won't be disappointed. I had made a reservation for two about 4 days in advance, which afforded us a table next to a window with a glorious view. Service here is really on point, and it only took minutes before our pots of Earl Grey tea and all the savories, sweets, and accoutrements were elegantly presented to us. Because I was told via email that we'd need to kindly return the table two hours later, we took our time and savored every moment... as one does when indulging in afternoon tea! The assortment of darling little edibles was quite impressive: everything from quiche lorraine and open face mozzarella sandwiches to raspberry macarons and pineapple-coconut tartlets to black currant scones. Oh, and there was proper clotted cream! Don't be fooled by the daintiness of everything; I walked away plenty satiated and skipped dinner that evening. I think the tea service is a good value at about $440 HKD for two, which includes the 10% service fee. The non-existence service cafe. 2:40pm "Hi, in looking to have coffee/tea (not a spot for your main dining area." Hostess not concise with her reply, "There is a private event at the bar. I can seat you at the bar." WTF? She tells me that there are seats at the bar but not the semi-private room at the bar area where there is a private event. "I don't need to be in that area, I'd like a table expecting 2 more to join me. What about the tables here along the window?" She didn't realize she didn't ask me how many people am I expecting. "Some of these have reservations" I'm thinking.. and the others? "And the main dining area then?" While there are only a few late lunch patrons wrapping up or having tea already. I told her I can start at the bar and wait till my friends arrive. Nobody offers me a menu or a drink at the bar. All are prepping with their lemon, mint, etc. Finally a seat at the table. 10 mins at the table and nobody offers water while I type this. I had to flag someone to order coffee. The view of the city (even from the windows in the bathroom) is a treat that outstrips the actual afternoon tea service treats. Ask around how exactly to get to the Upper House, we had some problems finding it but were ok once we got there. We moseyed our way up the escalators and rode the elevator to the 49th floor. We were dressed casually enough to be a little self-conscious of all the surrounding fanciness but not enough for people to turn us away. They'll take you even if you're in sneakers, jeans, or leggings. In fact, they took us without reservations or a wait on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising and very much appreciated! We got the afternoon tea service for two. Tea was good (Earl Grey for her and English Breakfast for me). The food? Just ok, a little disappointing actually. The bottom tray delivered plenty of sweetness with chocolate, cheesecake, coconut, and caramel sweets. The savory tray above just couldn't balance things out, with the avocado one being too plain and the glass cup of what tasted like foie gras (but looked like a parfait!) was way too intense to eat in spoonfuls. The pastries on top just echoed the bready components of the sweets. I think there are better tea services out there in the world, but I didn't try any other ones while visiting Hong Kong, so I can't recommend another instead. read more

Three stars. Controversial? Maybe, but you get what you deserve from this Yelper. My wife and I wanted to go someplace really special for our first anniversary. Cafe Grey Deluxe seemed like the most logical destination. As you enter, you know you're in for a memorable experience. The top of the Upper House has unobstructed views of the harbour and Wan Chai. But what boggled my mind was how they faced you with your back to the windows. Why not have tables against the window with seats parallel so you can look out on the view? We had to constantly turn our heads to enjoy the best reason for going there. Now for the food and the service. The food was good. Even exquisite, but by no means the best I've gotten in HK. I expected the best meal I've had (especially for the cost), but it was not. The Caprese salad was certainly the best salad I've ordered in HK, but that's where it ended. The steak was no better than above average and the sides were unremarkable. The service is very attentive and friendly, but I specifically asked for a Tanqueray and Tonic with lime, and was given one with a lemon. Might seem like a small mistake, but when you're paying $3,000 for the meal and experience, they better get every detail correct. I can't recommend that you don't try Cafe Gray Deluxe, because what they do well, they do really well. But I also can guarantee that I won't go back a second time because what they screwed up was unacceptable for a repeat visit to such an expensive place. read more

I didn't have the chance to come here for dinner yet, normally we come here after work or after dinner. There's always a nice crowd here, interesting to watch! Service is impeccable, very attentive and friendly. They have a decent wine list including good choices by the glass. You also find a lot of different cocktails which are done to perfection. Here they pay attention to details. On the bar menu you will also find some snacks if you want something to nibble with your drinks. First and foremost, if you want to have afternoon tea with an unobstructed view of Victoria Harbour then Cafe Gray Deluxe is second-to-none on Hong Kong Island side. We were blessed with clear blue skies when we went! This is my second time having afternoon tea at Cafe Gray Deluxe and it was just as good as I remembered it. It's common they do themed ones with designers, but we had their classic set this time around. Everything was very good, but I think the scones were my favorite. They were served warm which made it extra amazing. The cream and jam that comes with it made the scones extra delicious. Aside from the scones, I surprisingly liked the carrot cake. I am normally not the biggest fan of carrot cake but because this was wrapped in a thinly sliced carrot, it gave it an extra crunchy texture that I loved. The dark chocolate was amazing and creamy, the lemon meringue was tangy, and the quiche had a fluffy crust. The only thing that I wasn't a big fan of was the macaron, but I generally don't like macarons because I think they're too sweet. The waitstaff was efficient at refiling my water and I really appreciate that because I drink a lot of water. Located on the 49th floor of the Upper House Hotel, Cafe Gray Deluxe is a special spot for breakfast. My wife an I dined there every morning during our four day stay and had a great experience with every meal. For breakfast they offer a couple fixed menu courses as well as a generous list of a la carte selections. We tended towards the latter on the menu with everything from granola and yogurt to eggs and griddle options. My wife's favorite was the truffle scrambled eggs while I think the blueberry pancake was tops. The scrambled eggs are served in a beautiful arrangement inside a large slice of toast with the center cut out and layered with generous slices of truffle. The blueberry pancake is the thickest I have every encountered but surprisingly light despite its girth. It's topped with delicious warm blueberries and cream. We also paired our dishes with a side of bacon that always came out too crispy for my liking until I started asking for it to be prepared medium. On another occasion, I enjoyed their Nutella infused French toast. Another surprisingly delicate dish full of flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. On top of the toast were some fresh berries and a large dollop of cream. I also liked their scrambled eggs but if you are from the West make sure to order your eggs well done to get something close to what you are used to back home. The one pan egg dish is exceptional and something that could easily carry you through an entire day of walking around Hong Kong. In addition to a scrambled egg, there are diced potatoes, slices of sausage, chunks of bacon and slices of ham served in the bowl. My wife enjoyed their coffee every morning but did find it very strong and stuck to just a single cup. I being decaffeinated went with their fresh, thick and pulpy orange juice every time. Service is top notch at the restaurant. The servers are attentive but not too much to be an annoyance. The food is brought out promptly and at the proper temperature. Everyone we ran into up there was very nice and spoke excellent English making it easy to order exactly what we wanted. On the occasions where we strayed a little from the menu or had a special request, it was handled expertly and correctly every time. If we ever needed something, all we had to do was make brief eye contact with someone and they would come right over. The view from the 49th floor is spectacular overlooking Victoria Harbor and Kowloon in the distance. The atmosphere has a sophisticated air to it but not stuffy. Most mornings I noticed and enjoyed the upbeat background music lending energy to get your day started. The view of HK and Kowloon from Cafe Gray Deluxe, especially at night, is absolutely stunning! Cafe Gray Deluxe prides itself on "Modern European" cuisine. They take your classic pasta, vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes and elevate them to a whole new level, experimenting with different textures and flavors. Each dish comes with it's own strong flavors, and can be a bit hearty, bold and heavy at times. I've been here on three occasions - dinner the first and third time, drinks the second time. During my first visit (Jan 2016), we had the Saffron Pasta Fiori (a hot appetizer), the Caramelized Quail with Figs, and the Pan Roasted Icelandic Cod with Lentils. I found the lentils to be quite salty for my taste --- hence the strong flavors...or maybe I have sensitive taste buds? We were so full after the three dishes, but somehow managed to squeeze in a dessert of vanilla ice cream with rose tea peaches & macadamia nuts. Overall, dinner was satisfying and surprisingly very filling --- I was expecting small portions when ordering, but turned out to be quite substantial, well-worth the price. However, after my first meal here, I was hesitant about returning. We were seated by the window (though not at a prime window seat looking out towards the harbor), and the seating was a bit cramped for the two of us - considering we were 'sandwiched' between two other tables of two. Two conversations going on around us...how on earth were we supposed to have ours?! Two businessmen on our right were raving about the best Fine de Claire oysters they'd ever tasted, while two other businessmen on our left were discussing the business environment of India. What do you expect on a Thursday night? My second dining experience was fairly recent, taking place over the long Labor Day weekend. In making a dinner reservation for this meal, I called two days in advanced for a reservation at 6:45pm, party of four. After confirming the reservation, I was told we would have to give up our table at 8:45pm. "Oh, why so exact?" I asked myself. Perhaps they were very busy, and someone had made a reservation for 9pm...? In order to avoid feeling rushed during dinner, I called back, requesting a change in time to 6pm. Perhaps that would give us more time to enjoy our dinner. They immediately replied that we would have to give up the table at 8pm. Oh my... I decided to stay with the original 6:45pm reservation in the end. Case in point, they only give you 2 hours to dine. On the day of, we arrived early to the bar for pre-dinner beverages and to enjoy the afternoon view of Victoria Harbor. For appetizers, I had the Cavatelli Primavera, while my parents ordered the Soup Du Jour - a tasty light cream of corn soup with vegetables. Halfway through my cavatelli, the fullness started to sink in. (FYI, cavatelli is torpedo/hot-dog buns-shaped pasta) How was I supposed to take in my main course? For the mains, we ordered the following: - 12oz. Striploin steak, which came on a board with onion rings and creamed spinach - Grilled red snapper with braised fennel, green olives, in a bergamot emulsion - Sea bass atop a bed of braised vegetables and sundried tomatoes (can't recall the sauce as it was too beautiful to look at) Last but not least, dessert. Always faced with the question, yes or no? I caved and ordered the double chocolate banoffee pie, which came with rum raisins and a lovely scoop of banana gelato. Overall, the quality of food is absolutely TOP-NOTCH. The only minor complaint I have is that we didn't finish the steak, leaving about half on the board ~ around 6oz ~ so we asked for it to be packed to-go. But even after bringing us dessert, they still hadn't brought it out. As we paid for the bill, we inquired about it only to be told that their staff forgot to pack it and discarded it. A complete waste of perfectly cooked steak - that's like HK$300 right there! Drinks: Earl Grey Martini was delicious! (HK$120) I don't normally take cocktails given their high sugar content but considering this was their specialty, I couldn't resist. I've always wanted to try their breakfast and afternoon tea sets. My girlfriend and I went for their afternoon tea set. It was a day we decided to take it easy, to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We took our sweet time, 2+ hours to enjoy all the snacks they offered and drink our tea with the gorgeous view of the Victoria harbor. This place is so beautiful; the interior is really gorgeous, the view is spectacular, and the service is excellent. Some places just ooze posh-ness, and this is definitely one of them. The clientele was a little stiff and business-y for my taste, but some people are into that I guess. And to be fair, I was at Café Gray at noon on a Tuesday so I guess that's to be expected. The burrata salad was one of the better salads I've had anywhere (and I've not had many good salads in Hong Kong), and the steak frites was a well-prepared, high-quality piece of meat that came with excellent fries and some bonus onion rings. I'm not a fan of oysters, but I hear they were also quite good! At the end of our lunch, we were presented with a platter of delicious milk and dark chocolates so fancy I probably wouldn't have bought them had I been in a chocolate shop. So lovely! The best view for afternoon tea is at Cafe Gray Deluxe. At the 49th floor, on a sunny day, the view is nothing short of spectacular. Their tea set was chock full of pastries and savories. It was even more fulfilling than MO's afternoon tea set. I really enjoyed the tea set that they had that day, the savories were so delicious I didn't have much room for the pastries. After a couple if years I made my return to an old favorite - Cafe Gray, located at the top of the Upper House. I have been here at least 10 times since it opened, and wanted to take a couple of colleagues who had not been. A review of Cafe Gray has to start with the ambiance. Once you get off the elevator and make your way over to the lounge area you are greeted with a great view of Central and the harbour looking over to TST and TST East. I once watched the Chinese New Year fireworks display from the lounge.....it was awesome! While it is a bit pricier than similar spots in NYC and Toronto, the cocktail prices are reasonable by HK standards. The cocktails are inventive and tasty, though for the price I would expect them to be stronger. For this particular visit I cannot recall the name of the cocktail that I selected, but it had Yellow Chartreuse. (Photo included). Since this was a quick meeting before a later dinner, we shared a large Chracuterie platter and Polenta fries. Such an elegant place for high tea! And not too expensive as far as HK high tea goes. The service is as to be expected in a higher-end establishment. Most of the servers speak a little or moderate English. My friend and I ordered a high tea set for 2, and we each got to choose a pot of tea. I think the set changes from time to time, e.g. different flavors of macarons. The set came in about ~15min. It was so cute! All the little pastries and desserts looked well made and yummy. The biscuits were quite large but a little dry, but the yummy tray of jams saved them. The middle level consisted of savories, all of which were okay but nothing you can't make at home. The bottom level was filled with sweets, many of which I liked. The sweet cream pudding topped with mango was so delicious. Very, very sweet but delicious. I enjoyed the cheesecake and red velvet cakes as well. Both were also very sweet, which is a bit strange since I've found HK sweets to be not-as-sweet. I guess these are western sweets though. The mint macaron was a bit too...grassy tasting, and the chocolate pastry was way too rich for me to handle. All in all, I'm happy I tried out high tea in HK. Cafe Gray Deluxe is as good as any high tea cafe in the Ritz or Peninsula at about half the price. read more

Came here with a good friend of mine who recently moved to Hong Kong and had been wanting to try the afternoon tea here. We didn't make a reservation and the place was quite full on a Sunday afternoon, but luckily we got a table by the window with a beautiful view of the harbor. We were dressed very casually (since coming was an act of spontaneity) and the staff were only slightly snooty haha. The afternoon tea was for the most part very tasty. I really enjoyed the sweets, and while the savories were good as well, I was less impressed (especially by the foie gras coupe thing which neither of us could handle). It was an enjoyable experience with the view and the yummy treats, but I didn't feel like the overall afternoon tea justified the cost. read more

Located on the 49th floor of the UpperHouse, the views are incredible. Lucky enough to score a reservation by the window, I found myself glancing out the window all afternoon as we ate our treats and drank our tea (the house blend is very nice). Finally, a big thank you to the woman who provided NYE recommendations. She went out of her way to help us out and it was definitely appreciated. Also, egg nog. I used to come here for breakfast almost every day. I work in pacific place one, right across, I can actually see Upper House from my window. I would order the Bircher muesli, or the eggs Benedict. My friends/coworkers would order the eggs on toast with caviar, or their own egg and bacon and sausage dish with toast. I have been a few times for lunch and dinner, but I must say their weekend brunch is the best meal. You can ask the staff, try asking a senior staff, because their junior staff is not very bright and almost annoying when they can't take orders from their customers. I know the management there and the management is fine, just need to fix some of the staff's attitude. Who knows, maybe they're just on their period that day. Happy hour is always full, probably because it's right next to the many office buildings, but what you probably don't know is that you can drink out on the patio after you go up the escalator before u get on the elevator. It's nice and chill, and I would recommend just ordering wine or coffee or tea if you drink there because otherwise staff will have to go upstairs to get your cocktails made, which takes forever. Overall, I love the hotel. I just wish some of the breakfast staff would be nicer and listen to their customers and not show attitude. Because in the end, experience does play an important role in the customer's perception :) read more

I've been here for afternoon tea, dinner and drinks. My favorite would have to be dinner. Last time we came, we were pleasantly surprised at what a nice seat we got. Between the two of us, we had a seat overlooking Hong Kong. I know to find a good view in HK isn't hard but this was truly a stunning view! The dinner here was excellent. Everything was impeccable, from the wait staff to the presentation of the dishes, to the flavours. It was oh so yummy. This was a while ago but I could still remember the steak. It was perfect, if that steak was a man, I would've married it! It was grilled to perfection, the wagyu was tender with a bit of crisp on the exterior. Why can't all steaks be that good? We enjoyed our dinner so much, a comfortable ambience, delicious food, great wine recommendation from the sommelier and great company. Oh and desserts were pretty awesome too. I tend to visit Cafe Gray mostly in the day - the delicious breakfasts and coffee make it a great venue for a morning meeting and on a nice day, you feel like you can drink it all in whilst getting on with your work. The window side seating booths that run along the bar are my favourite place to sit and feel semi-private due to the cleverly angled tables. The views at Cafe Gray also make this a great spot for tourists and I love taking my parents for cocktails when they visit me in Hong Kong. They make a mean dirty martini but their champagne cocktails are also delicious - cocktails hover around the $120 mark but there are also at least 20 wines offered by the glass with some priced very reasonably. The bar is buzzing on any evening with a mix of hotel guests, local fashionistas and businessmen. Again, the window seating garners the best views but you'll catch the Kowloon skyline from most anywhere in the room... and also the restrooms! Snackwise, the Polenta Fries are irresistibly moreish and a good way to soak up your drink. read more

This is a great spot for drinks or a small bite either with visitors to Hong Kong or residents just looking to relax and enjoy the view.  They do 'real' food too, it's just that i've always been for drinks with colleagues and the like. As I said before, the view is a major feature here - but if you're unlucky enough to be seated away from a window - just excuse yourself for a moment, the view from the ladies is fantastic too (sorry gents, can't comment on whether this trick works just as well for you). If you'll allow me to share a small trick - when you're done, unless you nab a cab as you come out the door, walk around to the Shangri-La; the Upper HouseIs at the wrong end of a circular drive that services three hotels, one major shopping centre and a large apartment complex and empty cabs will be snaffled before they get all the way around to you. read more

The dishes on the rotating Revitalising Menu (vegan, non-gluten, organic) were sublime. The flavor combinations, textures, and presentation were next-level. I've never experienced vegan food like this and plan to visit again for next month's menu. read more

Looking for good western food, gorgeous views, and are willing to splurge (think $600 HKD for an app and a main course, not to mention drinks and service charge)? If so, then Cafe Gray is calling your name. The dishes themselves may not be too imaginative, but they are look great upon presentation and taste as good as they look. The pork chop was as good as any I've had back in the US as was the creamed spinach. My knocks against Cafe Gray is that the service was subpar for such a high end restaurant (it was as if they were purposefully avoiding us), and that the decor seemed modern yet dated at the same time (like a trendy place in LA or San Francisco 15 years ago). read more

Also the view is excellent but make sure you make a reservation otherwise they will not give you a table next to the windows. We would definitely come back some time for drinks as well. Met up with an old friend here after he hyped up the view - he was freakin' right! I can't think of a bar with a better view in New York (or anywhere else for the matter) but I was totally blown away. You can see all of HK from up here, so with that I expected some incredibly high prices, because with nice views usually comes expensive drinks. Not the case here as it was reasonably priced - maybe a bit more or the same as a drink at a nice cocktail bar. The space was gorgeous as well, definitely good to take a date here or impress difficult to please out-of-towners *raises hand* Managed to get a seat right by the large window with no problems on a weekday around 7pm. I got the earl grey martini, which was strong as heck, and while not as good as the one I had at Quinary, it was still mighty tasty and gave me a nice buzz. read more

You are paying for the view. Point blank. Which is worth every dime! We had high tea and I love tea so that part was great. The pastries...some were a bit weird tasting, I'm also biased and i do not like whipped or creamed type fillings so... if you do some of the items i didn't care for will be right up your alley. That scone though!!! Love that scone! And all the savories (there are only three). Make a reservation if you must have a seat next to the window otherwise just get there. read more
