I went on a Friday night around 7pm and it wasn't crowded. My husband and I ordered appetizers to share: chicken satay and spring rolls. The chicken was tender and flavorful, but the peanut sauce was served on the side and it was too sweet. The spring rolls were crispy, but needed salt and the peach dipping sauce was overly sweet. I was really craving some acid and spice but it was very one note. Our entrees did not disappoint. I ordered the "drunken noodle" dish with beef. It was excellent. The noodles were perfect, the vegetables fresh and it had just the right amount of spice - enough to keep me sipping my thai iced tea. The dish was rated 1 of 3 as indicated by a pepper icon on the menu. I wouldn't have wanted it any spicier. My husband ordered a crispy duck dish that was a special. It did not have a spiciness rating, so he asked the waitress if it could be made spicy. She said they could make it spicy on a scale of 1 to 5. He said 4 and she talked him out of it (eyebrows raised, "4... are you sure?") and he changed his mind to 3. He wished he had stuck with 4 as the dish was not as spicy as he would have liked. My dish was spicier with the 1 of 3 pepper rating. Needless to say their spice factors are confusing and possibly a crap shoot. We skipped dessert but we will definitely be returning. Service was pretty good. My only complaint was they hawked our table and cleared the plates as soon as the last bite was still being chewed. There was an appropriate amount of time between appetizers and entrees. I didn't get sick like some other reviews have stated, but I didn't order seafood. The tables were small and close together. Luckily it wasn't a problem, but if there was a crowd in the restaurant I imagine it would be loud and uncomfortable. I'm not an expert on Thai food - and this place claims to be "Thai fusion" - but I can attest that the ingredients were much higher quality and fresher than any other asian restaurant I have been to in the area. read more

This is the best Thai I have ever eaten. I was hesitant to write about the place as I am worried that my precious little gem will get so crowded that you will need a reservation or have to wait in line. It is a bit small and cramped, but OMG, the food! What do I write about first? The fragrant butternut squash soup (ask for it even if its not on the Menu), their light, graceful version of sweet and sour soup? The special grilled tilapia was fabulous, as was the special shrimp with tiny bay scallops. Lovely sweet rice wrapped in banana ll I've never had Pad Thai here as there are too many new dishes to try but I bet its amazing. The pistachio souffle with chocolate sauce was *the best* souffle I have ever had, so light and full of flavor. I can't wait to go back and try yet another dish. I am so delighted with this restaurant, no matter how many times I go there, there is always something special. read more

I'm quite selective about Thai food, but also understand that you can't really find a " real " taste outside their country unless you cook it yourself (even for that) This place is one of the good restaurants I have been to. I work in walking distance of Bhan Thai and gave it a try for lunch this week. While I loved the food (Chicken Pad Ce-Ew) the service was terrible. I ordered a soda with lunch that came in a can. It promptly exploded all over the table. I had to request napkins (I was give ONE) and the $2 can was not replaced. When my food came I had no napkins and was given some cocktail napkins when I asked for more. I wound up getting some paper towels from the bathroom. Take-out only for me! read more

I'm not a spicy fan so I made sure I had no peppers next to my entrée choice on the menu. However, those who were with me like spice in varying quantities (more peppers for them the better) FYI noodles seem to be spicy. Their pistachio ice cream is yummy! read more

Owner: As for your response... your Thai Tea is served in a pot already steeped, prepared in the kitchen, served without tea bags, and is the color orange. It was served along with one empty cup. The other teas you have available are served with a pot of hot water and one tea bag per cup. A charge per cup makes sense for those teas.. but not for the teapot with already steeped tea in it. But I'm guessing you knew that. ...and that does not explain the rude service by your staff and owner to a repeat customer. read more

I have been craving chicken pad thai so after a lot of research we landed on Bhan Thai. The service was above amazing. We had a server and another girl who were both working our table and could not have been more sweet and kind. My husband ordered tea and they brought it out right away in a tea pot with a mug and a plate of limes, he asked for honey which they also brought out right away. We were really intrigued with the lime for the tea and gave it a try and it was really good! We both ordered chicken pad thai and I hate to say it, but I was a little underwhelmed. It wasn't bad by any means, but it just wasn't the best I have had. The weirdest thing was that I couldn't finish my entire plate, so I took the other half to go to eat the next day for lunch. It tasted so much better the next day! I would definitely come back again The one thing we were surprised by, and this has ZERO reflection on the food or staff, was there is a portrait place next door and there were a few families there having pictures taken and some of the kids were having meltdowns which your could hear through the wall, it was odd, but we did find some humor in it read more

I went to this restaurant for my first time based on previous reviews I had the snapper fish with chili sauce it was good I was amazed they served me the entire fish it was to much to eat in one serving I also had fried rice with shrimp that was fabulous the best fried rice I ever had I also ordered the spring rolls they were crispy on the outside but the inside was a little mushy . I gave them a 4 out of 5 for this reason I went for lunch and there were people waiting in line to get in as I was leaving I would go back again read more

The food is delicious with plenty of vegetarian options including "imitation duck" and prices are reasonable. Decor is modern and slightly upscale, suitable for a special occasion or a business meal. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that service can be slow and inconsistent. Although the staff is friendly, they seem to be easily overwhelmed during peak hours. Also, one evening, we were the last to dine and the staff seemed eager to get us out of the restaurant: definitely not a good way to treat your customers. Glad to see a good Thai place close by, but hope that the service improves to match the rest of the experience. read more

We went to Bhan Thai for the first time today. What a great meal! We started out with a crab meat pancake as an appetizer, and we each had a curry entree (one green, one masaman). The food was absolutely exceptional. We'll definitely be back to try more. read more

This was our first time to Bhan Thai, and we will definitely be coming back. My husband and I arrived on a Saturday evening at 8 for dinner, and it was nice to see a restaurant so busy. In fact, people were still coming in at 9. The wait staff was friendly and relatively attentive, and the restaurant overall was casual yet contemporary. And clean! We unfortunately started off with an order of mussels - which I do not recommend. We love mussels and usually order them wherever we go. The mussels were chewy and gritty - and contained some hard things that we knew didn't belong in mussels. At one point, my husband spit a beard out of his mouth. Our entrees were much better. I had green curry with tofu - delicious! Appropriately spicy (on the hot side - which I prefer) and very smooth. The sticky rice that accompanied it was great. My husband had the rack of lamb and loved it. The lamb was done perfectly, and the sauce and vegetables were wonderful. And spicy! The menu is broad, though not overwhelming. Everything we saw was beautifully plated and looked delicious. We look forward to our next visit to Bhan Thai! read more

Our first time here on Saturday night ,the food was excellent.All the fresh ingredients were used.We had the Grilled Shrimp and Scallops,it is done well here, love the chili sauce and sticky rice in banana leaf. the spring rolls are also good for an appetizer. The first time I had chicken pad thai, I ordered a 3 star and it was super spicy. The next time I went back I ordered a 2 star and it was extremely bland. Earlier this week my bf and I ordered the chicken pad thai 1 star and a 3 star and they tasted exactly the same. Of course, each star is going to taste differently to everyone but just bummed bc I want to love this place but in my opinion the flavoring is inconsistent. I was bummed bc I spent $40 on take out (ordered appetizers as well) and when I called to confirm if I got two 1 starts or I actually received a chicken pad thai one star and three star and the employee was pretty much like yah well we gave you the right thing and that is how it taste. I rather eat the Indian food next door at Monsoon! I'll pass on this place in the future but I will say they have a nice sitting area inside. read more

This has to be the worst gym I ever belonged to. I cancelled my membership. The trainers do nothing but harass you and are rude and obnoxious. There is one female trainer who acts like she owns the gym. I wouldn't go there for free!!!!! Its a shame because the equipment is excellent they just have the wrong employees. read more

We've been here a few times, so it's not a fluke. The food is consistently delicious. Tonight there were 4 of us and every dish we had was fabulous, from appetizers (try the chicken curry puffs) to entree (yum BT Rack of lamb) to desert (soufflé ). The only negative was that the restaurant is chilly because there's no barrier between the door and the restaurant, letting the winter air in. It won't stop me from coming back though. read more

I have eaten here three times and picked up takeout once. The food has been consistently good. The papaya salad with tofu is, by far, my favorite menu item. The curries are delicious as well. It is a small place, so be prepared to wait a bit on weekends, although the wait is typically not more than 15-20 minutes. read more

Came in for lunch and had the Pad Thai. It tasted fine, not the best I ever had but also not bad. I would have preferred if it were a little dryer. If you have never been to Bhan Thai I definately recommend that you check it out. I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in the area and so far this is the best I ever had. The food here is also the most authentic I have found other than going to Thailand. Everything is always so fresh and they always give you generous portions. The eggplant basil and green curry are two of our favorite choices but there are many other delicious selections on the menu to chose from. The staff is always friendly and courteous and as soon as you walk in the establishment you know that it is clean and well taken care of. read more

Food is good but I was charged for each glass of regular iced tea (not Thai tea... Just Regular iced tea.) when I asked for a refill she should have informed me I would be charged an additional $3 for each glass. They're small glasses to begin with. I have already visited this restaurant once before as I like to try different dishes from other countries. I probably should have written a review then since I had enjoyed their food tremendously. When I ordered the dish called 'Shrimp Pad Kee Mao' or 'Drunken Noodle', I did not expect to be surprised even more with the quality of their dishes. The noodles were so light, the shrimps were of such freshness, and the vegetables had such an inviting color, that I almost forgot to pay attention to a sauce I wish I had its recipe. It made everything taste like food for royalty. Of course, I had already been appreciative of a great service, where the manager made a point of making me feel welcome and like a VIP. Though I like to try new things and new dishes, I may become addicted to this single dish. It is definitely worth the trip. read more

I was visiting the Mount Laurel area and searched Yelp for a tasty Thai place. So I dined here at Bhan Thai on Wed based on the Yelp reviews I was really let down and not impressed by the food at all. Perhaps being Asian myself, my taste buds can distinguish the great and Not so great Asian cuisine. This was Not so great. Pad Thai was well cooked but the seasonings was average. The Scallops was nicely seared, again, the seasonings was not what I expected, it was really salty but the coconut sticky rice definitely blew my mind. So here's the 5 stars for just the rice alone. So why only 2 stars? The service and attitude the frumpy waitress gave the impression she was miserable. When we asked questions about the dishes, she responded as if we were idiots and were horribly inconveniencing her. Note there were only about total of 6 tables w/ guests when we went so it wasn't like she was overwhelmed. Seem more like she had a bad day and was taking it out on customers. She didn't smile, she had an attitude and service took forever in a place w/ only 6 tables, hence there loses 3 stars. Definitely wont be returning even if I did like the only 1 item, coconut sticky rice. read more
