I was just there yesterday for lunch. Ordered the penang curry for take-out. It was fantastic. Excellent consistency of curry and spice. No unnecessary vegetables or weird mixins. Came with white rice and a thai salad with a tangy carrot ginger house dressing. My total was $9.58 and the cashier wouldn't let me charge it because there was a $10 minimum. Trivial. I will be back to try their red curry and pad thai soon. Try to avoid the lunch time rush like 12-2p cause EVERY TABLE WAS FULL. I was there at 1230p and the place had 20-30 tables. The Drunken Noodles was yummy (just the right amount of spices.), The Iced Thai Tea is great (one of my favorites at Thai places) The Panang Curry was good as well. I came here with my mom for a dinner date tonight and we had excellent service and great food! The waitress was timely and attentive yet not overbearing. I had Tom Yum soup w/ chicken to start. It was quite spicy so watch out if that is not your thing! I have had better Tom Yum soup with lemongrass and more veggies in it so that is why I took off 1 star. The broth had a good flavor. I also ordered the Green Curry with chicken which I had never had before. There was an abundance of veggies which I loved and a good balance between sweet coconut and heat! The portion was large and I have leftovers for tomorrow. My mom ordered the teriyaki salmon w/ bok choy special. Her portion was even larger and the salmon was cooked perfectly. I lived in Philly for 5 years and lived close to several amazing Thai restaurants. I had to move to SJ and was really sad that I haven't found a good Thai restaurant in south jersey. Finally, I was able to try Bhan Thai and LOVED IT. My husband and I wanted to try a place we've never been to before and he suggested to come to Bhan Thai for the first time. Food was amazing. We had the spring rolls - which was really good and wasn't rolling in grease. Then we had my chicken Thai basil which was too spicy for my liking. I wish I was able to handle to handle the spice because it was really good. My husband ordered the buttered shrimp and I wish I ordered the same thing. It had shrimp and scallops in there that was cooked to perfection. Their crab fried rice? Best thing Rice I've had!!! Plus you top it off with their dessert. Thanks for a perfect night Bhan Thai! We will def come back... just stop tempting me when I'm at the gym next door and can smell all the delicious food you're all cooking. read more

The food was very good, but careful they should write 15% minimum tip required. when we were leaving the table, we gave about 12% tip to be more precise. The waitress called us from the door and asked "is anything wrong with the service that you didn't give me 15% tip". In the end, she got so offensive when we asked whether it is compulsory to give 15% tip. She yelled and went back inside. but hey, she got 20% tip after that argument with us. Horrific service. I have been to this place 4 times and each & every time the service is bad. First the staff never sits you down or attend to me until I approach them at the cashier desk. After I sitting down, it takes over 5 mins or my beckoning before I get any more attention. The last time was the last straw. I went in with my cousins and they just kept staring at us... Eventually we were told there was no space to sit us while therre were clearly empty chairs in front of us. Anyways... I ll be keeping my cash to spend elsewhere. read more

My husband and I went for dinner last night and had a great experience. I was a little worried about the service complaints from previous reviews, but everything was top-notch. We were seated quickly and given time to look over the menu. Even though we stuck with ice water our glasses were refilled often. The food was delicious - some of the best Thai I've had in recent memory. We both got the Tom Kha soup, mine with chicken and his with shrimp. My chicken was a little tough, but the broth was incredibly flavorful and chock full of mushrooms and chicken. I only got one piece of red bell pepper, which was disappointing but a minor complaint. For our entrees he got the special, Chu Chee Duck which was in a curry sauce with baby bok choy. He loves duck and usually asks them to make him a mussaman curry with duck, but he thought he'd try the special. He liked it but wasn't overly excited. I got the chicken mussaman and was thrilled. It was also chock full of chicken, sweet potato, regular potato and other veggies. The portions were huge, although for the amount of curry I wished for more rice. We had to ask for another portion of rice with our leftovers and were charged $1 for each. My only real complaint is that I try to eat slowly so as I was slurping up the last of the soup the waitress was putting my entree down on the table. The soup had taken a little longer than expected to arrive and I wished there had been some lag time between the soup and entree. We will definitely be back. My husband works in Mt. Laurel and is thrilled to have found a new place for lunch. read more

We don't get to visit this area very often any more, but when we do, we are always delighted with the dining experience. The curries are top notch and "my" bench mark entree - Pad Thai is still extraordinarily good. The menu is now augmented with daily chef's specials, such as a delightful Thai Sui Mai (with crab and pork stuffing) appetizer that we enjoyed very much yesterday. In short, this is not your run of the mill Thai / Asian restaurant, but is well worth visiting ... Your senses will thank you for it - trust me! Don't be put off by the fact that it is at one end of an "upscale" strip mall. FWIW, Monsoon (Indian) is also one of favorite old haunts! read more

Its unfortunate i have to give one star for this thai place and you will learn as you read along why I am using the word "Unfortunate" here. Their food is just so yum! so flavorful and fresh. Te ambience reminds me of my florida days. I ordered Green curry and it was heavenly. It was the best green curry I had had in a long time. Good quality Green tea stash, Good service too. My Dh ordered Eggplant basil curry and Iced coffee and he loved it. Quantity is good for the price. My hubby was so happy with the food, he tipped the chef exclusively over and above the 20% tip. Stomach full, satisfied, and our mouth on fire(we like spicy food) we happily walked out of the restaurant hand-in-hand swearing in our minds to come back often. Its all started in the night when we both had an upset stomach. We liked everything so much about tis place, we dint wanted to rule the stomach upset was from the lunch we had at Bhani Thai. So we got a take out again the following week. Ordered a completely diff dish, and Alas!! had the same stomach upset episode again. I am tempted to give one more try here. Very early dinner on a Sunday for 6 with only 2 other tables occupied so none of the "cramped" issues and staff very accommodating in adjusting too cool temp for us. I cant say enough positive things about the food. Total of 3 different dishes among the group and each loved their entree. The chef adjusted the heat as requested. A quaint yet elegant place to dine. We started with the chicken satay, which was grilled to perfection (great with the peanut sauce) and the chicken tom yum soup. The soup was a bit salty and could have been balanced a little better with some sugar. For the entree, we had the beef pad khing and chicken red curry. Both entrees were delicious! When the credit card is swiped, the tip again appeared blank as if they haven't charged you any tip. Bad business practice. I don't understand why they try to 'make money' this way. Place has good reviews so we were excited to go. But our experience did not pan out as well. Pros: Good design, BYOB Cons: We ordered drunken noodles with shrimp, pad thai, and pad prik khing. They brought out chicken for the first dish. When we pointed that out they brought a shrimp noodle dish that was closer but also not the right one (it wasn't spicy), which we didn't realize until half way through the dish. They did apologize, but acted like it wasn't a big deal. Pad thai was so-so - made with thin noodles instead of broad ones and was lacking the correct sweet-sour balance. So pad prik khing was the only passable dish without mistakes, but we asked for a little bit of extra rice (because our children ended up eating plain white rice instead of flavorless pad thai), the server said she had to bring and charge us for a whole portion of rice. We ended up very disappointed. Considering the high prices, the service was more on a level of cheap take-out. They made multiple mistakes on a dish, then charged us full price for it and were not even willing to bring a couple of tablespoons of complimentary white rice. Never going back again! read more

We had the calamari, Tom Yam soup, chicken fried rice and a couple of entrees. Found it odd that the food trended a bit sweet and they used parsley in the food instead of cilantro. Service was atrociously bad - the waitress took my six year old's plate away even though she wasn't done eating! We've always been huge fans of Thai food and enjoy sampling the various restaurants regionally and even when we're on the road. I feel fortunate to have a number of good Thai places relatively nearby my home in Burlington Township, NJ. We've been to Bhan Thai five times since it opened about a month ago. It instantly became my favorite Thai restaurant and we haven't been to any others since. I normally select various dishes since I embrace the notion that 'variety is the spice of life'. However, now that I've tried Bhan Thai's Masaman Curry, I'm not entirely certain that I'll order anything else, any time soon! It really would not be an overstatement to say that its just awesome! I had it last night and am already looking forward to savoring it again. So far, this place has been consistently outstanding in every regard. I hope they keep it up! read more

Amazing authentic Thai! We've been here twice and have eaten plenty! The fried calamari is the most tenders and crisp I've ever had. The green mango salad is refreshing and sweet, crisp and delicious. Fried rice galore! Many flavors to choose from and many different curries. We left very guilty and happy! I suggest you give it a try! The atmosphere is open and bright at lunch time. The service is quick and polite. The restaurant is clean and quiet. We never had dessert because we were to full. Looking for lunch with seven coworkers prior to a packed afternoon. VP yelped and found Bhan Thai. It was Noon but they were able to squeeze tables so we could all sit together. (A little later, it would have been impossible because the place was packed!). Although it's in a strip mall, the decor is simple and bright. All lunch entrees start with the soup of the day or salad. The soup was "clear soup." I had the salad but looking at the dishes, the soup must have been good. The salad was iceberg lettuce, carrots, tomato, cucumbers with a sweet dressing which I should have asked for on-the-side. Everybody's entrees came at once. There was a good variety - shrimp, chicken and vegetables in curry and noodle dishes - perfect lunch portions. I had Pad Thai with vegetables - medium spice. It was very good. Thin noodles, lots of vegetables, and a nicely spiced sauce that didn't taste like out of a jar. I couldn't finish everything on my plate! Also had the Iced Thai Coffee - I love Iced Thai Coffee and this was good but, the Iced Thai Tea that my coworker had was so much better... My family and I love to come here for dinner. We also love to grab stuff to go as well. My personal favorite is the drunken noodle chicken, depending on my mood. I also like the Bhan Thai Rice with Chicken. I love the Chicken Coconut Soup and the Thai Iced Tea as well, but we gotta cut the calories at some point!
