Impressed! Home style feel, portions are more than adequate for a hearty breakfast. The omelette was decent but the Chilaquiles with the homemade refried beans, delicious with a nice spicy kick too! I added a side biscuit and gravy just to try. The gravy is peppery and better than average but the biscuit was fluffy big and top notch. This is a very busy big place but we were seated within 5 minutes on a Sunday morning. We maybe at times got a little forgotten about but if you're not on a time crunch with good company, who cares. I've been here other times and I'm not gonna lie. The food is good. The 2-star rating is due to the poor customer service. My family and I waited about 15 minutes without being greeted, handed a menu or even glanced at. The restaurant was busy but not so busy that a hello have been shared. The waitress stopped by the table next to us no less than 4 times before we got up and left. To be honest, there's too many breakfast spots in the area to sacrifice for service. read more

They have great breakfasts here. The food is quite good and the prices are very reasonable. The only downside is that at peak times they often get quite crowded (deservably so) and you might have to wait for a table. The service can also sometimes be slow. However, you won't go wrong if you decide to eat here. read more

Wish I could give no stars. Gave this place many chances and they fail me everytime... this last time was the last. Ordered curbside, got there, call and girl says I have to go inside to pick up. We order curbside for many reasons so why offer it if you're not going to follow it? I'd understand if it was busy but it was literally dead... girl was just being lazy. It's okay, that wasn't the main issue... picked up my order, and I immediately got an attitude... still not the main issue, they forgot to give me an item which I then went back for and asked politely for.. her answer... I've been here twice. The main reason this place doesn't have a 5 star yelp rating is because of their slow service. (If you want faster service, try seating near the main area so you can flag them down. If you sit far away, you'll get extra slow service) The food is excellent! The chilaquiles are some of the best I've had, and I usually order these when i go to Mexico. The hash browns are crispy and cooked all the way through. The potatoes are always cooked through perfectly (which is rare for breakfast places). The pancakes are pretty good and the eggs are cooked well. Ask for extra salsa bc theirs is homemade and tastes amazing on eggs. Their biscuits are great and their country gravy appears homemade and tastes great as well. Try their sausages, they're amazing and cooked to perfection. I do admittedly stay here at least a half hour longer than I'd like, but come with ppl you don't mind talking to lol. I rarely rate places based on service, as all I care about is the food. To those who rightfully get angry with slow service, sit closer to the waiters and don't be afraid to ask for things that you want. This place rocks of you have time to relax and eat a longer breakfast with friends you enjoy hanging out with. The chilaquiles are a must try here! read more

AH-MAZING!!!! Saira was wonderful. The food was phenomenal. The corned beef had was the perfect ratio of meat to plates and moist, not dry. Buttermilk biscuits were great especially with the gravy. Bring your appetite! This is down home cooking and large servings. And great waitresses. My favorite is their fresh blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast and second is their french toast. This seems to be the spot for all the locals and it's always packed, so you know it's good. read more

Second time here. First time had the French toast combo which was ok. This time I was sad to find out they didn't have waffles, but that's ok because their country eggs Benedict was the bomb!!! They sprinkle sautéed mushrooms on top and it reminded me of the mushrooms my mom makes The hollandaise sauce was really good and make sure to get the home made salsa. We also had biscuits and gravy which were good. The chocolate chip pancakes were good, but felt heavy for me. Best of all, my son picked up the check. Our favorite after-church breakfast spot. On our last visit, I went with the nopalitos omelette, which was chock-full of a tasty nopales/tomato/onion mixture. Our friendly server offered to add beans on the side as well, but I declined and just stuck with my giant omelette full of goodies and crispy, not-too-greasy hash browns on the side. (If my grandmother ever figures out the internet and comes across this, she will laugh herself silly at the thought of me eating nopalitos, considering the five-alarm tantrums I'd throw as a kid when faced with anything remotely cactus-y. It may have been because I watched a drunken relative fall rear-end first on top of one at a particularly lively birthday party, and also bore witness to the guy dropping trou to show us all the cactus stickers in his bum. Not especially convincing to an 8-year-old that such an obviously murderous plant could also be something suitably tasty for breakfast. But wow, do I digress. It was a freakin' good omelette, okay? Stop laughing, Nana.) My kids' standard order is toad-in-the-hole, which is a big piece of French toast with a hole cut in it and an egg cooked in the hole. I do this at home too, but it doesn't evoke the impressed squealing that BG's does. If it means my pickies will eat it, I'm totally okay with this. They're also won over every time by the coloring books that come to the table. You can only do so many IHOP word finds on a paper menu, I guess. Hot tea comes to the table in a cute teapot, and my poor husband had to listen to me chirp about the dang teapot all morning long. I'm sure it was scintillating conversation. B G's is an Oxnard institution. It's got a real "lived-in" look, just like I like in my diners. Downtown Oxnard is a cute area, with a great little town square, lots of meter-less parking, and new construction standing side by side with businesses that have been in Oxnard for decades. B G's is one of the latter. The food is good, solid diner food. They always serve breakfast. When I was there Monday, I ordered the chicken avocado Swiss melt on sourdough, which was fabulous. I asked for a side salad in order to avoid fries, but was immediately sorry I did, because the sweet potato fries are AWESOME. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, and the food was fast. My little sis ordered an omelet, and I promise you this: next time I go to Oxnard, I will have one of those omelets. It was great! p.s. I love all of the historical Oxnardalia on the walls. The wait can be long. I noticed gnats flying around the table. Bathrooms were clean. Lots of servers who are very kind, but they seem inefficient. We had to ask a few different times for water, we were given just two napkins and when asked for more we received just one. The creamer is non dairy so you need to ask for half and half. I would put up with these things because I loved the food. I want to try everything on the menu.. I went for the cinnamon roll and it DID NOT disappoint. It was just as good or better than Cinnabon. They have unique items on the menu. I ordered the roast beef and green chili sandwich on toasted sourdough. The bread was a bit under toasted and too soft with butter. I would have thought it was perfect if the bread was crunchy. I had fruit on the side. My friend had a medium rare beef patty and eggs. He asked for lightly cooked potatoes and everything was served as per his request. There is someone who constantly serves coffee so you are never with too cold a cup or empty. I ordered my current favorite Corned Beef Hash. It had onion in it, which I've never had seen it that way. (I don't eat onion, but do like the flavor it) They had options for your potatoes, I chose the county potatoes (They looked like scallop potatoes) over the hash browns and potatoes O'brien. Me likey. In town for a wedding, my boyfriend and I stopped in here for breakfast - his favorite meal. Service was quick and very friendly, a welcome change from many of our LA spots where good customer service falls to the wayside. The coffee was delicious, piping hot with low acidity and then the food...OH THE FOOD. I had the homemade chorizo and eggs - did you catch that HOMEMADE! So scrumptious I even saved some for a midday snack. My boyfriend had the nopalito omelette alao divine and country potoates (cubed - they also have sliced) and we shared a warm, buttery, cinnamon bun. It oozed with deliciousness, I didn't think we'd finish it but...it was gone in minutes and I kept scraping the plate hoping for more. Prices on point, hospitality and quality food.
