david at bfold has great unfolding stories and the best service! i highly recommend bfold to all my nyc friends with folding bikes.

The Tern X18 rocks Strava! Many records set on the Hudson River Greenway. Easy to fold. Highly recommended.

I am a serious roadie and it's easy to look me up on Strava. I have a bike collection that ranges from a 1982 Lotus Supreme to the 2015 SWORKS Venge. I know a lot about bikes. Folding bikes are a highly specialized game. They have their own set of manufacturers, components and knowledge about what works and what does not. David and Peter have deep expertise and a passion for the folding bike genre. Last year I purchased a Tern Verge X10 as a very special gift for my business partner. We spent about three hours in the shop trying different bikes (Tern, Brompton). I had a very positive experience. This year it was my turn. My new office building has too many restrictions for entering the building with a full sized road bike. I work on William Street, which is in New York City near Wall Street. I commute from West Harlem - about 10 miles each way over mostly flat terrain with some rolling hills. I was on the fence between the Bike Friday Pocket Rocket and the Tern X18. I spoke to Peter and he considered my use case - in and out of the office - convenience of folding and carrying - he immediately steered me to the Tern - even though the Bike Friday would have been a much larger sale. Peter and David have also been fantastic on recommendations (the Ultremo ZX tires, etc) and aftercare (needed to retrue the front wheel after a couple of rides). As FYI - I am very happy with the Tern X18 - it is a fast, comfortable, high performance folding road bike! You can check out my Strava times or contact me if you would like more information about my experience with this bike. Highly recommended. In summary, they run a fantastic bike shop. I would not consider buying a folding bike anywhere else.

Brompton specialists but a whole slew of others too. These guys known their folding bikes like no other in NYC. They're quick to assess your needs, suggest just the right ad on items, and offer a two moth check up as well as annual maintenance option with benefits no other bike shop can provide. They've tested the lights, bags, and know how to get you the seat for special status symbol value if in need. Prepare to drop $2,000 as I was thrifty and didn't get out of there for less than $2,500. It could have been $4,000 easily in fact BUT there isn't an unhappy customer here and everyone knows they're buying the best option in the United States when it comes to a bike you can use on the train, plane, or subway.

    My Brompton S2L from Bfold!

After years on road bikes and my cyclocross commuter, I came to the conclusion that for my NYC riding a folding bike may be the way to go for me. I went in for a test ride on a Friday and the people at Bfold were super nice and easy going (no pressure and no snooty attitude I've experienced at road bike shops over the years). They were very knowledgeable on folding bikes and patiently answered all my questions. The test ride was great! I came back later that day and after a quick training session on folding & unfolding (including printing out the instructions for me for quick reference) I happily rode home on my new Brompton S2L. Great shop!!! Very recommended.

Dropped by the store few weeks ago , and first of all was very surprised with all the folding bikes they have in their small store! For me it was like walking into a candy store ! Peter was very helpful in explaining the folding bikes which I was interested in , and suggested to me to test ride it next time I am in the city. So today decided to drop by again , David was very helpful today explaining in details. I could not make my decision to buy either a Dahon Vector P8 or a Brompton M6L .... But based on my preferences my needs on riding David recommended that Dahon Vector P8 will be the right bike for me . Very happy with my first folding bike and very satisfied with the service I got ! Brompton is also a great bike so maybe next time ??? Anyway , strongly recommend BFold for anyone looking for a folding bike !

They must hsve gotten ahold of that cheesy 'easy' button staples used in its ads awhile ago. I just bought my Brompton here. Peter is so knowledgeable and helpful. Service is personal and he has many recommendations. Just ask if you have some questions and he'll give you great advice! I suggest searching Bromptons website for all the "options" they have to see if you are interested in upgrading. BFold also has Dahon and other brands of folding bikes, I just like the brompton the best! I think their price may actually be better than the website...but might even out after saving shipping vs. sales tax. They hooked me up with everything I need! Rode out the door with a brand new black brompton and a Brooks saddle! Wave at me if you see me!!

    A small shop but AWESOME!!!

I walked into Enoch's shop last week, and he quoted me $15 and 10 minutes, and I said sure. As the service continued, I became progressively more apprehensive, but was too polite to tell him "Sorry, I don't trust you anymore. Can we stop?" 1. He clamped my titanium bike on the seattube. One should always clamp on the seatpost, so if any crush damage occurs, it would be easily replaceable. Luckily there was no damage here, but he would have crushed a carbon fiber frame. 2. Unluckily for me, I have carbon fiber wheels. He used a steel vise grip to pull the tire off the rim... I've never had to use anything other than plastic tire levers to get my tire off. This caused dent damage on my flawless carbon rim, as you can see in the attached photo (I did not know this damage occurred until after I already left the shop). I do not know if the damage is just cosmetic or structural, and I will need to contact the manufacturer. 3. When he reattached the wheel to the bicycle, he rested the chain not on the cog, but past the cog on the rear axle, then stretched my rear triangle to handle the extra width, then tightened it down (this I also did not realize until after I had left). This is basic, and so obvious. If he had simply turned the pedal at all, he would see that it's not driving the wheel... When I discovered this, I ran home to get my multitool to relieve the tension on my frame and set it properly. Luckily this does not seem to be permanent damage, as the back wheel still seems aligned properly. If I had a carbon frame, he would have snapped it. At the end he said "I'll need to charge you more, $20, because this took a long time and was very hard". So I came in for a tire tube repair, and left with potentially hundreds of dollars in damage (still awaiting manufacturer reply if the rim is unsafe to ride or not). I made a mistake of bringing something nice here, don't make the same mistake yourself.

I've been in car accidents, road in pouring rain, water, and mud. I've clean my bike on several occasions. But something told me that I should have an overhaul performed on my bike since I had put it through so much. Yup it took me 9 years to decide to do it. SMH. Since I live close to Conrad's and have taken other bikes that I've had to John at Conrad's, I figured why not just do the whole shebang. So John informed me that there was a crack in my carbon fiber fork. Which I was not expecting or wanting to hear. We all know that once carbon fiber is cracked, it's pretty much done. My heart broke hearing this bad news. He did give me options though. He said he would be willing to contact BMC to see if they had another fork to replace mine. But because my carbon fiber bike is 9 years old, they discontinued that particular model. Damn. Then he tried researching others bike dealers to find a fork comparable. Nada. He then told me he knew a guy that could rebuild my fork. And I agreed to have this guy build my fork. It took several weeks due to the work load because it's summer and everyone is riding. I just had to wait my turn. When I got my beautiful bike back, she was gliding everywhere I road her. It was as if I had bought a brand new BMC. And the appearance of my well cleaned and detailed bike was outstanding. I was so impressed with the quality and detailed service John and the guy who repaired my fork had done. I've never been so pleased by anyone inspecting and cleaning my bike ever. Now, I wasn't anticipating the cost of everything, but it was worth the wait and cost because I truly have a "new" bike.
