I was very lucky to see that after following Body Balance on Instagram they offered 3 free classes…read morefor those who are local residents that had never been to the studio before and I fit both the criteria and figured why not try it. For me the main gym I go to is under renovation at the moment but I still wanted to keep myself somewhat active while trying something new and I'm definitely glad that I took that chance. For the 3 classes I took I decided on trying the Level 1 Reformer Pilates with Chantel, BodyStretch and then BodyCore (Lagree) with Natasha for my last 2 classes. For my first class with Chantel I was so happy she took time to ask whose first time it was taking the class so she could go over the different parts of the Reformer and how to change the springs during the class because it was my first time even seeing how the equipment worked so I had no idea what I was doing before the class started. Plus I loved that she wasn't afraid to correct my form because I got a little scared the night before after seeing a video on Instagram (completely different studio in a different state) where the instructor for a mat pilates class didn't correct a student on their movement so she was unintentionally doing something completely different than the rest of the class. I would say the same for the 2 classes of Natasha's that I took and I even fell asleep a bit during her BodyStretch class since the last section of the class is a sound bath. Although that BodyCore class made me knock out later on in the day because I really pushed myself to try and my legs were shaking like crazy so we'll see how my body is tomorrow. I can see why so many of the people in my classes continue to come here as well as the relationship that I can tell they have with the instructors. With both instructors it felt like they genuinely cared about their students getting the full benefits of the workout they were doing and also so encouraging to really push yourself to try. I'd definitely consider coming here and taking more classes with them when I can! If you're thinking about coming here for the first time I'd absolutely say to try it and don't be scared when you come in and let the staff know its your first time that way they can explain how the lockers work and everyone I've interacted with from the instructors to the front desk have been so helpful and nice!

Every instructor here has a special unique quality to them…read more Here's what I've observed so far: One instructor is like a drill sergeant and tells you exactly what to do and operates class like a well oiled machine. Another says some out of pocket shit and makes me laugh. Another is a natural comedian and very engaging. I never thought an instructor would do crowd work but I was in the front. That's what I get. The people in class are so supportive and fun. They change it from a workout class to a group activity. It's hard to pick which days I want to go, but I enjoy my time here.

But this was the perfect way to ease back into working out. I am used to more strenuous workouts like F45 and HIIT workouts, but I really liked how pilates works out your core muscles of your body. It's slow and steady but you can feel the burn. No wonder all the celebrities do Pilates! I took the Foundational class with Alexandria and she made me feel very comfortable and welcomed at the studio. The studio is neat and clean. It is small but I love the intimate size class. Alexandria also assisted me every time I needed help which was nice. I didn't feel like a deer in the headlights lol. You need pilates socks which they sell there but are kind of pricey. I ended up buying a pair there even though I had a pair I bought from Target. The class was a good workout but wasn't like too difficult like Barre. The next day I could definitely feel it in my body that I worked out lol. The studio is on the second floor next to Cafe Morey's. There's a small parking lot you can park in. The own downfall is the pricing which is the average price for most pilates class. I'd love to become a member but realistically won't be able to afford the monthly membership. Drop ins are $40 a class which is pretty pricey but will likely do it again. Recommend checking out Pilates O Ka La!

Now in my 50s, lifting heavier weights and building muscle has become even more important as I look to the decades ahead. My legs and arms are getting stronger. What a feeling! The studio has moved to 320 Ward, and I love this new location. The large window brings in natural light. Parking is convenient. Sometimes around noon the lots get full, so I park in Ward Village. It's a surprising short walk over. Melissa, the owner, is a good person, super smart and teaches with grace and empathy. I love how she formulates each class, targeting exercises for each part of the body in a cohesive way. Sweat + Soul is a true gem. Easily one of the best health decisions you can make for yourself.

The studio itself is lovely and thoughtfully arranged. Small classes (maximum six people) mean personalized attention, and Diane's preparation and expertise shine through -- she has clearly dedicated her life to Pilates. Her cues and hands-on adjustments are precise and encouraging, making each session fun, challenging, and rewarding. You can totally feel what Pilates can do for you in just one session and I now see why people go back. You learn things you didn't know how to do and use muscles you didn't know you had (or at least I didn't). I wasn't quite able to keep up with everyone else but that didn't matter at all. The owner Kareen, who runs the place, is also awesome at working with your schedule and had multiple classes and times to choose from. I highly recommend this place!
