I have sensitive eyes, skin, etc., and the UV process made a big difference in my eye irritation/watering. BIG plus. The longer-lasting benefit of UV is also SO true. Even after three weeks, I have PLENTY of lashes left. I was used to having to fill every 10-14 days, with 14 being a fairly naked eye situation. Now, let's talk all things Michelle!!!! First, she is some kind of pad-placing ninja. She applied the under-eye things so gracefully that I felt no discomfort during placement or the procedure! I've been to at least three other artists, and the pads always bother me. She's also the fastest lash-applier in the history of time. She said she can place 30 lashes in something like 15 minutes (Michelle, correct me if I'm wrong). I'm used to sitting in a chair for at least an hour. We all have busy lives, so Michelle's speed is a major yes. Michelle is also just a fun person. She asked me what kind of music I liked and explained the UV process and various lash types before we started. Her room is comfy, with soothing lighting and interesting decor. When I arrived at the salon, I was greeted by Paloma Campos, the eyelash expert. Paloma is a…read morenaturally gorgeous esthetician who explained to me a little of what she would be doing, the process itself and described it as a nice little 2 hour sleep session. It was 10:00am on a Saturday morning, I could definitely handle that. I almost felt like I was about undergo surgery as I lay down on the bed and Paloma brought a lamp over my face. Eyelash extensions, unlike the fake strip eyelashes you get from the drugstore, are more natural looking because the esthetician glues each individual lash to your natural eyelashes. The whole process took about 2 hours but it was almost kind of meditative to be lying on the table, chatting with her about life and everything else, and not worrying about anything in the real world. When Paloma was done, I looked in the mirror and was shocked. It was subtle, but there it was - long, thick, luscious lashes peeking out of my eyelids. They did indeed look GORGEOUS and I was IN LOVE! Now, eyelash extensions can be seriously addicting - once you get them, you can't just go back to your stubby looking, God-given eyelashes because they just don't compare to eyelashes like woah! Am I right? Eyelash-wise, I went from Tilda Swinton to Mila Kunis. No joke. It was that serious. Now, I can freely admit, I have the addiction. I cannot begin to tell you how AFFIRMING these brows are for a trans elder as myself who has struggled with dysphoria a lot. I struggled with how feminine my brows were for so long, and now they are even better than what I thought i could never have! The way Mashari treated my complicated gender-affirming request was gracious, kind, and honestly above and beyond the courtesy you expect as a customer anywhere. It's a big price commitment which is why it took me so long but I finally did it and I cannot be happier. I was a little nervous I would have push back on what I wanted because I wanted a very bold brow for my natural hair color and was so pleasantly surprised with how understanding and supportive of my vision Mashari was. I showed her a few photos of how I fill in my brows and she marked out the exact perfect shape on the first try. I immediately knew I was in fantastic hands. She was great and paying attention to how my face and body were reacting to the process (eyes watering, twitching, etc) so much so I didn't even notice before she did. I was shocked at how little pain I felt from the process. When I finally got to see my new brows I immediately started to cry. This is something I've wanted for a long time and she managed to make my brows so perfect. She was so kind and sweet about my emotional reaction. I really cannot overstate how comfortable she made me feel and how confident these brows make me feel. The studio is STUNNING. I am obsessed with it. Such a comfortable space. She made sure that the tattoo table was as comfortable as possible even having a knee pillow which was so nice I'm thinking of getting one for myself! She even grabbed my sweater for me to make sure I wouldn't get cold. The aftercare instructions and little goodie bag is so helpful. I really love that she gives the exact balm and soap to use. I have a few tattoos and always worry about if I'm using the correct soap and moisturizer during the healing. And with this being on my face I want it to heal as well as possible so I love that she gave me exactly what I needed. Overall this whole experience felt so luxurious to me. From the studio, to the pillows on the table, to the aftercare goodie bag, even to the bathroom! I am blown away with Mashari's talent with tattooing and ability to interpret what her clients are saying and making it happen.
