I stopped by Bev's Bagels with my parents last week for our last breakfast over our visit to Detroit. We loved it. Bev's Bagels is open seven days a week and serves sourdough bagels and creative schmears and bagel sandwiches. It's a beautiful diner cafe, with lots of seating and tons of retro charm. My mom is vegan and got a plain bagel with their vegan roasted garlic and scallion cream cheese. My stepdad got their poppy seed bagel with lox and chive cream cheese. I got their salmons in the stream sandwich: wild smoked sockeye salmon, green goddess cream cheese, tomatoes, capers, fresh herbs. I got it on sesame with their very veggie cream cheese, since they were sadly out of their green goddess cream cheese when I visited. I also picked up one of their beautiful chocolate babka buns to take home to my husband. On top of their food, the service was also really great - friendly, helpful, and fast. If I lived in Detroit, they would soon know my name, face, and order - I'd be that much of a regular. read more

So many bagel, schmear, and add on options. I know this place can get busy- we went Sunday morning around 9am and there was no wait with only one other person in line. If you're in Detroit you have to stop by this place!! Fun fact: you can get a bag of day old bagels for only $7!! It's a tiny shop, but there is indoor and outdoor seating; the outdoor seating will be beautiful in warmer months with tree cover and fire pits. The staff was friendly and helpful when we asked for their opinion on different bagel flavors for each sandwich. My mom, sister, and I split two bagels and we loved both of them, but the flavor of the Jambon It was so delicious and special that it was our favorite. So I've loved Bev's since the Ann Arbor pop up days. However, I was pretty disappointed with my lunch experience. I ordered the Reuben (Wagyu pastrami, sauerkraut, cooper sharp, spicy mayo) on an everything pumpernickel bagel. The flavors were good - I mean hard to go wrong with cheese, spicy mayo (talk about flavor!!) but the wagyu pastrami was like 2 pieces and SUPER tough. and it was $17?!! Salt in my wound. The bagel itself was great! My friend, who has had Bev's AM sandwiches multiple times, was also pretty "meh" about her Pink Turkey Club bagel sando (Roasted turkey, bacon, tomato, spicy mayo.). +1 for creative naming though. TL;DR - stick to the bagels here or breakfast sandwiches. It's now pretty out of the way for me, but if the Bev's Bagels team would consider making an egg bagel. I'd be here every weekend! Came here to pick up some bagels for me and a friend. There weren't too many people in line or waiting so I was pretty sure this wouldn't take long and it really didn't. I ordered a Baja Bagel on Everything. It was pretty good. I will say, the bagel itself was pretty tough. I dont know if it was just the one i got or that day but i wanted a fluffy bagel and it just didn't hit. The toppings were good. Even better a Lox Sandwich: the fatty salmon, salty and briney capers, and the sharpness of onion atop a bagel is one my favorite sandwich creations (This sandwich lacked onion, but had tomato). Overall, Yummy sando. Zatar is a bagel flavor that seems quite novel here. Have to order next time. Poppyseed bagels are my favorite, but were out. We dropped by Bev's bagels before hitting up the Detroit beer Festival, we ordered four sandwiches and some bagels to go. I really loved all the flavors they had for their bagels and shmears. The two we tried or the chili crisp and the roasted garlic and chive. Both were really delicious. We really enjoyed the Furikaki bagels and the black pepper Parmesan bagels. It's levels here and luckily the staff is nice enough to help you.. They have "beef bacon" anybody that doesn't support pork but supports bacon they love you here because they have beef bacon and turkey options! The ambiance can be a take your food and leave no harsh feelings.. or it's very nice and cozy and old school diner vibes. When you first walk in it's complimentary water and all the goods you need to spice up your coffee. This is a great vibe for breakfast or a pick me up if you're feeling low. Would love to give these guy 5 stars but they unfortunately do not have the staff to keep up with the crowd. It is a fantastic spot that is always in the weeds with no organized way to define the online orders vs the in person people sitting waiting for their order. Small place with counter service that's quick and efficient. Bagels are delicious with some unique flavors like za'tar and spicy kurikake. I had the egg sandwich while everyone else had the Sammie sandwiches. Pink turkey club is not pink but was flavored perfectly with spicy mayo. Overall, I would like to say I enjoyed the inside of the building especially since having the nice ambiance of having a bakery, restaurant, cafe, and an amazing bagel place?! It sounds like a perfect morning to me. I quite enjoyed the bagel but I wish the bread was way softer to bite. I enjoyed the pink turkey club with my friends and we were amazed with the lemonade ( even bought a second one to take home)! We were also super glad with the service, the cashier was super helpful and even complimented my friends name! I would definitely recommend this place for a nice cup of coffee and a light breakfast! Heard good things so I came to check it out. If you get me hooked I'll be the most loyal customer. Wasn't impressed. Got two egg sandwiches with bacon. Each one was 17 dollars! It was descent but not at that cost. I can get two amazing egg sandwiches at New York bagel for 12.98. I know because I do it all the time. Should have known better than to try something new. 2 egg sandwiches and 2 plain bagels to go was over 40 dollars. I will not be returning. Very lively on a Saturday. Staff was very kind and calm even when it was lively in there. We ordered from our phones because the line seemed long, but it honestly moved very fast! We decided to sit and eat at the counter and it was clear they are a well oiled machine. Their stations were super clean and it smells amazing in there. I just got a bagel and a schmear, but it was pretty top tier. I'm definitely a bread enthusiast and the outer texture, fluffiness and freshness were what I've been looking for in a bagel in metro Detroit. Even the cream cheese options... so good. The place looks like a tornado hit a bakery and then someone tried to clean it up with a leaf blower. Chaos. Zero organization. Orders scribbled on napkins, bags of flour exploding in the corner--health code violation speedrun. We order a dozen bagels. "10-15 minutes," Nose Ring grunts. Cool. We step next door for coffee. Come back at 20 minutes--nothing. 30 minutes--still nothing. 40 minutes--watching people who ordered *after* us walk out with steaming bags while we stand there like idiots. Finally, at the **45-minute mark**, I ask what's up. The response? A shrug and: *"Oh yeah, we just started your order. Also, we're out of sesame and poppyseed now."* EXCUSE ME?! There were **piles** of both when we ordered. You mean to tell me you prioritized every single person who walked in after us, burned through your entire stock, and *then* decided to mention it?
