It's rare that I would write up a review for a big box store BUT, the staff here warrants it. I was in a crappy mood having visited my dad with dementia and when I went to pick up booze (yes, probably need to take a break from it and face the harsh reality's of life) the general manager Mark really changed my mood. The guy was seriously beyond helpful and made me laugh which was much needed. He always goes above and beyond and is so helpful with recommending new types of whiskeys. Thanks Mark for the nice break from the harsh realities of life and man, they have the cleanest restrooms! read more

Went into BevMo to buy a few drinks really quick , we found everything okay until we got to the register. The cashier was very rude, when he asked if I had a membership number I gave him my number and he didn't even acknowledge me giving him my number. I then asked him if I needed to type it in myself instead since I didn't see him putting it into the system and he ignored me. I stood there confused when I asked for a bag for my drinks, he then just threw a couple bags on the counter for me to bag my drinks and I even had to reach for the drink because he didn't pass down my items to the end of the counter. Lastly, as we were leaving not a word was said and he moved right on to the next customer. What did we do to deserve such rude service ? read more

Not sure if reviews are often checked but I thought I'd just add that if your associate is checking someone out, STOP THE SIDE CONVERSATION WITH ANOTHER CO WORKER. Do people not have any sense of customer service? I stopped by Saturday 3/16 at around 4ish to be exact. I've just never had go stand around and literally wait for them to be done talking. On July 5, 2022, I had an obnoxiously rude encounter with Petaluma BevMo manager, JT. Reading Yelp reviews about Petaluma BevMo, my negative encounter with JT - the manager, was not an isolated incident. Reviews about this BevMo location consistently reflect a systemic behavior which alienates customer loyalty and creates a hostile consumer environment. Since June 2020, Petaluma BevMo has now received nine Yelp reviews, eight of them are one star, the other - a miserable two stars, and several of them specifically involved an employee described as rude who has colorful or purple hair, coincidentally, JT has colorful purple hair. As a convenience while my wife was out shopping, I set up an on-line BevMo account to make a purchase and noted on the form that my wife would pick-up the order. Minutes after placing the order I received a telephone call from JT who was awkwardly rushed and curt stating my wife could not pick up the order unless she had a credit card with same number used for the order. When I told her we both have the same card number, JT argued and warned me in a doubtful and dismissive tone that if the numbers weren't the same, she wouldn't allow the pick-up. Despite her annoyed attitude, I asked if a 5% earned discount would be applied to the order since it was not reflected on my email receipt to which she said, it had been applied and rushed to hang up. Sensing JT was going to be a problem for my wife and seeing the discount was in fact not applied to my receipt, I went to BevMo myself - so much for the convenience factor. I met a young lady at the register and explained I was there to pick-up an order and asked about the discount. After she talked with JT who was in a nearby cubical, she returned and related that JT told her the discount was deducted from the purchase. Not that the discount was a big deal, but as a point of clarity, as I was explaining to the cashier that the information she was given was incorrect, JT came forward to defend her erroneous input and told me the discount code was noted on the receipt. After I explained the code noted on the receipt was typed by me online as a reminder, and she realized she had made a mistake, JT became hyper talkative while trying to justify her mistake and out of the blue deflected her unprofessional conduct by saying; "you don't have to be rude." Given her obnoxious attitude, I walked away and told her I would make mention of her behavior on Yelp. As I returned to the register, JT dismissed the cashier to conclude my purchase herself. While she displayed an air of huffy irritation, I told her that simply explaining an error does not make me rude, nor does her repeating erroneous information make it true. To that, she said "you were rude because you said you were posting on YELP", although my Yelp comment was after she called me rude. When I said I would post that comment too, JT snidely said; "go ahead, it won't matter." As a manager, one would presume JT is tasked to lead by example, to motivate and inspire her employees rather than demonstrate intolerant and obstinate behavior. I suspect that JT's invincible attitude with remarks such as "go ahead, it won't matter" does matter... to BevMo. Needless to say, this location lost another customer. Delivery wasn't only not delivered on time but not picked up on time. Instead of owning the responsibility, it was blamed on shipped and we were told they might not have drivers. If this is the case, Bev Mo should not offer or use this service. Worst customer service ever at a bev mo. Offer alternatives or compensation if you can't offer agreed upon services. Even San Francisco was more responsible. Update: Delivery is now close to two hours late, four hours since order" "because an item was forgotten." BevMo is known for its low prices. I would like to give a shout out for its service. Yesterday at the Petaluma BevMo, I was helped by Monicka. She was cheerful, patient, and knowledgeable. She not only checked the store's website but she also checked the actual store's inventory. As a result, I not only purchased what I wanted, I know when the inventory will be restocked. I'd give them 5 if it wasn't for the cashier and the bathroom. The woman who helped me pick a few bottles on the floor was amazing, but the person at the register with the cosplay mask was rude to every single person they came in contact with. She yelled at a person to get back when they could have said it nicely the person was taken a back. Like I get social distance but you can be nice about it. She was also rude when I didn't understand what she had told me. For someone who seems like they want to be "woke" she does not seem to be very tolerant. read more

First and foremost, I want to explain that I am a native of Petaluma, live on the West Side, and value our hometown locally owned businesses. I'm glad to see that this store is managed by a well known local and it appears that he values hiring local employees too. Nothing turns me off more than when a chain comes into a town and then hires people from outside the area, so nice job keeping it local. Even though I will always shop at the local liquor stores first ...I do love having this BevMo! in my backyard, instead of having to drive to Novato when I need something that I can't get locally. So, what sets this store apart from the other BevMo!s? Only a few minor things...and that is good, and is exactly the point. If you like shopping at BevMo! this one will not disappoint. First, it is layed out pretty much like normal, and has all the great selection and sale prices as you normally find at a BevMo!. What's different is that they have a big wine tasting area in the center of the back wall, where many of our local wines are highlighted. They have a great selection of Ports (my drink of choice), including things that I can't buy at other stores. They also have all the fun gift type stuff up front, including Lagunitas glass, which are a must for any home bar. The staff is friendly, although obviously it will take a little while for them to get their bearings, so give them some slack. Although I missed it on my initial visit, Michael B (another Yelp Elite member) told me that they do in fact have some of the local Petaluma wines, such as Azari Vineyards and Keller Estates...both excellent locally grown and produced wines. I guess I was overwhelmed by all the great selection my first time through but since that time have been back and saw all of the "local" tabs highlighting our local wines. I hope that BevMo! seriously consider is getting involved in the community. One of the things that makes Petaluma such a great place to live is that local shop owners are heavily involved in the community. If BevMo! wants to earn our respect, and our business, they should strive to get involved. Until they do, my first stops before going to BevMo! will always be Vine & Barrel (downtown) and Willibees (Lakeville and D Street.) who both sponsor local events and donate to local charities. Overall, I'm happy BevMo! is here in town and feel they have exceeded expectations by putting together a great shop, with local products, staffed by locals, and will hopefully be involved in local events. read more

(visible from freeway) lots of chain stores opening in this new commercial strip. doesn't matter to me what the store looks like, i've got my m.o. go for the items on "special", don't pay regular price. brew: "Port Brewing-Wipe Out" (4.79, save 1.5 w/card) -5 different hops, 7.5% alc. strong brew, bitter of course with all the hops. 4+ stars. take outs: -associates always cordial at BevMo! read more

I feel like a kid on Christmas when I come to BevMo, yes that sounds horrible, but hey it's fun for me to see all the different varieties of alcohol! I always enjoy stopping by when I'm in the area to hit up Sprouts farmers market next door and catch my Club BevMo deals, which are usually pretty stellar compared to major union run grocery stores. They have some pretty wild and whacky stuff here, so I'd suggest taking your time and scour the entire store. I will also say the employees always seem cheerful and are extremely helpful when it comes to finding items and even suggesting their favorites. read more

I don't live in Petaluma but on Friday 4/15 I found myself going to the BevMo in Petaluma. I will start by first admitting my wrong and as I walked into the store I was trying to maneuver my mask on and I should've had it completely on before stepping into the store. That being said five steps Through the door I hear someone from across the floor yell to me "ma'am could you put your mask on!" Clearly it was on I was just trying to get the ear loops situated, that made me feel badly immediately. Later that same clerk walked past me in one of the Isles and I said oh excuse me, "I'm truly sorry for not having my mask all the way on when I came into the store and his rude response was "well it happens all the time"OK that's strike two for that clerk. The next encounter was with a female working at the store who was chatting with a customer at the register. They were going on amd on sharing drink recipes. I had two very large bottles in my arms and another small bottle. They were getting quite heavy so I just wanted to put them down while they finished their conversation and I took one step towards the register counter-mind you I was still 41/2 feet away And wearing a mask and not talking to anyone.. I just wanted to slide the bottles onto the counter. Once again being snapped at by the clerk. "you need to stay 6 feet away" once again feeling reprimanded. Here it is more than a year into the pandemic and I have managed to remain Covid free and it's because I'm responsible and conscientious of others around me. Once again getting to the register I apologized for not maintaining distance. The response from the clerk was " silent" she said nothing in response. You're in customer service for fucks sake try to be a little kinder to people. These are challenging times and we need to support each other rather than just snapping at each other Even when I was apologizing the 2 Employees couldn't manage to be civil to me. I just though the manager should Be made aware of those two employees. On that day at least they were not an asset for the Petaluma BevMo. Personally as long as I know either of them work in that store I will never go there again. The next day I was sharing my awful experience with One of my clients Who lives in Petaluma. She had her own stories to share with me about the terrible service that she has gotten in that store. It's starting to look like a pattern of behavior. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go into that store I'm just saying based on my experience and a friends experiences don't expect any kind of customer service in The Petaluma BevMo store. read more

The only way I can think of to get businesses to make sure that their customers are wearing a mask (and properly) is to identify those businesses who do not enforce the rules. Frankly, it should be the up to Everyone to protect one another because we care about each other but, some people just don't care about anyone except themselves. So, those businesses that have been allowed to open need to protect their employees and customers. I have purchased wine and spirits here for years. Store is clean but usually empty, and workers are nice. Yesterday I bought 3 different bourbons. On the way home I stopped at Wilibees to check their prices. They were far below BevMo. Michter at Bevmo was $64, but $42 at Wilibees. So BevMo is ripping off people with their prices. Yesterday, my boyfriend and I walked into BevMo searching the whiskey isle for a new drink to try. As we were discussing what might be good, an employee offered his assistance. He introduced himself as Joe, and offered some great advice on some whiskeys. He was incredibly knowledgeable, stayed in our price range, and very funny! Your curbside pick up system was broken on the day I tried it. I ordered online, but there was no mention the system was down. I went to the store and waited in the lot for 10 minutes. When nothing happened I went into the store to ask they told me Their system wasn't working. Putting a sign in the parking lot might keep people from wasting time. They didn't seem to care much about it though. When I asked for a refund they seem surprised. Remember kids: boomers vote with their wallets when they get crappy service. read more

Always well stocked, clean, with a helpful staff. Great stock. Lots of extras, like glassware, bar ware, cigars, and snacks. Ooh...I love the huge selection of mini bottles. I like to get minis and try out stuff. One day I want to fill a pinata with them and have a grown up party!! Most people focus on the nationally advertised sales, but I find that they are a pretty good value daily. read more

Came here the other day to buy some Gin. It was a specific brand (a very well known national brand) I asked about it - the guy insisted to me that this brand only makes vodka! (um.. no. I am 100% sure they make Gin, infact I had a bottle and was wanting another...) and then he basically inferred that I didn't know the difference between the two spirits! I walked out. Ian is the best to work with, ever. We made an appointment, and he was so accommodating. He even shooed away other people trying to get attention during our assigned time. He gave phenomenal recommendations, and even suggested buying some options cheaper at Costco. Who does that? I even found a coupon after I paid, which he honored in retrospect. It's pretty bad that we have to check your website to see if you have it in stock but when we get there there's nothing on your shelves. I have been looking all over for a bottle of 15 year aged Linkwood for my brother for Christmas with no luck. I finally stopped into Petaluma Bevmo yesterday at the height of holiday shopping time. Your employee, Alex, was extremely helpful and friendly and helped me find a few other gifts as well, even though it was a very busy day. He was nice and funny and genuinely interested in finding me what I needed. Customer service is a lost art nowadays and I just thought you all should know what a gem you have there. Helpful, wonderful sales people! They're willing to help you find whatever you want. They almost always have it. Their prices are great!! Hard liquor especially.
