They also carry a good selection of wines, and hard alcohol as well. I am now a LOVER of Lagunitas India Pale Ale I had the Stone IPA and I much rather drink the Lagunitas IPA it has a much milder taste but then you get the hopp-e-ness the more you drink it. Adding this one to my favorite beer list. read more

I came here when a brewery was having a tasting. I got to try about 6 different beers and ate free cheese and sausage. I even got a free beer bottle opener and cup. All for a buck. That's pretty awesome in my opinion. There was also sign outside the door saying they were having a wine tasting a few days later. I guess this location has these small events more frequently than I thought. Amazing selection at amazing prices. Jackie is a fabulous employee that really goes that extra mile for the customers. She spent a bit of time on the phone, but she got my product shipped from another store and into her location in just a couple days. Most other places would have told me to drive there. I really appreciate this BevMo's employees' enthusiasm and eagerness to help me, the customer. I've gotten a lot of recipe ideas and weird drinking tips from people here (whipped cream vodka in OJ). My friendly neighborhood bevmo. I used to go to the bevmo in carmel and the one in la mesa has definitely a friendlier feel. Don't ask me why, but the vibe is just different. Employees are nice and will ask if you need help everytime they walk by you. Awesome. Easy to rack up a nice bill if you arent careful, and by that I mean that the selection is great, and you want to take more than a couple bottles with each visit. Call ahead or even better buy from the website and in an hour they will have your order ready for pick up. What is there not to like. read more

Selection is great as expected, but the customer service left much to be desired at this location. 2 people working 1 stuck to the register and the other seemed to overwhelmed to do his job well. I was trying to purchase $150.00 bottle of cognac as a gift, but left empty handed as I just couldnt wait any longer to have them open the glass case. This place has terrible customer service. I went to the store to get some beers, and also picked up a pack of cheese, which I put on the checkout counter first. The cashier was obviously spacing-out because when I got home I realized that the cheese is not in my bags, and doesn't even show on the receipt. I called the store to complain, and instead of apologizing or offering a compensation, the lady over the phone started arguing with me and told me it was my fault!! According to her, I hid the cheese! Needless to say that after this poor experience I'm never stepping foot in this store again. read more

Manager is rude. I've been to this location three times and all times the place was empty. I heard him saying that the reason all the pumpkin items are gone is because of all the white girls to a group of men. He was very nice and attentive to them while talking shit on women. So nice- it's not like you have female customers in line waiting after them as you say this. He may have been trying to be funny, but the other 3 people in line and I did not. He then got to me and was condescending. Asked if I needed cherries super awkwardly with my purchase...uh wtf?! And I said uhm what? He said he was trying to upsell me on a purchase he rudely guessed would go with my purchase? Yeahhh, not coming here again ha. BevMo has always come through for me when I've needed a random liqueur for a recipe. They have a huge selection. I've accidentally stopped in on a few of the free tasting events they have held and those were fun. BevMo Customer Service (at the store and on line) sucks! Basically, I ordered about $1000 with of stuff for a party, couldn't order it on line because my rewards did not appear. So I went in on 7/7/13 to fill the order. I was ASSURED by the manager I received credit for the purchase. I have since supplemented that order with another one for $359.00...still no rewards received. No Email. Nothing in the mail. Called the store, another manager tells me to call customer service on-line as they don't 'take care of the rewards' I ALREADY sent a request to customer service 3 days ago. No response, no call back. I've called about 12 times....all you get is their recording. My order is to be picked up today. I called the La Mesa store manager Eric yesterday, he refers me back to the customer service line. DONT OFFER A REWARDS PROGRAM then tell the customer 'you can't help them'. I am to call the customer service line and maybe they can email me a coupon. Yea, sure.... as soon as they pick up the phone! Very irritating! read more

Better have your ID with you! I love the selection and prices but their ID policy is ridiculous. My girlfriend was politely asked for her ID before our purchase. How thoughtful that this 20 something young man would think that she was under 21. Really?, at 48 she is old enough to be his mother! She told the cashier that her drivers license was stolen and that she did not have it. He paused as if we wouldn't be able to purchase our liquor. Ok, so she handed the cash to me. I'm 50 and I had my ID, and the cashier says "oh no, we can't do that, I saw the money being exchanged " Now, I'm really irritated. So the cashier calls over his manager who looks like he just reached puberty yesterday and begins to explain their wonderful ID policy and very patronizingly tells us that he will let it go this time and we can complete our purchase.
