Long overdue review! BevMo in Mission Valley is decent. It has the basics covered, but it doesn't really stand out to me. Plenty of parking and the store is spacious and has a wide selection of wine, beer, mixers, and spirits, which is great if you know what to search for. Sometimes, you'll get a helpful employee who points you in the right direction, but other times it feels like staff avoid eye contact or are understaffed to really help. Thus, I'll be on my merry way on a solo treasure hunt hoping the right bottle calls my name. The check-out line can also be a bit slow and drag during busy hours. Overall, it's a convenient one-stop shop but doesn't have the "wow" factor that would be a go-to spot nor is it that exciting, because you know your girl loves to grocery shop and browse aisles for dayssss. Vibe is more like an "errands run" rather than a "fun alchy adventure." Some pros: It's in a plaza therefore you can spend time eating or more browsing. I almost got shot at the Mission Valley BevMo the evening before Thanksgiving, around 6:00 PM. A tense and dangerous situation unfolded when an employee confronted a gang member attempting to steal alcohol. The individual entered the store with a hard-shell suitcase and a duffel bag, seemingly intending to shoplift large quantities of liquor. A young shift supervisor confronted the individual and insisted he leave. However, the interaction escalated as the employee followed the thief toward the exit, engaging in a heated exchange. At the exit, the gang member threatened the shift supervisor, who looks like he is 23 years old, starts arguing with the gang member. This interaction endangered everyone in the store, including staff and customers like myself. I had to yell close and lock the F***ing door! I am not trying to get shot! The cashier repeatedly called for managerial assistance. Despite numerous calls, the managers did not come out of the back office until they heard me yelling. The shift supervisor endangered everyone's lives by trying to fight the guy. Just let the guy leave! He should have had another manager assist him with the escorting the guy out of the store. There were about 10 people in the store and we were all left frightened and vulnerable. After the thief left the store, I was too scared to go to my car, fearing he might return with a weapon. I later contacted the store and spoke with a manager, who dismissed the incident as a rare occurrence and was more concerned with the punk kid shift supervisor's feelings. This kid endangered everyone's life by trying to show how much of a man he was by trying to fight a gang member to prove his manhood. I don't' know why men always stick up for each other when one of them does something STUPID! If I had not yelled and told him what to do... things could have ended badly for him and everyone in the store. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Subsequent calls to corporate yielded little resolution, and I felt my concerns were not taken seriously. This incident has left me shaken, and I urge potential customers to prioritize their safety and reconsider visiting this location. The managers at this store lacked any urgency in addressing this life-threatening situation. In fact, they covered it. They did not tell corporate or their district manager what had happened. The district manager didn't know anything about this until I reached out to them. I know this can not be corporate policy! This whole ordeal gave me PTSD. I am never going back to that store! I recommend exploring other options like Total Wine or Ralph's. They have security and more people on the floor. read more

His family requested that we bring some wine, preferably Moscato, for their Christmas Eve party. BevMo had the brand we needed. When we got there, we couldn't find the one he was looking for, so we asked for some assistance. The associate couldn't find it either, so we ended up getting a couple of different ones instead. The next day, after carefully reading the label and realizing it was not sweet enough, came back to exchange it for the right kind. Customer service was great and since I'm a member of their club, I saved a lot of money on the wines. I couldn't wait to taste the wine with our dinner that night. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, so if you love Moscato, Poggio is a good one to get. Of course they have a variety of beverages and other things if you're not into sweet wines. Came here to grab a few items to make my own drinks. I came specifically to grab some torani syrup which by the way, they were in stock with a variety of flavors! I ended up getting the strawberry one. I also picked up a bottle of sparkling water. I didn't really explore the store much, was just in n out but on the way out, I saw that they carried the spicy mango cart beer from golden road brewing so I'm excited for my next trip back here. read more

Holiday Shopping made easy indeed. I stopped in for purchase several bottle of red wine and a couple of boxed gift of the hard stuff, and they not only had everything I needed, but the wine I purchased was part of their 5 cents sale. The shelves were all heavily stocked and well organized. It was easy to find the red wine section, specifically the Cabernet and Malbec aisle because they were clearly marked and they offered a very supply of both types. I picked up two bottles of both and a very clever box set of three bottles of Irish whiskey. As in many places now a days, they offer beer kits for the enthusiast which would make great gift ideas. This Bevmo occupies the space that was once a Blockbuster Video many moons ago. It's a cool store where you will find alcohol for your liquor fix. This place has a ginormous selection and everything seems pretty well organized. It's clean and a lot more spacious compared to the other Bevmo located down the road (next to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf). Things seem more cramped at that location. At this store, you'll find a huge variety of wine, hard liquor, local craft beers, snack items, and more. We got all the drinks we needed for Cinco de Mayo. The employees here are friendly and helpful. We were greeted upon entry and told if we had questions or needed help to let them know. There's plenty of parking in this shopping center. At the other location, parking can be scarce depending on when you visit. I'd definitely return to this location. read more

I gave her the guest count, drink preferences and she gave me a nice breakdown of how much I should order. This spot just opened up in Mission Valley North. There's another BevMo! about a mile away, but the traffic in that area by the mall is usually a cluster. The space is smaller, so shelf space and product placement is a premium. The displays and sight lines seem well done. I like that they didn't try to overcrowd the room. I actually did have a question for one of the store associates about sangria. They carry only one brand, when he didn't endorse, but said that another brand he preferred was at the other store. He also recommended some other bottles to use in a proper, traditional receipe. Kudos for not pushing some brand for no good reason. read more

Wow! All I can say is this was awful! There was a sign "please use other door" so we entered through an open door and immediately were screamed at by a man "get out! Get out!". I literally thought there was a crime scene and we were in danger. Another woman walks up and says "why do you think the door is shut?!" To which we pointed out the door was wide open. After they lectured us about walking through an open door they finally explain their door should have been shut and they were available for online orders only. I pulled up yesterday looking for a list of wines for my podcast that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. The staff was so so helpful, and for two people, they did such a great job holding the entire fort down. I don't think it's necessary for me to stress how extensive the alcohol options are here and the really good deals they have on everything. I had a mishap with charges at the register, and Denise respected the tag and fixed the pricing. Overall have become a huge fan of this particular BevMo for their customer service. read more

I bought my first beer here when I turned 21, and I wasn't disappointed. Anyways, I often come here to try a different beer, whisky or wine, and although they do rotate their seasonal offerings, I can't help but feel disappointed every time I come here and see a very lackluster selection of German lagers, clearly dominated by German hefe-weizens: only a tiny few in there I actually like a whole lot. I typically buy beer by the pint, and half their German beer selection, especially for lagers, are in six-packs, which is great for a party, or if you really love it, but for individual consumption or trying a new beer, it just isn't cost-effective. I'm also surprised that their Riesling selection is rather minuscule, too: while it is a young white wine, I often have a knack for a proper Riesling. However, I'm not complaining about their decent selection of Scotch whisky, though I question what they're doing with a giant bottle of 12-year-old Scotch, lying on its side as if it were a wine, when it's whisky, and the cork is only going to taint the liquor further. *shrug* Weird oddities. Not sure what I could really ask for a store, but I've had plenty of great choices shopping here at BevMo!. read more

She didn't have any even offer for a bag for them or nothing just real grumpy. We had to ask to wrap the wines. We deserve decent customer service. I either go to this Bevmo or the one in Point Loma. A store that is dedicated to all types of alcohol. Yes, its a bit pricey, but you are paying for variety and ease. It is a grocery story, for domestic and foreign alcohol. Every once in awhile, I like to go to Bevmo, check out their foreign beer section, and depending on how much I am willing to spend, I will pick up some beer I have never had before and something I know I am going to like, then go to a local taco shop to get food. I give this business a lot of credit, they have good customer service, stock a wide variety of spirits, wine and beer. I have never done the in store wine tasting, but points for creativity. I think they deserve more then 5 stars for being open during the Corona virus. I've been to physically larger Bevmo's else where but this is still a solid store. Seems like all the essentials are here. You can do an inventory search first online for alcoholic beverages they may carry which can save you the time. Do like BevMo but I always leave without much. I like that it's clean and organized, but I do feel like stuff is too expensive here. I came to buy Christmas gifts and an item for the company white elephant exchange. After 'shopping' for 1/2 hour or more I left with 1 bottle of wine for mum. #8 of 100 Yelp Reviews 2016 BevMo is an alcohol retailer chain that I had not got a chance to visit despite their many locations nationwide, until now. I was searching for Alaskan Amber Ale here, and unfortunately they did not have it. However, they are well stocked and appropriately priced with many local brews in San Diego. Wine selections are impressive, and they even sell food/drink pairings for your booze of choice. For the sake of convenience as a one stop shop this is a great idea. The cordials and other assorted hard liquors are plentiful as well. Interesting note that they locked up Grey Goose, Crown Royal and other popular and "expensive" selections so you have to ask a sales associate for assistance. Staff members are pleasant and quick to help you select the poison of your choice. Since no Amber was not present here, I resorted to a Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey called Buffalo Trace at less than 30 bucks a bottle. Not a bad price either and a great segway from Crown Royal, a Canadian Whiskey very popular in bars and clubs. Place was stocked neatly and spacious. It reminded me of the liquor store I used to work in Alaska. Being the gatekeeper of the alcohol had its good times and bad times. Make sure you sign up for the BevMo Card so you can start earning rewards. I don't shop much alcohol, so it would probably take me a while to earn the 5% back. Corey, an attendant responded to the buzzer at the champagne cabinet, after making the first request for the bottle we chose, he was already locking up the case, even though I had another request. He told me he was too busy to grab the second bottle because he needed to help his other coworker out up at the front. This BevMo is new, huge and modern! I really like it. I like the way it is organized. There is a large bar in the back which means they will be hosting lots of wine and beer tastings! There is also a huge refrigerator case with lots of champagne and whites ready to serve. In my major shopping trip last Friday, I picked up a couple of bottles of Moonshine. This is better than the other nearby location because you are less likely to get run over by a shopping cart (aisles are way wider) and the parking is better. My only complaint in the service I received. I got help finding what I needed every time I asked, but I had to keep going back to ask for help because I was buying nearly $400 of very specific types liquor for a party and the person who told me where things were, or showed me just didn't seem to have the time to really be helpful and show me everything I needed. Also, no one offered to help me to my car, or help me lift the heavy boxes, despite the fact that I I had to take two trips to my car. All in all, I like this place, but next time I will be clear about asking for exactly the service I expect. read more

While I love the selection they have to offer I'm not crazy about the prices or the customer service. In our visit today I found that most of the wine I love can be purchased at Costco for far cheaper! Like $10 cheaper! After a long day I was carded (totally fine!!) by a girl half my age that looked almost ready to ask for my passport, fingerprint, and social security number. I have no problem being carded and totally appreciate it but it's not okay when you give me a hard time because my haircut and color have changed! I was refused a sale because the person that came with me didn't have their ID. I assured the cashier that the person was well over the legal age and the transaction on hand was of my own. Nope, still denied me a sale and told me I was more than welcome to come back later. And now I'm thinking... "What exactly is the difference if I came back later? I would still be giving the cashier the exact same ID I had the first time... And what if I came with a car full of people? Do you want an ID from everyone? What if I had a kid? Want their ID too??" I don't usually dish out one star reviews but this guy took my time and absolutely wasted it. I understand the liability of selling to a minor but my California identification is legal and the refusal of sale was a silly-silly call. I typically shop here for my alcoholic friends. If I'm not buying bottles of hard liquor or wine for them, I usually buy gift cards. It's pretty convenient. I don't usually buy my alcohol here, since it is pretty pricey. The only deals that I try to take advantage of is the buy one and get the second one for 5 cents deal. Otherwise, I'm a buy-my-alcohol-at-Costco kinda girl. Customer service is friendly and helpful, but there aren't many employees working. The biggest rushes are during the holiday season between November and December and those 3-day holiday weekends. Otherwise, it tends to be fairly chill. read more
