I call their phone number and they answered once and put me on hold and said they would call back and never did. I've been continuously calling and no answer, they don't answer their email either. They have a great selection of liquor but the customer service is very unprofessional and IF I ever get my order I will never order from here again. UPDATE: This review is not for the actual store, but their online business. After calling multiple times a day for several days I finally got an answer to my question , and my order was shipped. While not the size of BevMo or Crest, they have a very, very diverse selection of beer, wine and spirits, ranging from premium and hard to find to... other. After reading some negative reviews about online orders I took chance on Chips because they claimed to have the rum I wanted in stock. They delivered faster than I thought possible. The quality of the packaging was excellent. My only suggestion for improvement is to include the bottle boxes. I will be requesting them if I order in the future. read more

Happy Saturday! Cheers Chips! How old am I? I have been coming to Chip's Liquor for like 15 years. Before I was even 21 I remember coming in to buy Vanilla Sweet Dream ciggs. Lol. Well thankfully I have moved on from ciggs to craft beer. Chip's offers a wide variety of craft beer as well as an extensive selection of fine wines & top of the line liquors. You won't find the rarest beers in the world here, but they do carry Almanac, Russian River, Cantillon, and all the local breweries among others. They are a family run business and over the years I have gotten to know them well. I've read some people think they price gauge here. Not the case at all. I mean it is the Beach area, but all stores in the beach area unfortunately have a smidgen higher pricing. If you want to pay dirt cheap prices for low quality items, head down to the hood. Besides obviously carrying adult beverages here, they also have a wide variety of sexytime mags, snacks, Lotto, ICE, and I'm pretty sure they still carry Racing Forms here... perfect timing, since The Del Mar Racing Season just kicked off yesterday. read more

They have horrible customer service - I ordered online and haven't even received an email regarding my order confirmation and this was already two weeks ago. Let me divulge a little info about me: I like beer. So with that being said, I am a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to liquor stores in the Greater San Diego area. I've got my preferred shops throughout the county (sans North County because I hate driving up there. Sue me.) so let's bring it to one of my favorite shops by the beach! If you are in PB, and I know many of you spend time there, stop by Chip's for your beverage fulfillment needs. And to those that have been there before but haven't been there within the last year, go back! Looks wise, it's quality. They've remodeled it and improved the interior immensely. Part of that remodel included a beer cave, more on that soon. Rivani is the man with the vision here and he's also the guru behind the counter that can recommend you a craft beer. He keeps his shelves stocked with the freshest IPAs, newest sours, and when stout season is upon us, you'll find the best heavy ABV hitters in the game. If you are looking for sixers, 12 packs, or 18/24/30 packs you can take a stroll inside the beer cave and freeze your ass off while you are in a stupor from the selection. There's so much goodness in there it's ridiculous. Side note: no good beer comes in an 18/24/30 pack. Unless it's a variety pack, then it's cool. Have some self respect, put down that Coors 30 pack, and grab some Firestone Walker, Ballast Point, Pizza Port, or Modern Times cans. Moving on! I was there recently and Rivani asked if I was local (I'm not) because his shop now DELIVERS. Yes my friends, you don't have to leave your party/uber it to the local liquor store to get booze. His shop delivers and ships. If you use the app "Drizly" you can have your orders delivered to your doorstep. If you use their website www.thecraftgurus.com you can have your beer shipped to you. Chip's has made it impossible not to get your brewskis. With that being said, I need a beer and I know who to order from! This place is a little ghetto but has a great selection of alcohol, smokes and magazines (especially adult magazines and they even carry High Times). I've reach out a couple times and only received one email 4 days ago saying my order was shipping out that day and I never received a shipping email to this say. Chips customer service gets an A+. I ordered some things to be delivered to a friend through Mini Bar and there were some logistical challenges. The first night there wasn't a driver, the second night my friend wasn't available. The third night there was some operational issues so a driver wasn't available again. Instead of make the delivery behind another day they sent a manager to deliver it. Even with all the challenges the Chips team was awesome at keeping me in the loop and working with me. This review is for their online store, not the physical store, which I have not and will not ever step into. Other Yelp reviews indicate it may be worth a visit, but not for me. What these guys are doing is advertising stock they do not actually have on hand to sell. The web store says "orders usually filled within 24hrs." This is flat out misleading. I was in quarantine and my buddy was going to be in the neighborhood, two days after my order was placed, and said he could pick it up for me. After multiple calls and emails, the day my buddy could pick up, I received my only communication from them that my order would now be ready "the following day." Radio silence from that point forward. I asked them to cancel the order. Nothing. I contacted them through PayPal. Nothing. I waited and escalated the PayPal case. Nothing. Two weeks from when I received my "Order Confirmation" I received an email saying my order was ready for pickup. Uh yeah, kind of defeats the entire purpose of ordering from a local store, no? I ordered from an excellent and well-stocked store all the way up in San Francisco, Bitters & Bottles, and my order arrived two days later on my doorstep. Go figure. read more

DON'T GO HERE! There are loads of great liquor stores in sd and at least 3 just in PB/Crown point with big craft beer selections and good service. Went in the other day to buy a rare beer/see if it was in stock...owner of the store told me he was out of the beer. Next day I go to a different, reputable store and see if they have the beer, guy says no but his distributor said "chips liquor" has 2 bottles. So I go back into chips the next day and say hey man I heard you have 2 bottles of this beer? He sighs and rudely says "uhhhh ok I sell you 1." As if the turd was doin me a favor as I handed him $21.99 Next day I send a friend in to grab a bottle for herself because its a great/rare beer. Jerk owner rips off the price tag IN FRONT OF HER and charges her an extra 3 bucks. Guy is a total greedmonger. Love this liquor store! It is not far from the beach so it's the perfect place to stop and grab goodies for your beach day! They have a huuuuuuuuge selection of alcohol and snacks!
