I was looking for a specific tequila which I checked online and saw they carried it. I wish I got his name but the older gentleman who helped me when I 1st walked in was so so nice. Shared some stories. I heard him speaking to another gentleman who sounded like he was a regular. They were having a good ol' time. The store itself is a little all over the place, but so am I haha. I was able to find what I was looking for and a few other hidden gems. My go to place for spirits is Total Wine and More but they don't carry the real good stuff. I think Old town Tequila prices were reasonable. If you're looking for hard to find or rare bottles check their website out 1st. Lots of great bottles in stock! read more

Highly recommend for hard to find tequila selections. I went 4 stars due to the miscommunication over phone when asked for a particular brand and its price. When I arrived, it was a different price than what I was told over the phone. read more

If you have questions ask Steve, he is a marvel. The aisle's are cramped and full of the good stuff. I do not have any idea about their delivery options but if you go to the store the selection is vast. If you are unsure go to the restaurant above and try it out before you buy. Again, Steve is awesome, came back for a second bottle he recommended after trying it at El Agave read more

I left disappointed after what could have been a great experience. I drove nearly three hours specifically to visit the store and was prepared to spend a significant amount of money on premium spirits they had available. During my visit, I asked about the future availability of a particular bottle. Instead of discussing allocation policies or how customers might qualify for future releases, I was told that even if they received the bottle, it would only be offered to their "high-end customers." That response left me wondering: what exactly qualifies someone as a high-end customer? I had just traveled a considerable distance and was ready to make a substantial purchase, yet it felt as though I was being told I did not belong to a preferred group before even having the opportunity to become a customer. Limited allocations are understandable, and many stores reward loyal patrons. What was disappointing was the dismissive nature of the response. A simple explanation of the store's allocation process or suggestions on how to build a purchase history would have been far more welcoming. Customer service is about building relationships. Unfortunately, I left feeling that new customers willing to support the business are not valued unless they already meet an undefined status level. read more

I typically buy and have it delivered to our house over the years. Never had an issue with any bottles that were shipped. Today we popped in and scored! Bottles are packed to the rim around the store. Great selection of tequilas. Looking forward to sharing our love of tequila with our friends. Thank you! read more

We were exploring old town tequila and popped into Old Town Tequila to find some mezcal. The store is a medium size but it's packed. We asked the worker if they had a specific brand and he could not find it. Upon roaming the aisles and searching we later were able to find it ourselves. Overall a good selection just very crowded with people and narrow aisles read more

My husband and I inadvertently took a detour here on our way upstairs to eat dinner at El Agave. We have alot of big-box liquor stores around us but prefer boutique spirit shops when possible, so we decided to see what they're all about. We were looking for Blanton's and Casa Dragones which they had. My husband also wanted a specific bitter liquor for Negronis called Tempus Fugit Gran Classico but unfortunately they did not carry it. We thought since they specialize in tequila we might as well grab a bottle of mezcal and picked the associate's (Steve) brain for his recommendations. He gave us a great introduction of his favorites and the most popular ones that customer's gravitate towards. I do have to add what really stood out to us during our whole experience was Steve's customer service. After we paid for our items we were striking conversation with him at the counter - he is very genuine and personable and these interactions with employees are why I love mom and pop shops so much. Oh and a big shout out to the two shop pooches. read more

Extensive and creative wine selection. Easy parking in small lot in front of establishment. Dude with a dog at the door didn't seem to have any purpose. Young man stocking the shelves was nice enough to procure a box. Guy behind the counter seemed to own the joint. Prices not clearly marked. Buyer beware. read more

OTT has an excellent selection of tequila , however, this is where excellence ends. I placed an online order for two bottles of tequila and was shipped promptly with five days estimated shipping. Two days later, I received a note on my front door from DHL that they attempted a delivery. The delivery occurred in the middle of the morning while I was at work. The next day I came home to another note on the door that they attempted delivery. I read the note and there was an option for signing the delivery and placing the delivery note back at the door in case you were not able to be home the next time the delivery driver returns. They did not return again. After contacting DHL directly, it was advised that it was returned back to old town tequila. I called the phone number to old town tequila and spoke to a customer service rep and was told that my order would be returned at full charge minus the $20 delivery fee. I explained the situation to the customer service rep and was told that the package had not been received yet back from DHL and to call back and they would see what they can do to help. I received an email from old town tequila a few days later letting me know that I'd be fully refunded minus the delivery fee. I sent an email back explaining the situation and that I would also request the tequila be shipped back to me at no additional charge as there seemed to be DHL issue and seemed unreasonable amount of attempts for delivery during the middle of the day with the signature were required with no pre-coordination whatsoever. I never received my tequila back nor did I ever receive a reply to my email. If I could give zero stars, I would. You're not the only company selling liquor on the Internet, and I expect better customer. Cheers. read more

The online ordering experience with OTT is a nightmare. They delivered my order to the wrong address and their delivery service did not obtain my signature upon delivery (obviously, since it went to the wrong address). There was no confirmation email from OTT and no response to my email. Dealing with the workers over the phone was a huge waste of time and enfuriating. The workers claimed my email account blocks their emails, but today I received a marketing email from them! One worker kept insisting I entered a different address for shipping vs billing and no matter how many times I corrected him he kept insisting I was wrong. Does he seriously think I don't know where I live??? What a complete imbecile. OTT seriously needs to rethink their e-commerce strategy. read more

After making a fuss, including a Better Business Bureau complaint, the owner reached out to me and when I was in San Diego, the next time he gave me a bottle of tequila that had previously leaked. I took it on board my checked bag and it didn't leak. A word to the wise: if you purchase liquid liquids like tequila, make sure you put paraffin wax on them and take them in your check bag if you can. read more

Old Town Tequila is located in a nondescript parking lot in Old Town, San Diego underneath El Agave restaurant. But when you walk through the doors, it is like you are in a tequila and mezcal museum! They must have 1000 or more different tequilas. You've never seen anything like it... Staff are gruff but funny and nice when you engage them. Don't get your feelings hurt if they don't run over to help you. Just go and ask them for help or advice. I was looking for a hard-to-find bottle of mezcal that they once had but no longer had. But the guy knows the inventory so well he thought he had a similar bottle by the same maker. It was one of a series, We walked through aisles, between boxes stacked to the rafters and he said, "I think it's here behind these bottles".... so we moved aside the bottles and there it was! I was happy to get another bottle in the series and the price was great... considering what a rare mezcal it was. Go check this place out... browse... buy a gift for someone who loves tequila. Best place ever! read more

The staff was so friendly and pleasant. I was immediately greeted and felt so welcome. I walked in and a sea of tequila greeted me! All shapes, sizes, and brands! Do not recommend. I purchased a bottle of fancy alcohol (vodka) as a gift for my father in law for my wedding in 2021. The bottle did not have the image on it that was displayed in the photo (which was why I bought it). I tried to do an exchange. They asked me to send the bottle back which I did. They never refunded my money and did not send a new bottle. So they took my money and the bottle of alcohol. I tried to file a complaint with my bank but too much time had passed. Unethical business. This was an expensive bottle of alcohol too. Really soured the wedding experience. Do not recommend supporting this shady business. read more

Omg this is Tequila heaven! I've never seen so many choices in my life. I always knew this was here but from the outside it doesn't look like much. I was looking for a very hard to get Tequila and they were the only place to have it. I tried calling to make sure they had it but the phone was busy a lot. That's understandable because of the selection they have and they ship all over. I got there right when they opened and there was already people in there. I couldn't believe my eyes!! It was crazy. Tequila for days!!! And I mean 5,789 days!!! They asked me if I was looking for a special Tequila and he went and got me two versions of it. I ended up getting the higher end of the two and told him I would be back. I was looking for the Jenni Rivera Tequilas. Everyone seems to be sold out of them. Went to Old Town Tequila because I'm going to a wedding and the bride asked me to pick up a special bottle of tequila that this store had. I went on their website and the bottle was listed. Went to the store and asked the guy if they had the bottle and he said no. Then we played a game of 20 questions giving this guy every opportunity to help me and make a sale. "Can you check to see if you have it in the back?" "No we are sold out" "When are you going to get the bottle in?" "Maybe tomorrow." "What time tomorrow?" "Maybe in the morning, maybe at 4? Idk we get shipments all day." "Could you call me if you get it in?" "No, I'm pretty busy" I DONT THINK YOU ARE!!! Your LIQUOR store closes at 7pm most days(this isn't UTAH), you aren't organizing or keeping the store clean because it is a graveyard of dusty misplaced bottles, and you aren't updating your website when you are out of stock. Hell, I was looking around your store for 10 minutes. You could have maybe put on your customer service hat and offered to find me something similar?!? You could have looked on your computer for other locations that might have this bottle. No, you were too "busy" to get up due to playing on your phone while counting the minutes till the store closed. Crazy thing is there were two employees "working". Called the next liquor store on Google and they looked for the bottle, couldn't find it, then recommended Old Town Tequila. I told them they didn't have it and they replied "they should update their website" lol. Too bad they are "pretty busy." read more

Steve is the manager and he is FANTASTIC and a wealth of insight. He guided us through the world of Tequila and helped us find the perfect flavor based on our likes and dislikes. He's passionate, highly knowledgeable, friendly and doesn't make you feel dumb or rushed. The store is jam packed with tequila that can't be found elsewhere. I ordered a couple of fancy bottles of tequila from oldtowntequila.com at the recommendation of a coworker. So many liquor stores with an online store are scams, but this is absolutely the opposite! Ordering was easy, they sent email updates with all status changes, and when shipping was delayed due to severe weather, I called them to ask what I should expect. A real person answered the phone (rare these days), they immediately contacted the shipping company for an update and I had an email with the latest status within the hour. They use GLS shipping, which is the best wine and liquor shipping company, so the bottles arrived safely and in great condition. I will definitely be shopping with Old Town Tequila again! Thanks for a great experience, OTT! read more

Ordered some tequila online for shipment ( I believe it was next day..but i could be wrong) After a week or so i realized that I hadn't received any email about tracking. Hmm.. i called them and they told me that one item was out of stock and i could swap that item out or choose to wait, I opted to wait. I also said that I would pick up instead of shipping. They said they would call me.... I forgot about this for quite some time..haha. one day i was leaving sea world and i got a call from them that my order was ready for pickup!!! how perfect since i was close by. I swung by and got my order...they credited my card for the shipping cost. nice! the selection is amazing in here!! aisles are very tight so i would suggest no backpack or you will knock something over. I want to come back and explore when i have more time. read more

Awesome selection of liquor. They almost always have what I'm looking for. Prices too, they have these deals online when u purchase something kinda pricy they give u other free bottles or stuff to go with it. Last time we got a dos artes bottle and it had 4 bottles of their new margarita with it! Good stuff, just needs a little cleaning up and better organization. The owner is passionate and probably the most friendly staff there. read more

This is my first experience entering the store. I ordered online for pick up. Ordered two bottles nice tequila, approximately $200 worth. I get to the store and show them my ID told him that I came for an order for pick up, and had my order on my email. The young lady then told me that if I came back next time with an ID and it didn't show my current address I wouldn't be able to pick up the alcohol. The scenes a bit of a challenge since the DMV has a six month waitlist even get in, and we moved out of the area two years ago right before Covid. This place was referred to me but after that experience I don't think I'll ever be coming back to them. It was so disappointing that they took most of the day and a half to find the bottles for me, and then I drive 30 minutes to get there and I'm treated like that. I think they need some training and customer service or customer experience. Mine, would've been a zero, if I could read it and that level. read more

Amazing variety and knowledge of Tequila . The people there are very helpful. I always go there when I'm in town.

I almost always order my tequila here. There is another place I order from but this is probably my spot. I have not had a bad experience from them and I have ordered a lot in the past. I order some for client gifts and personal use as well. I did actually encounter one issue one time. I ordered an extra Anejo tequila but they shipped me a cristalino. I called and they asked me to take pictures of the packaging and the bottle. I sent it back and they shipped me the bottle I was suppose to get. There was no issues in shipping or returns. Shame other people had a bad experience. read more

I ordered a bottle of tequila that I had on vacation. I was a bit skeptical ordering online from a small company but I took a chance. This place is rammed with all kinds of of shapes, sizes, colors of this and that. It's so rammed it's out of array and chaotic with narrow aisles. Not much customer service happened when I came in. I asked for a particular bottle and was told if they had it then it would be sort of like in this general area. So it's like yes we have tequila but head left. It should be somewhere in there you got to dig around for it coz they're not going to help you. It felt like going to a storage unit and trying to find a misplaced shoebox. They have Tequila but they aren't knowledgeable of the tequila they stock is what I observed. Nothing is priced either so you ought to do your due diligence before stepping in. Once I found it, it was another 15 minute wait with two people in front of me coz the customer ahead of us was just rattling off his tequila knowledge to impress no one. Might as well have had a shot of my tequila while waiting. Mel M Yelp 20-62 read more

While Old Town offers a great selection and I've ordered online several times without issues, there's one important thing to be aware of: they do not refund shipping costs if an item is out of stock. In my most recent order, I paid $10-12 per bottle for shipping to the East Coast, but when one bottle was out of stock, I didn't receive a refund for the extra shipping cost. I understand that their terms state shipping costs will not be refunded under any circumstances, but it feels a bit disappointing when the issue is on their side. It's something to be aware of, as you won't know which items might be out of stock when placing your order, which makes it feel like a bit of a gamble. Definitely something to consider for future orders. read more

Wow, I bought 2 bottles from them and one of the bottles was bad. It had no taste to it and tasted just like pure alcohol meaning that it was either old stock and or it was just bad. 6 days passed after I sent an email the same day of receiving the order and telling them I want my money back. A very rude man named Zahir Romaya (Must be the owner) called me and started yelling at me and telling me that alcohol never gets bad and that I should call the company that makes the product. After blaming me for the bad product, (Really?) I had enough of him yelling at me and I could barely understand him, I hung up the phone. He then texts me that I am no better than a shoplifter for stealing from him? HUH? What a horrible experience, poor customer service and then blames me for disputing the charge. You cannot make this stuff up! Glad AMEX has my back! read more

As lots of other people said their customer service is rubbish. Misinformed my delivery, kept an adult at the house for 3 days because "adult signature required" not... they put me on hold for 5 minutes then hung up on me. Called back, person who answered the phone said she accidentally hung up on me then put me back on hold. Okay... all in all order took a couple weeks to get and there were multiple screwups with the shipping. That said they had the best price on what I wanted ($100 less than BevMo) and the shipment was very well packed. I was concerned with the heat the bottles would be 100 degrees when I got them but they were still cool to the touch and in perfect condition. If you want great prices, this is your place...if you want great customer service...this is not the tequila store you are looking for... read more

First thoughts walking in was that it was chaotic in the presentation of the liquor and overall look... Trying to find something took a little time, since my time was limited I needed help... The gentleman working was very nice and helpful, he found what I was looking for and recommended something else... So I left with 2 bottles of tequila!!! I could of spent an hour in there looking for stuff, because they had a lot of inventory/brands and because it was chaotic... Pricing was average... I do recommend this place, but plan on spending a good amount of time your first visit there... read more
