Stay away from this guy Bill, the owner. He is a cranky grump with very poor customer relation skills and very overpriced. He uses minors to service bikes after school. I had a tune up on my road bike last fall that cost roughly $300. I brought it home and put it in my basement until this Spring when I went to use it. The gear lever wouldn't shift the chain. I had to take it back this week (35 minute drive each way x2) and pick it up the following day. When I asked Bill what was wrong with it, his curt response was "I don't know... I didn't work on it"! Also, NO apology for my inconvenience or the shoddy work but an inconvenience for him to help a 72 yo put it back in his car. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and still left my wife's bike for a simple flat repair. When I went back to pick it up the charge was $48, which included $15 for Stan's Tire Sealant and 2.9% credit card fee (I was unaware of). He never asked if I wanted this sealant and I was not given the remainder of what I paid for. Since Bill was not there at the time, I called him the next day to inquire about this charge and he was extremely rude and went ranting off that if I needed money that bad... to come down and he'd refund my money and even buy me a cup of coffee... blah, blah, blah! WTF? I've since learned... Go to REI in Reading and you can get the same sealant for less than $4 which you can use multiple times and a tire repair for $20 total, labor and materials. Don't waste your time, money or peace of mind at Beverly Bikes... I should have taken the time to read the other poor reviews he's gotten. read more

1st time shopping at Beverly Bikes. My wife needed a new bike and hasn't had one in like 20 years, so we needed to be educated on what to get her and I will tell you, one of the best shopping experiences I've had in years! Bill the owner was just awesome! Down to earth, like a real human, but knows his stuff and knows how to help you pick out a bike and make sure it's exactly what you want. Super laid back, no high pressure crap, just a great experience from start to finish. The other guys in the shop were super cool, a gentleman named Fin was also very helpful. I will 100% be back to grab bikes for both of my teenage boys, my near 70 year old Mother and for myself. If you are looking for a new bike and are in the Beverly area, this is definitely the place to go to and give your business to, I promise you, you will not regret it! read more

He loves what he does and he is brutally honest. Bill is in this business for the right reasons which is very hard to find these days. He has always made sure I picked the correct bike, and that it is safe to ride, and is financially fair and worked with me. Bill cares about his people. My car was repossessed and he saved my life picking the right bike to get me to work safely, and the correct bike for a safe pleasure bike ride with my daughter, and he made sure I didn't leave the store without getting enough safety equipment and made sure I was visible and safe. I came here on a whim because my daughter needed a new bike rather quickly with all of the shops opening up at 10, this one was surprisingly open at 8am! Fortunately for me, they had one just her size. Although it was more expensive than I had originally hoped for, I knew that going to a bike shop specifically would likely amount to a more expensive purchase. I was greeted by a very nice man (can't remember his name offhand) who immediately offered me a cup of coffee which I so desperately needed at that hour. He was helpful in terms of explaining all of the features and tips for both the bike and the helmet I purchased and encouraged me to bring the bike in soon to get a free tune up. Although it wasn't a long encounter, I was really pleased with the experience. He was so nice, engaging and personable and knew his stuff. Highly recommend Beverly Bikes. read more

The owner is pretty legit. His employees, in my eyes, were a little lazy. They were not able to find our bike very easily and had plenty of time to fix our bike (a day or two) but it was still incomplete (easy fix, no ordered parts). They apparently had plenty of time because they were just hanging out, not working on anything when we arrived. read more

I wish I could gives this place more than 5 stars. Often I go to bike shops that leave me feeling inferior about my bike knowledge- this leads to being overcharged because you have no idea what the heck is going on. The employees at Beverly Bikes are extremely welcoming and accepting of all types of bikers and levels of riding. In addition to buying from the shop I also went on their group rides during the week. After a miserable year of riding alone due to Covid, I felt so lucky to ride with this group and build a relationship with people in the area. I really cannot recommend this shop enough- the staff is spectacular, the pricing is reasonable, the turn-around is fast and the group rides are worth making the time for. read more

I had expected the derailleur and cable tensions to have been all finished up previously. So I had to then go back and have it all gone through again once the speed bike broke down. This terrible oversight cost me a lot of time and ; since I wound up paying twice for the cassette and gearing. The technician said it was mostly because I was riding the bike too much, which seemed a bit strange to me. Since I typically only ride it like ten or twelve miles a day. I didn't appreciate them putting the blame for their miscues onto me! read more

I've had nothing but good experiences with the shop. Helpful, really down to earth employees. They make practical suggestions with regards to repairs and upgrades and don't try to sell you gold parts for an old bike. They have a good system for organizing ride, are welcoming to new riders and willing to answer questions you might have. The owner is passionate about biking and helpful. I called around to all the surrounding bike shops during the COVID-19 pandemic and got estimates from 4-8 weeks for a tune up. I called Beverly Bikes and they were able to take my Bike in right away and turn it around in just 4 days. They did an excellent job and I think the pricing was more than reasonable. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely return for any bike work in the future i may need. read more

Terrible customer service. I purchased a used bike from Beverley Cycles which I was assured was in working condition. While riding the day after purchase, the pedal fell off. I brought it back to the shop. They tried to charge me to put the pedal back on. I started riding the bike again and the front wheel fell off. I had to have the bike repaired by another shop. At that point, I decided to bring the bike back to the shop to see if I could return the bike for significantly less than what I had paid for the bike. The owner refused to take the bike back. Super friendly, low pressure, knowledgeable staff. I went in here looking for a new mountain bike after having not bought a bike in around 12 years. One of the repair guys was the only one working and he showed me around and really knew what he was talking about. Talked to the owner later on and he was equally low-pressure, friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. Having been out of "the scene" for so long I had a lot of dumb questions, but the guys here were patient and told me everything I needed to know. If you are like me and love the local bike scene this is the place. No discrimination between bike owners. Weather you have a Schwinn or a specialized these guys are well trained and help you get back on the road. I have been taken my bikes there since browns refused to work on bikes that weren't purchased there and cycle loft that wanted a hundred bucks just look at it. Everyone is knowledgeable and honest and a great crew of guys. I buy all my bikes there and ride with all the employees in local charity rides. Can't Say enough good stuff about the place. read more

I went to Beverly Cycles after having a terrible experience at another local shop. The owner greeted me with a handshake and an offer of a cup of coffee. I explained my needs and concerns and he immediately found two bikes that would fit my low budget and my riding style (first bike in 40 + years). I test drove both of them and found one to be perfect for me. He gave me an excellent price and spent a lot of time with me going over any accessories I might need. Long story short, I came in $17.00 over my budget with a great bike. All in all it was a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this business to any type of rider out there, and if you're like me - a little shaky and just needing a ride around town, this is the place to go, I never felt condescended to or uncomfortable in any way and was treated like a valued customer. They charge significantly more than other bike shops in the area. However, the service is just mediocre. Employees are not very friendly. They don't even clean up your bike thoroughly after a tuning up. It seems they don't care that much about your bike. Very disappointed. I'll never come back to this shop. read more

Bill is awesome & we highly recommend this place. Service was above and beyond. We rented cruisers and wanted to ride to a swim spot. Bill recommended a swimming hole from his childhood and gave amazing detailed directions on a beautiful country ride complete with lunch spot and his cell in case we needed anything. read more
