If a coffee shop is connected to a bookstore, you know I have to go to it. After a 5 mile hike in the nearby state park, we came to this local downtown area to get some coffee and food. This location had fresh baked pastries on display and we decided to stop in to try a few. The staff were really sweet and explained everything that they had on display. We came later in the day so they were an hour out from closing, but still very kind. There is so much seating and games and different souvenirs that you can purchase in this café as well. You can definitely taste these pastries were made from scratch based on the dough and how flaky they came apart. If you come here, definitely get the spinach and artichoke pastry! read more

I really enjoyed my first time visit to Better World during Christmas break. I perused the store first, and loved their wonderful selection of books, high end chocolate, maple syrups, air plants, and handcrafted mugs. Then, I proceeded to the register and ordered myself a chai latte. I was very pleased with the flavor. I do have to say the prices for both beverages/snacks and gifts are up there, but you get what you pay for. My chai latte ran about $5 and change. The mugs that I was eyeing, but did not purchase were all $45. But again, they're unique and you won't find them on Amazon. The staff is very kind and helpful and I loved their sign at the back of the store that they do not sell or support any products made in Russia or China. Kudos to them!! If you're looking to treat yourself while in Milford or even for that perfect gift for someone, this is the spot to go. read more

I was really in the mood for a smoothie to stumbled across this spot. I parked nearby when I arrived. I walked in, and it reminded me of a holistic spot with good healthy items. The nice man took my order of Better than a Snicker smoothie. It was about $10. It looked tasty when it was done! When I drank the smoothie, it was very good! I had a good experience! read more

Better World is my favorite juice bar and cafe! It's the only place in town where I can get my green juice and ginger shots and all my holistic health supplements. The cafe is awesome as well, they have so many creative and delicious pastries and most of them are gluten free so I can actually eat them. They have a wonderful ethos of truly sourcing sustainably and locally. I love the interior as well -- they have such a wholesome, "modern country-rustic" neighborhood vibe. It's a great gathering space where I meet up with friends for tea and a catch-up. Highly recommend Better World. read more

This place is very similar to another store in Lewes Delaware, I had to double-take to make sure it wasn't the same place. The inside of the store is very neat. I enjoyed seeing all the different books collections all over the walls. I thought the price inside the shop were a little bit pricey. I also didn't like how when my mother and I walked in there was no hello we even walked up to the counter and checked things out still no hello. I thought it wasn't nice at all. VERY DISAPPOINTED! I expected the coffee to have a great kick but it wasn't instead it was quite watery. Even after asking the counter person to add a shot no dice. I mean for an $8 cup of coffee it was pitiful. I even saw the owner there at the same time with his baby but he was not engaging as I communicated this to the young woman who prepared the drink. Maybe this is how they feel coffee should be. I'm from the Caribbean and expected a great cup of coffee from this small business as I wanted to support them as local. read more

We frequent better world, both one and two very often. It is one of our favorite local coffee shops and smoothie bar places. With my recent dietary restrictions of being dairy, free and caffeine free, I can still visit betterworld and their smoothie bar section. They have various milk options, such as coconut milk, and oat milk, and their coffee bar section has a limited selection of food. There are also tables around, so you may sit relax and enjoy working in their shop. I often come here to work on my off days. The owner Liam is very kind and it truly makes me happy to support local! Definitely recommend this is one of my favorite places in Milford. read more

I first discovered this place a year ago as my lawyer was in the area and I wanted coffee. The service displease me but I again revisited earlier this year with my sibling and mom. My mom was indecisive and the female working the counter and owner just kept making glaring eyes at each other and eventually whispering. We were the only people being served. We all bought pastries and coffee and now it was my entire fam.. not just myself that left there feeling uncomfortable. I am a person of color and a big proponent of small businesses. I'll easily pay for your overpriced coffee and pastries as long as it's good, but not when it's offered with poor distasteful service and glaring looks for tips. Update: I went back there recently and fortunately the owner wasn't there. One should lead by example in their business and he surely doesn't! The lady at the counter this visit was quite pleasant compared to the last visit. She was pure trash. read more

Best chai latte I've ever had! And the OMG chocolate lived up to its title. Plus the idea of buying a book and bringing back a book you bought there for a discount is appealing to any librarian aka book hoarder in the area. Charming place, warm vibe, kind staff, and fascinating wares. It's my go-to source for a hostess gift. Now that they have the ciabatta, asiago garlic loaves, and good cheese formerly available at the summer/fall Milford Farmer's market, my winter provisioning excursions will be complete. The wooden toys are cool, and it's fun to see children playing with them in the store, which seems to be happening every time I visit. Nice they added a big table so you can drink your coffee and eat your snack comfortably inside the store. Good place. read more

I particularly love how clearly communicated the menu options are, especially the coffee. Customer Service: Have you ever been to a restaurant or cafe and selected a specific item from the dessert display (e.g., a specific pre-sliced piece of cake)? Did you get the item you wanted? Don't try this here! Out of 3 pieces of cake on a flat plate, we asked for the far left piece since it appeared to be the biggest piece and it was to be shared. The server boxed up a different piece of cake. I'm sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear, I want that piece. I heard you. We don't do that. Our policy is to serve right-to-left. Then turn the plate around. Do you want this piece or not? Spoke to the owner afterwards thinking he wouldn't want this type of customer service to anyone, and he has seen us there many times, we take visitors there, we buy books there. That's our policy. We serve right to left to save time when it's busy. (There was nobody there at this time). Have a nice day he says. We left without buying dessert or 2 drinks of coffee. What an impressive little niche coffee shop/shopping spot! I was really impressed with the fact that they are sticking with locally sourced goods, as well anything that is not imported from a tyrannical country. The shop with the smoothies offers a lot of zero waste product options! The shop with the espresso and food and books was absolutely adorable and relaxing. The young lady who worked today and yesterday morning was excellent at her job and offered wonderful customer service. She deserves extra tips! Not a family oriented business and rude. Ashamed to have given my money to this place. I ordered 4 drinks ($30, plus a $6 tip for the barista) after being there the evening before at both the juice and coffee shop while waiting for my drinks, my infant (3 months old) needed a diaper change so as a new mom quickly realized there was no restroom near in town with a changing table so whipped out my changing mat and laid her quickly on the chairs while waiting for my drinks. As I took out my supplies, the male barista loudly barks across the cafe that my daughters diaper could not be changed there because it was a "food establishment" and people eat where I was changing her - on the chairs .. The male barista recommended the restroom next door that has no changing table in it to go change my daughter. I packed my stuff and waited patiently for my drinks, when approached by the female barista who apologized up and down for the others behavior. Will not be returning. read more
