Went on a Friday night with friends. There was live music and lots of people both inside and outside. Lots of places to sit. Plenty of kids running around too. Not much of a beer drinker, but they also have cocktails and wine. I enjoyed the raspberry collins cocktail and tried the butterbeer (tasty but very sweet). Was impressed by the food overall, but it took awhile to get the food due to the crowd of people there that night. Tried cheese pizza, margherita pizza, 2 flavors of wings (Nashville hot honey and dry rub), corn dogs and fries, all delicious! Pizza is nice and thin with good tomato sauce and fluffy crust, and just the right amount of cheese. The touch of basil drizzle was perfect on the margherita. Wings were crispy and well seasoned/sauced. Was surprised to get 2 corn dogs rather than just 1. Fries were thin, crispy and nicely brown. Will definitely be back. read more

This was my third time here. The cheese pizza was a littttle burnt this time, but it was delicious. The Caesar Salad Pizza was 5/5 though. The place still stands good in service and a lovely setting. We'll be going back. They have indoor seating and outdoor. I get into the beautiful environment when I go there. The parking lot is welcoming, a bit quick off the road but it's worth it. Great beer! They have flights. They have Blue Ridge Wine and a wonderful selection of cocktails. They obviously have a full bar. The building and grounds are perfect for an afternoon of drinking and socializing. Inside and outdoor bar. Picnic tables. Dogs allowed outside only. We ordered onion petals, chicken nachos and edamame. All were hot and tasty. There is plenty of room and people were pouring in! The servers are young and so friendly! This gem of a place we found using Google, since it's on route 209 from NY into PA close to home. Apparently we are the only ones who didn't know about as it was jam packed with people. The Pros: it's a nice space, also has a small upstairs, but that had a party going on so not available. Decent beer menu, also offering wine, mixed drinks that can also be made into mocktails(I was DD) My husband had a pilsner that he enjoyed. We came on this Saturday night bcuz there was a band playing. I found the food to be very good. From the pizza to the sandwiches, nice portions. I had the pot roast sandwich, that had melted swiss&frizzled onions on top, with a side of a spicy creamy dip, outstanding! The pizzas going around my friends table were pepperoni & chicken cutlet, all delish. Decently priced. The Con: really the only one I can say is when we got there, again no seating, only on their covered outside,which is where we went to sit & eat, can't fully hear the band in there. This place has people coming in through out the evening, so I just feel like they should allow reservations, bcuz who's to say our party of 6 wasn't going to get the first available table without someone else trying to sneak past to grab it. Not that that was going to happen. It was very obvious that when u get there, you don't move,even if you're done with your meal. Again, not really a complaint, but a warning if there's music, you better get there @ like 4 to grab a table, and money to spend on drinks. Such a disappointment in our visit today. We have been at this brewery many times and today when we were there with our three kids the female owner came out and yelled rudely at our 9 year old for fixing their Easter decorations on their indoor window. Saying "Get off of the window I just replaced that glass it was $2,000" in a mean tone pointing her finger, yelling at my kid. I let her know that there is a nicer way to speak to children and her response was "That's the nicest I can be." Our daughter wasn't doing anything dangerous or harmful to the establishment, just thoughtfully trying to fixing a decoration. This should be a family friendly place and it will now be one we do not go to. read more

We have come to frequent this establishment and it is really finding its own. You can bring your dog if you stay outside. Children are welcome too. Their drinks are great. Though I'm picky with beer I really enjoyed several pours. We returned today for a growler of the Witches Brew which is a nice balanced and not overly alcoholic seasonal. The pizza there is good too. More so than you may think. The s'mores pie is a cool but sweet desert thing. Last night the pizza maker had some fun spinning them and tossing them overhead. We had the smash burger, pot stickers, boneless chicken wings and a Bavarian pretzel with several beers and a lavender gin drink the name of which escapes me at the moment. It was chilly out by the time we left. They do have a fire pit. It was wonderful to see the place packed and enjoying a really good band. It is great to see a place really doing well around here considering how bad a few favorites have fallen from grace. Taste some and sit down and enjoy time here. Been here multiple times and this has become a very popular place to come. With that said it doesn't give the excuse for the helpers and servers to be rude. If they are overwhelmed hire more people. Stood at the bar for 10 minutes to ask a question while the 2 bartenders ignored me. Just serving the people in the line ordering $14 of beers. I had a hundred dollar tab going for a table of 6. I spend that every time I go there. So pay attention to everyone if you are going to have food and table service!! And pizza is expensive. Too expensive for a brewery. A shame as we go for the live entertainment very often as we are local. read more

This is a very fun brewery! My wife and I came here with our family at the beginning of June and we had a blast. The atmosphere is great and there's plenty of seating for large and small groups. The service was good throughout and we enjoyed being able to order at the counter so we could get extra food and drinks as we wanted them. The beer was pretty good and it was refreshing on a hot day. We got a variety of apps to eat and they were all pretty good with the wings being the best of the lot. It's a fun place and one that we would definitely go back to again! read more

Went to Backroad for the 1st time last weekend, here's my honest review. The place is visually nice with ample parking. Large indoor area with tables, and an outdoor bar with seating. As many brewery's do, they allowed dogs outside. They have a smoking area off to the side and there were a lot of smokers. This meant there was a lot of cigarette smoke drifting through the air outside. I did have a pizza while I was there, and it was good. I watched the two younger guys making the pizzas and they were crushing it, by far the hardest working people I saw that day. I had a few different types of beer and they were just OK, nothing special. Now for some negatives. At this brewery, the hardest thing was actually getting a beer!! The outdoor bar had two bartenders and there were about half dozen people waiting to order, the bartenders were really slow so I decided to go inside. Bad move on my part! Inside the beer line was longer. I counted 16 people in front of me. I decided to stick it out since I was on the line. There were 2 bartenders working inside and honestly, neither one was the least bit concerned about the line, or made any effort to hustle just a bit. There could have been 2 people or 200 people and they still moved along at a snails pace. I'm not blaming the bartenders, they clearly need MORE people serving beer. This is unacceptable for a business who's main product is beer. One more thing.... $7 for a 10oz beer in a cheap plastic cup is borderline expensive for that beer, and the plastic cup just degrades the product. I thought maybe it's because they didn't want any glass outside, but they used plastic cups inside as well. Nothing like a fine craft beer in a cheesy plastic cup. read more

One of us went here a couple times last year and found it a solid Poconos three, so the whole family dropped in here this past week for some pizza and beers. The space is cavernous and decorated in that "Live, Love, Laugh" Home Goods aesthetic, but make it barn- and beer-themed. There was some awful sounding live music outside, so we chose to stay in their freezing cold indoors space (cannot even imagine what the A/C bill must be here!). There's no one to greet you and there are multiple separate lines for everything, so you just kind of figure it out as you go. Beers ranged from OK to unimpressive. The massive pretzel does indeed come out in a massive size, but the accompanying sauce is questionable. The caesar salad is what you'd expect from a bag, and our kid's mac-n-cheese was from a Kraft box. The reason why we're rounding down to two stars--because the place really is 2.5 stars--instead of up is because the pizza is just outrageously bad. We got their "signature" pie, which was chunks of reheated frozen chicken breast with a drizzle of sweet BBQ sauce and just why? And why are we so dumb for holding out hope about it? What is wrong with us?? The "servers" milling about are friendly, and the price is constant with what you'll find in the area, but this place just put a bee in our bonnet that we could not squash. Also, the bean bags for their corn hole were completely trashed! The spirit is there for Back Road, but the execution is not, so we will likely not be back again. read more

A great place with live music Fri.Sat.Sun!!! Well staffed and very friendly, great work! So comfortable to sit and enjoy live music. Drinks are delish and for this New Yorker the pizzas being served looked great too. We had eaten before going but found ourselves there 2 weekends in a row! The decorum outside is so welcoming. Can't wait to go there in the summer months! There is PLENTY of parking. My husband hopes they consider adding a cruise night/car show to their entertainment. read more

We found out about Back Road Brewing by word of mouth, and it worked out OK. We had a variety of pizzas and cocktails. On the way in I intended to have a beer (cause brewery?) but once I saw the menus, beer became cocktails. Maybe that was a mistake. The plus is the cocktail prices were very favorable to other places. Then I found out why, they were small, ice heavy and didn't have much "teeth" to them. Hopefully the beer is better. That day's bartender stayed busy but did a nice job of being nice. The pizzas had good flavor but the crust was too thin and rigid for my preferences. Seat yourself is the environment so that was cool - pick exactly where you want to be. The interior was dim but very spacious and had a warm feeling imo, and the back lawn looks very inviting to relax on. It was fun to watch some grade school kids freely play on the stage and perform for whoever was watching. Overall we had a good enough time that I'd consider coming again, and the actual brewery beers. read more

Friends recommended trying this place for the first time. So all 6 of us piled in the car and headed to Back Road Brewing. The fire cooked pizza was outstanding. The young man throwing the dough knew just when to stop so the crust was thin and crisp and delicious; I would definitely go back just for the pizza. The Chicken Cesar salad was definitely out of a bag and overly dressed. So was the grinder salad was also overly dressed and seemed it too came out of a premade bag. The meatball appetizer was delicious with the right amount of seasoning. The chicken wings were so-so. Not something we'd get again as were the chicken sandwiches. They are served with just a bun and nothing else. The nachos were also -so-so. Served on house made potato chips NOT tortilla chips. 3 of my guests had the apple cider beverage served at the bar. All 3 became ill because of it. The beer was cold and went will with the food. The staff is great. The barn like atmosphere is contrived but there is plenty of seating. We will be back for the pizza and beer, but not much else. read more

My family of four go here at least once a week. It has by far the best food in the area if you are looking for burgers and pizza. I don't understand how people can say the beer is bad. It has any kind of beer you want. I like the lazy river because it has low alcohol so I can drink a few. There are cool games for the kids like janga, connect 4, and fake axe throwing. There is a big area for the kids to run and some live music. I can't really understand the bad scores on here. Probably competitors. One couple negatives are that they tell you to go to the bar for lemon if you want in your seltzer and that you have to get your own ketchup, plasticware and napkins. That's pretty annoying. Used to be a great place to go and chill, have a drink, some good food and listen to the band. Unfortunately, It has become a playground for millennials to bring their kids while they drink. It's a Brewery, not McDonalds. Parents want to have parties for the 8 year olds so it gives them an excuse to drink. If that's the case stay home and have a party. Not everyone appreciates your unsupervised kids. The second part of this is the regulars who come in and scarf up 5 tables and rearrange to accommodate their large group leaving no availability for others. I blame this on management! There is not order. Any type of birthday or other occasion should have to make a reservation in the loft ONLY. Secondly, parties of 6 or more should have to reserve a table. But I guess the dollars signs are the only thing that matters to them. Like a said it "used to be a great place" to go. Leave it to inconsiderate HUMANS and no caring Managers to ruin a good thing. First off, you seat yourself and have to get up in a line to order your food. No signs or instructions on what you have to do as your own self server. Plus, there are no servers coming by to check on you or get you a new drink. Apparently they also dont have any pitchers for water, so if you have a big group, people will be constantly getting up to fill their own waters. Carnival food, fried and served with a cup of mayo. They try advertising this as kid friendly, which is odd for a brewery, so you have plenty of screaming children to compliment your very unfriendly patrons! The whole place is very very loud. Very big tourist hole, not for the locals. Go to Log Tavern for beer and go to the Social for better bar food. This is a poor representation of the hospitality industry capabilities of this area. read more

Great food, drinks, and live entertainment. We went on. Thursday night and they had a live singer/gutair player on stage performing country/bar songs. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating (and outdoor games). We tried multiple appetizers- potstickers, onion pedals, wings (with Nashville hot sauce). We also had a margatitta pizza, corn dogs with fries and then a smores pizza for desert. Everything was very good! The music was loud inside, but it was quiet outside if you wanted to be able to have more low key conversations with your group. Besides the beers on tap, they also have a bar but we didn't try any of those drinks. We tried a beer flight and a cider. The beers were their own brews and the cider was from another local-ish cider brewery. You can see their upcoming brews in the tanks between the entrance and the taps. My husband and I were visiting the area for our anniversary. We have stayed at Babbling Brook Cottages for the past few years. The owner Lamar recommended Back Road Brewing awhile back. It's become my husband's favorite thing to do during our weekend! We travel with our bulldog Porkchop so we love when we find a place with not only great food and drinks but dog friendly. Every time we have gone the staff has been amazing. All the servers could not be more helpful and accommodating. My hubby is a pizza connoisseur of sorts and he LOVES the pizza here! I love the pizza as well but the fried mozzarella is delicious. We visited again today, but before we went I called to see if they had the patio open with heaters since it was cold. The woman who answered the phone was kind enough to check to see if their enclosed patio was open. She said it was open and we were allowed to bring our Porkchop! When we arrived they not only opened the patio for us but turned the heaters on as well. The food was incredible again and the servers were awesome. Milford is a really cute and pleasant town. Almost perfect, in fact. With the addition of Back Roads Brewing, it moves closer to that perfection. Placed in a stunning, refurbished barn setting, this brewery offers their own solid beer selection, along with some rotating taps. Wine and seltzer (and soft drinks) round out the beverage selection well. Dan at the bar is a friendly soul who knows his stuff. On another line, Kim will ring you up after you choose some food from the menu, with selections including a variety of pizzas, and wings that are presented by the "sevens". I'll be back to try other items and the live music in a gorgeous setting will be another magnet. Owner Pat has created a beautiful, wood-rich setting on park like grounds. Families, couples and beer enthusiasts will each be at home there. Even better, Back Roads Brewery has found a home in Milford and I predict that it will become a "go to" spot in the months and years ahead! I know I'll be back!! read more
