Gotta say this place has a 4.8 rating for a reason! From the road, it looks like a normal house, but inside it is pretty large with plenty of seating and a good sized island bar. Stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner during their visit time. The service was great overall, they were fast, efficient, friendly, and attentive. Best for last, the food. I have no notes. Everything was homemade and mouthwatering. I ordered the clam chowder and fried cod bites, both of which were splendid. The cod bites were flaky, buttery, and light, and came with some absolutely delicious homemade tartar sauce. This place is always on the list one of the nights when I'm up visiting my brother who's a local there. If I'm only up one night there is no list because Bakers is where we're having dinner. Older looking place inside but very well kept for that back in the day ambiance. Great food and beer at reasonable prices definitely sets it a part from some of the new fancier places opening up over the years in the surrounding towns. Was driving from the Woodstock Museum at Bethel Woods when we stumbled upon this 70 year old restaurant and bar. Good sign that parking lot was jammed. Walked in and was reminded by the hostess that it was taco Tuesday. Tacos were either $2 or $3 and margaritas $5. The ground beef, pork, shrimp and veggie tacos were outstanding. The steak tacos were a bit tough. The tortillas tasted homemade. The nachos were incredible. The taco chips were freshly fried out of tortillas cut pieces. Most Mexican restaurant could learn how to make stellar margaritas from this joint's bartenders. They were perfect! Wait staff was friendly and very attentive. Friendly crowd. I popped into this place expecting pub fare and good gracious did it blow me away. Irish nachoes were perfect steak fries, delicately and perfectly seasoned. I tried to get that as an entree and the server upsold me with a pizza for which I owe him a lasting debt, because this is the best thing I've had since I was in Italy. I don't know what they do to the dough--I guess it must be a carefully cultivated yeast but it has to buttery taste that's just... just try it. This restaurant was a staple for us before Covid times, and it's provided great takeout food since Covid started. We are very grateful to them and have enjoyed their food. The food is consistent, with a decent range of options for the local area. Their pizza is very excellent and well priced! We hope that over time, they continue to grow and thrive, and add even more dishes and different ethnic options to their menu. We live in NJ and Shohola PA and we googled and found Back to Bakers and we went and boy let me tell you this place has to be the best place we have had a meal in this entire PA/NY area! Justin our waiter was FABULOUS! We had dry rub wings, steamed clams, salmon with penne pesto and the pulled pork sandwich dinners! We couldn't decide which plate was more delicious than the other! The prices are are great, beautiful portions! DEFINITELY GOING BACK and hope to get Justin as our waiter again! All the customers were friendly and in the parking lot we seen a couple from NJ and we said wait until you try the food, they said we come here all the time! We said that we will definitely be back! Had only been there once before for a pizza which was good. Ventured over to get out of the snowbound house for Tuesday taco night. Tried 4 different ones and all were yummy. Prices are $2 or $3 depending on filling. Tuna and in-house made pork were both very tasty. Also liked the shrimp (nice size and coating) and the steak. $5 margarita was good to. After a long tough night of snowboarding with my family, this place was a warm welcome! We all got the burger. One of the top 3 burgers I've ever had. Hand made patties, grade A...i mean incredible. Size of my kids' heads..served with salad and a pickle..all fresh. And the fries!...just all around delicious. The staff was awesome! Couldn't have been nicer. I left my card there and they called the hotel we were staying at up the road (luckily i told them during friendly conversation) to let me know. I can't wait to go back! read more
