Being spontaneous decided to drive to this bookstore and check it out! When I was home for 6 weeks due to medical, I became more interested than ever in reading so I was glad I decided to check this place out as I found and bought 4 books of psychological thrillers and murder mysteries for under $20. Its definitely weird for me to read paperbacks as I'm used to my kindle but mixing it up is fun lol. It's a really cute bookstore, a nice size with different selections of books to read. They have a good selection for parents looking for children books. It's in a cute town and makes for a nice visit to walk around. So if you in the area and into books, check this place out.

Sooooo many books...

We're always on the lookout for indie bookstores whenever my boyfriend and I travel, and we heard about Inquiring Minds from a recommendation via fellow Yelp Elite member Bill Z. I'm glad we stopped in, because we ended up spending quite some time meandering around the stacks and shelves upon shelves of books! They have EVERYTHING here, but be prepared to wander around for a bit, since the organization of the store itself could be a bit more precise. However, if you're nerds like us and want to carve out some time to get lost in literature, you'll love it here! As I mentioned before, they have books for everyone, from children to adults, and for every kind of niche. I loved looking around the section on theatre books, and enjoyed browsing the collection of Shakespeare and contemporary plays. I even got to chat with a few fellow theatre makers among the stacks, and it's experiences like these that reflect how important it really is to support small bookstores like this one. Nothing better than meeting friends who enjoy the same books that you do! There is also ample seating, and the prices are affordable. Inquiring Minds offers student discounts as well, and a sweet little outdoor shelf with bargain books for sale. Browse around - you'll never know where your next favorite read will be!

Super cute bookstore! The name and cute exterior drew me in. The lady who works there is helpful and has fun anecdotes about many of the books. I bought a used book for $5. Oh how I miss charming little bookstores like this one.

Found a bunch of good picks for super cheap

Cute little shop , recommend it 100% Sitting area inside and out to read. Got almost 10 books for only $22. Pretty good deal.

Another pickup. $2

I stopped in on a whim one evening looking to buy a book or two that perhaps jumped out at me and were a good price. This store more than met my expectations. Everything is well organized and there is a wide selection of books both used and new. My favorite thing was the bundles available for dirt cheap! They are categorized by genre, and come with 5-7 books. I bought a bundle of 6 memoirs for $4! Definitely will be stopping back in to pick up some more books.

Fun little hideout for the kids

Both are quite similar in terms of size, but Barner's selection is a bit more well organized and curated, and also includes a fantastic selection of gifts, like art prints, handmade journals, and even quirky enamel pins! I loved the "Bookstore Cat" one, and wanted to get it, but had already shelled out some money for a pin at Rock Candy Vintage up the street. Ah, well! Next time! Barner Books came to us on a recommendation from fellow Hudson Valley Yelper Bill Z. (be sure to read his awesome review, as well!), and I am so glad we got a chance to stop in before they closed up shop for the day. My boyfriend and I had an abbreviated visit, but it was a lovely one nonetheless, and of course, whet our appetite for future returns! We even got the chance to meet the owner, who was gracious and chatty, and let us browse past closing time. I can't recommend this store enough - it is definitely on our list from now on for must-visits in New Paltz!

My wife has found her new absolute favorite bookstore! I think it is an incredibly thought out and…read moreperfectly executed bookstore meets bar meets cafe. We were about an hour away where this is typically around 5 hours away so knew we needed to check it out being so close. Snagged street parking easily and even just the vibes of the outside started off our experience so nicely. Located at what is dubbed Four Corners that is I believe the only remaining intersection in the US that has pre-revolutionary stone houses on all 4 corners. Such an amazing sight to see the old architecture. Rough Draft has utilized the space so perfectly. Worth visiting even if you are looking to just browse. I highly recommend trying a coffee or tea drink to start your day though and a baked good. If those aren't your cup of tea grab a beer or wine then. My wife got an Iced Mocha and loved it. I went with one of their current specials, "I Know What You Did Last S'more". It was so good but was unique compared to a typical s'more coffee drink since it had espresso and smoked black tea. I also had a chocolate croissant while my wife had a maple palmier and we enjoyed both. We snagged some window seats and it was the perfect way to enjoy the drinks and baked goods. My wife loved browsing the books and thought it had so many unique books she hadn't seen at other bookstores. Which it really is more than just a bookstore with the cafe and bar vibes! Highly recommend everyone check it out, if you can. We look forward to coming back!

I have so many good things to say, where do I even start?!…read more First of all, this book and bar spot is absolutely beautiful. It's located on such a charming street, and stepping inside felt like walking into an elevated Barnes & Noble straight out of a Harry Potter movie. There are endless shelves of books across every genre, cozy seating throughout, and the perfect atmosphere to spend hours browsing or reading. The coffee was just as wonderful as the space. I wasn't sure what to order, so the barista recommended a drink and was incredibly accommodating with my many requests. I can't have too much milk or syrup, so I basically gave them a complicated custom order, and they made it exactly to my liking without hesitation. I also ended up buying one of the chocolate bars they had at the counter and turns out it was $20!!!! As a tourist, I had no idea it was a well known local chocolate brand with a factory nearby, so that was a fun surprise. This is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down. I'd love to come back, grab a coffee, spend the entire afternoon reading, and just soak in the comforting smell of books and fresh coffee. Such a cozy, magical spot that's well worth visiting!

The owner is English and her business is an extension of her lovely personality. I have childhood memories of this place that could have come straight out of a magical fairytale book. There are many categories here; a large history section, gardening, art, film, geography, mythology, crafts, so many categories and subcategories, and because they are curated by someone passionate with books there are no filler books here. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, this is a curated collection by a woman passionate about books, making a living off of it feels secondary here to the passion of finding the books.
