UPDATED REVIEW 7/24/17: The Office Manager, Brittany, called me after reading my Yelp review. She apologized that the staff did not inform me of the contact lens fitting fee up front. She offered to use the money I paid for the fitting fee towards the purchase of contacts. I went in for a follow-up appointment today. The doctor did a quick exam of my new contacts and gave me a replacement for the one I was having trouble with. As promised, they credited my lens fitting fee towards the purchase of my yearly supply of lenses. In addition, they gave me pair of sunglasses! Brittany and the staff made a very nice recovery. I am now a satisfied customer. Thanks AZ Eye Care! ORIGINAL REVIEW 7/9/2017 My exam was 100% covered by insurance. However, they charged me a $199 CONTACT LENS FITTING FEE that insurance covered 10%. Dr. Stern suggested a different brand of contact lenses instead of B&L citing that they had "better optics." However, this appears to be a brand of lenses, lubrication drops, supplements, etc. that he is promoting. If I had decided to stay with my old lenses, they wouldn't have charged the fee. The $199 fitting fee should have been disclosed up front. A mechanic wouldn't do work on your car without first giving an estimate, and a medical doctor wouldn't do a procedure on you without first checking insurance coverage. I feel a bit stung by the process. Otherwise, the staff was nice, and my appointment ran on time. read more

Over priced with insurance I paid way more than I would've elsewhere without insurance. The contacts were also very high even with my insurance allowance so I ended up not ordering my contacts here but when I tried to get the elsewhere they told me I have used up my whole allowance for lens/contacts but I didn't get anything not sure how they were able to make it disappear. read more

Great place! Dr. Yath is very thorough with her exams! She explains everything she's reviewing in layman's terms, and also explains red flags! She offers multiple options for eye wear and explains why they could be beneficial! I did see her at a previous practice, and although it's further away it's worth making the trip! Though I personally find it to be pricey, if you're looking for a eye doctor with access to the best technology with great service, head straight here. My Mom had Dr Thuy Yath before, but she went with another eye doctor and found them to be absolutely mediocre (clearly outdated technology as well) and they eventually closed down for good. Luckily we found Dr. Yath again! She took great care to diagnose my Mom's eye heath, provided the best of her knowledge in her field, and was very friendly! read more

It looks like this business is under new management. I went in for an exam and some new glasses and the service was great! Dr. Yath was certainly knowledgeable and she went further into details about my eyes and the exam process more than any other optometrist I've every experienced. I just went there. The asst. manager just threw a bunch of glasses on the table and walked away. She never came back. I had to go over to her across the room. She was very snippy and not at all nice. I did not buy them because of her. I will not return . I will be sure to tell the person who told me about this place of my lousy experience. read more

OK, i have to admit, I was not expecting much; I have very weird eyes, and glasses don't work well for me, for the most part. I need them for computer use, but then I end up shucking them off for close up work. It's crazy. I've been more successful with contacts, but even then I end up usually needing a pair of readers. So I went in assuming that I would get new contacts and they would be ... Ok. Nothing special, but ok. Imagine my surprise when I got a thorough -- and I do mean thorough -- examination, an explanation as to why glasses are so inappropriate for me, how we can manage contacts so that they absolutely work, and a pair of contacts that literally opened my eyes! I can see. I can read, I can look out on the freeway and see the exit signs, check my phone, then watch tv, all without dealing with glasses going on and off and on again. Dr. Stern is without a doubt determined to get the best outcome for his patient's situations; my husband also went in and got the exact pair of glasses that he wanted. The staff at Arizona Eye Care is professional, friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend them for any and all eye care needs. read more

I had broken the bridge on my glasses. Fortunately Better Vision in Anthem was open given it was a holiday, Labor Day. I didn't want to get new lenses and a frame. They scoured their inventory and found frames to fit my lenses! I was so relieved. My other alternative would be to have the frame repaired, which would have been only a temporary solution, and something they were not able to do as it required soldering. I would highly recommend them. They resolved my predicament. read more

NEW OWNERSHIP. NEW NAME!! Bettner Vision is the new name and has a new doctor/owner since September. I was skeptical after reading the reviews but so glad I chose them! I went at the beginning of the month to get my exam and new glasses! The doctor was so friendly and the front staff is super friendly and helpful. I had a horrid experience at Nationwide and the guy at the desk here was able to fix my current glasses when Nationwide broke them and refused to help me fix them! I returned today because I broke my glasses and needed to just get a frame. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to use my insurance because it was only good on a second pair at the same as the original transaction (being back at the beginning of the month). However, Darlene was amazing and was the first time as well! She helped me find the right pair of glasses, gave me a discount because I missed my insurance usage, and put a rush on them! Prepare to be solicited by Dr. Stern to purchase an oral supplement that helps "lubricate" your eye, as well as benefit your overall health. In addition, he recommended a fruit and vegetable oral supplement that is ordered online and he asks that you use him as a referral because "he gets credit." Interestingly, both products are VERY expensive and not covered through insurance. Although I admit to a very thorough exam, after having my eyes dilated, I was escorted from the darkened exam room directly into the sunlit lobby without being provided sunglasses. Although the staff provided them to me when I asked, I found the doctor to be unfriendly and somewhat uncaring. The fee charged was exorbitant and I will not be returning for future eye exams. read more

Doctor is rude, does not seem to actually care about me as a patient! He charged me for the glasses and they were not the right product, and was unapologetic with the mistake. The prices are outrageous and they do not offer brand name labels but the same as Walmart. This would be fine except he advertises for the other brands. I waited for my appointment 45 minutes even though he was not seeing patients at the time since there was no one else there. The overall cost of the exam was $129 at Walmart the same exam would have been around $60. (I'm not an advocate of Walmart but just comparing prices). read more

Terrible customer service. They say they will call you back and never do! I've now called 5x just to find out if glasses have been order. And get told each time "we will call you back" never get a call back, ever. Front desk rep (Tamar I think is her name) is always rude and over talks you and doesn't even listen to the question you're asking and combats and argues vs offering help it's very unprofessional and frustrating. Asked to speak to office manager to maybe finally get a simple answer and she refused to let me and made excuses. Lack of communication between all parties who work in the office no one seems to ever know what's going on and sometimes get transferred to 3 different people with still getting no answer and the person before doesn't even communicate to the next why they're getting on the phone so I have to explain myself over and over again. Super disappointed in their service. Who knows if I'll ever even get my glasses. Will not be returning for further services next year. Doctor should really reconsider his staff so he doesn't lose more patients due to front office. read more

I had an excellent eye exam with state of the art equipment. Dr. Stern took plenty of time with me to explain my vision issues and make sure I understood everything. Just moving here, I had not found an eye clinic yet! My daughter & grand daughter have been patients of Dr. Lawrence & recommended I go see them. I have an eye infection that was not getting better so I call in the morning before office hours & someone answered the call. They were able to see me within the hour! All were pleasant and helped treat the infection I was experiencing! The Dr. & Staff are rated a 10 in my book! read more

I had a bad experience with Arizona Eye Care and will never return. Initially everything was fine (except the store smells really bad) until my daughters glasses came in with the wrong lenses. Our insurance covers anti-glare lenses and these clearly were not. We took the glasses to them and were told the correct lenses should arrive in 2 weeks. We never heard from them so 3 weeks later I called back. I was told there was no proof the lenses were ordered and they needed time to research. A week later I had still heard nothing so I called back only to be told the same, that there was no proof of them being ordered and they knew nothing about the status but they would order them again. This went on for an additional 4 phone calls and 6 weeks until we were finally told we could come in to exchange the lenses. Supposedly there was some mix-up with the staff but I don't care. No one would take ownership and just get me the correct lenses. As a customer I should never be required to call multiple times to clear up an error that was made. read more

Update I just received a call today from them and I was told that they were very sorry about everything and that they were working on the website to update the changes. They asked me about how they could improve and that really impressed me. As a customer I really appreciate a company who will take the time to improve and listen to their clients to make their experience a better one. Any company can give you a bad experience, it's how they handle it that makes a good one. Older review I was just told that they called and left a message on Friday that they were done. I'll give them the the benefit of doubt. I still wish they had Saturday time and or posted that Sunday was for appointment only on their website. I'm extremely unhappy with this company. I was promised that I would have glasses done same day by the person that answered the phone, this was Wednesday. Once I bought my glasses I was told that they would be done on Thursday afternoon. No one answered the phone Thursday, Friday and they are closed on Saturday ( inconvenient). Then I called again on Sunday and again no one answered so drive up because there hours say the are open from 8 to 1 when I get here at 1030 they have a sign on the door that says appointment only. And no one is here. I will never advise anyone to come here their service is horrible. I hate being lied to and ignored after a company takes my money. read more

Dr Stern is so rude. He lacks people skills. He is very unprofessional ie: playing guitar while the opticians are working to pick my eyewear making it hard to understand and hear the girls I am working with. The office is filthy. Arizona Eye Care is horrible. First went to get a new pair of prescription lenses that had antiglare on them and they gave them to me without the antiglare. I took them back and had them put the correct lenses I paid for in them. Weeks later I finally got them. Next time I went in I was told I needed a new prescription so was given contacts to use while I waited for my glasses to get back with the same new prescription. As I used the contacts I began to notice how off the prescription was. I couldn't make out anything sharp and everything was blurry and had a strange halo around reflective of bright signs. I was very dizzy after waring them for any duration of time and also night driving was horrible. Needless to say I went back and asked to be reexamined for my prescription. I was told the prescription was fine and it must just be I needed a more expensive contact lens and contacts weren't precise but my glasses would be good. So they talked me into paying an additional $50 for "better contacts". Same problem. Also, the glasses I got in from them were very off and I strained my eyes same as with contacts. To make matters worse they broke one of the pairs of glasses I sent to get the new lenses and I pointed it out to them. I was told, "well thats weird there is no way we could have broken them or the company we get our lenses though". She then tries to send me out with them saying they would still work fine. My 400 dollar glasses broken was "fine". Now curious with the actual care of my prescription in general I checked to see if they even had the antiglare I ordered. Once again, no antiglare. I brought this too to her attention and was told, "well I can see the antiglare so it's definitely in there". To prove my point I took a picture with my phone of my old glasses they had fixed with the antiglare and the new ones. Obviously, it was very clear there was a difference and no antiglare. I was then told, "well it must be a different KIND of anti glare". If you like horrible customer service, not getting what you pay for, and people not interested in your vision Arizona Eye Care is the place to go. read more

Everything takes forever and I've had issues with them getting my glasses before (they said the order never went through) and I'm currently waiting for glasses I ordered weeks ago. I also am not a fan of other people putting my contacts in for me, I'm an adult and can manage to do it on my own considering I've been wearing them for the past 5 years. read more

Dr. Stern & his staff are really good. My mother & I have been seeing him over a year. We've gotten our eye exam & glasses from him. My mother has had an eye infection. Dr. Stern has put in eye plugs & contacts & has prescribed multiple eye antibiotics. He has been very thorough with my mother. If he wasn't, I'm sure her eye sight would have been damaged. I'm glad we found his office & would highly recommend him. read more
