I was a long time customer to a different coffee joint and found the quality was dropping steadily and quickly. I decided I should give Better Buzz a try. I should have made the switch much much MUCH earlier. The quality, taste and overall satisfaction of their coffees and drinks are amazing! But, what makes this location even more amazing? The employees! These are the friendliest, most happy, kind and genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I used to work client facing and understand the importance of a good smile, small conversation and memory of my clients. They do all this and more. If I could give ten stars? I would. *Ordered through Door Dash* The Horchata Latte was very sweet, thin horchata (not creamy), and the coffee flavor was minimal. I wouldn't order it again as it was reminiscent of a home goods candle. The Matcha with Orange Blossom was heavy on the orange blossom. The matcha wasn't there in flavor and that's coming from a non matcha lover. We got it with coconut milk, very light. I wouldn't order this again, but if possible I'd get the orange blossom in a latte because it was good! I'm not a Better Buzz fan because their coffee tends to be very sweet, I mentioned this to my brother and told him if he orders again he should get 1/4 or 1/8 sweetness! It was good but leans more towards the sweet side. I'd recommend getting it slightly less sweet or half sweet. It has a strong coconut flavor which overpowers the matcha. If you are looking for a fun summer drink this would definitely hit the spot. If you are looking for a matcha forward drink, you may be disappointed when you taste little to no matcha. I got here pretty late in the day. It was late afternoon so I totally understand the staff might be tired due to it being the end of the day. She seemed to be friends with the barista as they were very chatty which is totally fine, but then it was my turn to order and the barista saw me waiting and continued the conversation with their friend. Better buzz is probably my favorite consistent coffee shop in SD and it's about time they got one in La Mesa. I've been several times for the coffee (best drink ever, the churro drink, and snickerdoodle). I love that the coffee flavor is smooth and well rounded with enough caffeine and depth that the flavoring of the drink doesn't overwhelm the coffee. The only downside to this place is location. The drive through is always backed up onto the street so it's a nightmare trying to get in and out of parking lot and parking spots. I love better buzz because of all the sandwich options and they are all so good and the staff is really friendly, it was calm and relaxing.

If I'm ever in a rush this is my go to spot for drinks, they're normally pretty fast and the matcha is pretty good. It was better when they offered peppermint matcha's but sadly they're only seasonal. The food is alright, nothing crazy. Service is good and attentive.
