Stayed at the Hyatt Palais in Nice during a recent trip to the South of France. It's a beautiful,…read moreextremely clean property right on the water, though overall it feels more like a strong 4-star experience than a luxury 5-star. Pros: Room size: Very spacious room and bathroom for Europe! Staff: Super friendly, warm, and attentive. Fitness Center: The gym is modern, sleek, and well-maintained. Dining: solid on-site restaurant options. Cons / Areas for Improvement: Housekeeping hiccups: They don't inform you at check-in that you must hang the door tag for room service, so our room went uncleaned the first day. When we asked for replacement towels late that evening, one of the washcloths brought up was dingy/unusable. Another day, a fresh washcloth had a visible stain; I called guest services to replace it urgently before a dinner reservation, but no one ever showed up (shoutout to my friend who saved the day with a spare from her room!). Facilities: The toilet nook lacks adequate ventilation, and the pool area is small with minimal seating--plan to claim a spot early or just stick to the oceanfront. Overall, it's a solid location in Nice with great potential, and I'd consider staying here again!

I walked through each floor to view the different collections of art pieces. I was stopped when I was browsing and an employee asked if I needed any help. I said I was told that I could view each floor. I told her my room number and she said this is not the 4th floor, I said I was told that I can walk and view each floor. Then she apologized. I had breakfast with my reservation and it was good however due to my jet lagged missed my first day and one day went in at 1015 and by 1030 they were cleaning and removing the buffet. On my last day, I planned a spa day which I enjoyed. I had a 60 minutes massage and 60 minutes facial. For $420 it was worth it. You need to visit this iconic property and make your own decision. I loved my experience except for the employee telling me that I was not on the 4th floor!

The location is on the East Side of the old part of town, which means you're right on the beach and have the best views of Nice. The room service and hotel food was excellent. Our room had a patio overlooking the Med and I cannot overstate how wonderful this made our experience. There is a rooftop with a hot tub and a pool with restaurant service, but we spent most of our time on the beach which is across the street. There was not a single other hotel I would have chosen in Nice for location or overall experience. Very highly recommended. Also, I know this review is a little gushing, but I created a Yelp account (normally I read I dont post) solely to show my appreciation for this hotel. It was great.

The room had a lot of character, almost like getting a prime location with Airbnb but better because you have clean towels and 24 hour staff. The room had a king size bed and a twin bed. We didn't book a suite or anything so we were surprised on how spacious and luxurious the room was. We had two restrooms too! Speaking of staff, the employees were all so friendly and more importantly, accommodating. Our flight from Rome to Nice got cancelled and we were worried about paying for a night when we weren't there on top of cancelation fees. We called the hotel and they changed our booking from 2 nights to one night and waived the cancellation fee. Who does that??? Staff answered all of our questions and reassured us every step of the way. The customer service is superb, I don't even know why French people have a reputation for being rude. It's totally not the case, at least with the staff here. The breakfast was amaze balls. I wish I had photos of the food but I was busy eating it all up. The fruit was fresh and not canned. The croissants were freshly baked. It was flaky and buttery heaven! The baguettes came out piping hot and you can cut it yourself on a board. The coffee machine made like 8 kinds of espresso, cappuccino, and lattes. I had the white cappuccino and it was foamy, milky, and strong. Much better quality than Starbucks. The experience made me feel like I was staying at a five star hotel. I wish our flight wasn't canceled so we could have enjoyed our stay longer. When traveling to Nice, make sure to book this Best Western. It was about 60 euros a night in November!! What a deal!

If you are planning to stay here, I'd highly recommend taking a taxi from the airport (~35 euro) or packing light. The hike up the hill with luggage can be a challenge, even if you're in decent shape. Service at the hotel is 4.5 stars. Phillippe is awesome and has great recommendations for dinner. He's friendly and welcoming. I would give him 5 stars. I would've rated the hotel higher, but it is a bit of a trek to the touristy spots. In addition, the walls are thin, so you can hear everything that goes on in the room next door. Our neighbors were definitely having a lot of "fun" on our last night. Even though I knocked on their wall several times, I wasn't able to stop their late night fun. We thought our room included the breakfast buffet, unfortunately it didn't and we had a 16 euro/pp/day charge. It wasn't that we minded the charge, but the food was definitely not worth the 16 euro/day. There weren't that many choices at breakfast. The hotel provides free wifi access, although it is spotty. It is also limited to two sign-ons per room. If you have a lot of wifi devices, you'll find yourself trying to figure out which device you want to connect to the wifi. There are some other creative ways you can get online, but I'm sure other yelp reviewers are smart enough to figure it out. :) If I visited Nice again, I would probably pay the extra $ and stay at the Hotel Negresco. I do recommend this hotel if you have a rental car. Nice is car friendly and this particular hotel is located in a residential area, so there is plenty of free street parking.
