The bath tub is a so dirty. It Oklahoma Dead bugs in the shears at the window. The pool was filled with debris & dead bugs. Leaves on the bottom of the pool. There was a broken umbrella at one of the tables. They had us check into a room behind a trailer. There were mattresses lying on the ground in front of our door. They did give us another room. We came back to a half cleaned room. They did not make one of the beds. It was just like we left it. There is a major upgrade going on. Which is nice. Worst hotel I've stayed in. The first room they gave us was 85 degrees because the HVAC wasn't working. The next room was a handicap room that was filthy dirty. The heater was covered in dirt and the baseboard heater in the bathroom was broken. The shower was disgusting. The floor was so dirty my husband had to wash the bottom of his slippers before putting them in the suitcase. The sheets on one bed looked clean, but not the other bed. When we checked out the girl at the front was on her phone texting and barely looked up. We told her how bad the room was and she just said she'd let them know. read more

This was my number one dirtiest hotel room experience, ever. I have never left a place without staying in it, but this was so bad, I didn't feel comfortable staying there with my young daughters. We left after about 45 minutes, after we arrived from a 7 hour drive and ate our very delayed dinner. They refused to give us a refund because we'd already been in the room "for an hour". The lady in the office downplayed the dirtiness on the phone with her manager, saying only the trash looked unmaintained to her. My overview of the experience - The bedding didn't look clean, the couch had scuzz on it, the trash wasn't changed, the sink was literally dirty and the floor was clearly not vacuumed. And last but not least, the TV was not working. I am a house cleaner who does Airbnb and household cleaning, I KNOW when a place is dirty. I actually told my children not to sit on the couch in this room because I was unsure what the white stains were. ALSO, upon checking out, I was waiting in my car just outside the office, so I could see clearly inside through the double doors, the lady at the front desk was having some kind of altercation with another woman and that woman, upon exiting the office, screamed "Fuck you" at my vehicle (with my children inside!). It was a horrible experience and we will be following up for a refund. Really awful. read more

Nice people, but the place is in dire need of cleaning/upgrading. I had a handicapped room ... tub drain was locked open, took two days to get fixed; never got a requested wake-up call; sparse breakfast offerings; limited wifi; no refill station for water bottles; rusted baseboards (heating?); very loud window a/c; room smelled musty (likely dirty filter in a/c); last morning I pulled sheet back further than normal to find a long, black hair!! So, had I been sleeping in someone else's bed linens for several nights? Worst BW experience ever. read more

I've stayed at so many Best Westerns and had amazing experiences. Not this one, I was equally disgusted and disappointed by what they consider acceptable. The first room they put us in hadn't been cleaned, no big deal just shuffle us to another room that had been. The next room had been "cleaned" however the room smelled like body odor, there was food smeared on the curtains, something stuck to the ceiling, the couch was stained and what I believe was the culprit of the body odor smell. I noticed a stain on the bed and when I pulled back the sheets it looked like someone had maybe had an accident on the bed but there were so many stains I can't imagine what they were all from. At this point we walked out and went back to the front desk employee. We showed pictures to the attendant who agreed that the room was disgusting, when we simply asked for a refund as we would not be staying, he stated he was unable to refund our money. He directed us to call tomorrow and speak with Jackie. We'll see how it goes with the refund but we weren't comfortable staying. I'm considering calling the Best Western headquarters. This is not the typical standard of the chain. read more

I'll preface this by saying that we stayed in February of 2021 during Covid restrictions so we didn't use any facilities except the room. The pluses of this property were definitely the location as we were in area for skiing and it was 49 minutes from Mount Snow and a minute or two from downtown Bennington restaurants. Pricing was also very competitive for the area. My wife checked in and said the woman at front desk was very friendly and welcoming. Why the 3 star review? Hotel definitely needs some updating of decor and fixtures. Tub while clean, was old and showing wear. The thermostat on wall isn't functional and when we called the desk, they instructed us to use the remote to control what appeared to be an AC but also generated heat. Room was 50 on arrival so it took time to warm up. We may have missed the briefing on the heat at check in but perhaps a sign in the room would be helpful and bump the heat above 60 prior to guests arrival. Bathroom had a hole in the wall which happens but it looked like it had been there for a bit. Once we got the room warm, the remainder of the stay was fine. Tiled floors weren't the most cozy but made sense with outdoor entry in ski country. I would definitely consider staying here again and overall it was clean with comfy bed. read more

This is a homeless half way house. I noticed most guests looked unkempt and curiously asked a few where they were traveling from. Imagine my shock when at least 6 answered that the state of Vermont pays this best western a discounted price for them to live there! Here I am paying full price for a run down room with homeless drug users as my neighbors. I don't know when best western started this program but I will not stay at a best western again! read more

A nice clean and quiet place to stay. I had to come to town after a parents death and needed a place to stay in short notice. Steve was very accommodating finding me a room. Kayla and Monica were understanding when I had to cut my stay short without penalization and I was thankful to the young ladies for their compassion. The only downside is if you need food the only places around are pizza places. I would recommend Best Western if you need a place to stay while in southern Vermont. read more

For the price not worth it. My first room still had hair (including pubic hair) in the bathroom--and they claim to be taking extra measures during COVID. Yeah right. I also witnessed two housekeepers smoking while cleaning non-smoking rooms. My biggest complaint though is this: for a period of at least an hour, there was no one at the front desk...during prime check out time! I called the front desk seven times between 10-11am, and then went down to speak to someone after no response. I rang the little bell a million times, but no one came out from the back office. There was no sign up about where to find someone or how to get in touch. Another woman came in behind me and needed help as well--she claimed she had paid $30 extra online for breakfast, but they weren't serving an elaborate breakfast cause of COVID, just take out bags with fruit, etc. I had two other people mention to me in the parking lot they couldn't locate anyone either. I left a note at the front desk, and then I finally tracked down a housekeeper who called the person on duty. It turns out it was the manager/supervisor manning the desk, and I guess she just skipped out on work for a bit!? I never got a response from her or an apology, and she never called my room like I asked. When I spoke to an employee/night attendant at the front desk that evening, I got a lot of excuses and was talked over. She said they viewed the camera and "only saw me and one other person in the lobby". What the hell? Even if there was only two of us in there at the time of me writing the note, that doesn't mean other people haven't tried to call or come in looking for assistance. That isn't an excuse to just leave, whatever the reason. I understand budgets are tight with COVID and staff has had to be laid off, but if someone is unable to be there for a while, a number and a sign should be posted, at the very least. On my second night, prices were $86, nearly $30 less than what I was paying, online. I asked if I could get that rate and they refused to honor it or let me book on the internet because I was "already in the room from the night before". With the exception of the woman who checked me in when I arrived on August 29 (I wish I got her name, but it was around 7pm), no one seemed to want to do their job--the manager, the housekeepers smoking and not cleaning rooms properly, the night attendant rudely talking over me. All could have been fixed (or at least dialed down a few notches), if I had been treated differently after not being able to reach anyone. But the hubris was disgusting and I ended up reporting it to the corporate offices who have initiated a case to look into my complaints. I hope this manager gets it together! read more

We arrived tired and stressed, the staff made us welcome. Clean, comfortable room, the bed was good, wifi was good, no complaints there. The wall heater was very loud, but we were so exhausted we didn't really care! Close to Walmart and food options, so that was a relief. We stayed here in a pinch when other accommodations in the area didn't work out. We were thankful for a clean room with a soft cozy bed. The room was a good temperature for sleeping and the linens and pillows were clean and comfortable. The room darkening curtains made it possible to catch up on a little lost sleep. The front desk service was friendly and helpful. We didn't eat breakfast there but had a coffee which wasn't bad. read more

We were charged more for a handicap room with a roll in shower which is a no/no as per the ADA. However, we accepted that because we were able to find a room. Upon entering the room we realized it wasn't a handicap room and called the front desk. They said they saw the notes on our reservation but gave the room to another guest. Due to this and both my husband and I having mobility issues we weren't even able to shower, the only grab bars was on the far wall inside the tub and nothing more. We stopped at the front desk the next morning and spoke to the 2 staff people there, one staying in a chair holding a baby behind the desk and the other came in from smoking in her vehicle and explained to her how to adjust the rate, because they agreed they would give us a 15% discount because of this. When my husband checked out he got a print out which said we paid the higher amount but also on the print out was the cheaper daily rate. We called the hotel when we realized the full amount was pending out of our account and told to call back if it posts. It posted the next day and we called back. We were then told to call after 3pm and speak with the Front Desk Manager who then told me I needed to deal with the General Manager Travis Mears and to do that email him. I emailed him that day, Tuesday, 11/28, waited 3 days with no response and emailed again on Friday, 12/1. He emailed me back later that day he was out of the office and would look into it on Monday, 12/4. Tuesday, 12/5 I emailed again looking for a resolution and nothing. I emailed again today, 12/8 and nothing. Apparently this GM is ignoring us, however, it is totally wrong to charge someone for a Handicap Room and then doesn't adjust the price when they didn't get it. read more

The rooms are well kept , larger than most, and very clean. We stay here a couple of times a year and the staff is very accommodating and friendly. Any issues that pop up are addressed quickly. Great location and reasonable prices keep us coming back. Standard breakfast fare is included. One item to note is that they need replace the dryers in their laundry. read more

Nice, but noisy. Bennington is a beautiful town, but it's right smack on the border with New York, so there are LOTS of joyriders buzzing through the town at 2am in the morning enjoying what is apparently a very sparse Vermont police presence. Motorcycles, pickup trucks with loud exhausts, import racers -- you name it, it's probably going to wake you up several times in the middle of the night. The hotel was very nice, with beautiful bathrooms and beds, a great price, speedy internet, and a nice peaceful appearance, but the constant noise almost ruined the stay. read more

Great stop for the night. Came through on the bikes and need to stop and take off our boots. Clean room, clean bathroom, and a strong AC. Did not try out the pool. Staff was very attentive and pleasant. Above average breakfast included. We left full for a long ride West. This was my first times staying at this particular Best Western...... And it was a superb experience, the staff was so accommodating , the rooms were immaculate, the pool was well kept and the area around it well maintained. My son and I loved this place so much we booked an extra night!!!!! Great experience and an all around pleasure. The breakfast everyday was fresh and quite large, including eggs, sausage, make ur own waffles.... Cereals, yogurt, fruit....... Peaceful and awesome !!!!! read more

If you are looking for a place close to major highways, have plenty of modern amenities, reasonably priced, and a fabulous breakfast that can feed an army that is akin to my family, then the Best Western NEMI is the inn for you. About the owners: My sis realized that she forgot her diamond earrings in the room and called the inn to ask if they found it. They certainly did, and mailed it back to her as we were too far from VT to go back and pick it up. Excellent motel with one weird charge. I've stayed here 4 times and find it clean, well maintained, and I've never had noise issues of the other review. I do have an issue with charging extra for a safe. Bennington is a low crime town, not like inner DC or inner Boston, why charge for a safe? More money for the hotel owners. You don't have to pay but you do have to remember to remove the annoyance charge when you leave. Lame. read more

Good cheap hotel very clean rooms and wonderful service. I did not have the trouble with joyriders passing through the town but the road out front is a busy road and not your typical Vermont county dirt road. The rooms had an amazing sized tv with2 beds and a pull out couch which was comfortable by the way. The breakfast was another nice part about the stay as it was free. And came with the room cost. The only bad thing about this place is the parking lot was not salted or plowed real nicely so careful in the hard winter months cause it was slippery. The other bad thing was the heat did not work as the room failed to reach 70 by the time we left the next morning. read more

We were looking for a place to stay overnight, without much time on either end of our stay. The reservation was made quite easily through Kayak app on my smart phone. The front desk staff were friendly at both check in and check out. The room was clean and cozy, and the shades did a good job of keeping out light in the morning. The water pressure in the shower was good. There was a microwave and fridge, which I really appreciate. A pool is present, though it was closed for the season, so we didn't get to check it out. We got a call a few hours after checking out - housekeeping found the retainer my daughter accidentally left. They offered to send it to us by mail, as we had already left the area, and it arrived at my home today. I would stay there again if in the area. Nice place at a reasonable price. read more

The rooms are big and very clean and nicely decorated and the grounds and pool are well maintained. The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our exceptional needs. The room had Wifi and a larger than usual TV and refrigerator, as well as a microwave, and the beds were comfortable. Can't say enough about the size of the room, but not many inns I have stayed at could have fit all the baby gear we had with us and still allow us additional space. I did not find it noisy at all and found the price very reasonable. read more
