The rooms are dated, could use a new comforter. Built in air conditioning units. Shower curtains were leopard, which made me laugh a bit. Free wifi. Felt safe. Clean. Easy parking. Beds were comfy and clean. Desk in the room. TV. Easy access to route 7. Lots near by - food and coffee etc. Overall, Max - you made everything wonderful and I'm telling my friends.

I like that its NOT like every other cookie cutter hotel chain. Staff is courteous and friendly. There is a small hiking trail up the mountain behind the hotel. It was not perfect, but 4 of us stayed comfortably and we easily could have hosted 4 others although maybe less comfortably. Check-in and service we received were great. We called twice before coming, one call was better (a middle aged male I think) and one was less than optimistic (younger female) but the person did seem to warn us that they would try to get is to our unit by the 4pm check in time. Honestly, I don't fault someone setting expectations correctly so I didn't hold this against them-I prefer truth and by being a little concerned maybe that made me pleasantly surprised when they were prepared to let us in before 4pm (but we did arrive later than we would have had the lady not warned us). Also noteworthy - every conversation we had with guest services were very pleasant and there was ALWAYS someone or multiple people at the desk. This was in early to mid May just to give you context. The unit itself was well appointed if a little tired in some places (couch was a bit dated as were some of the dinning room chairs) but the kitch and baths seemed good, save low water pressure and hot water taking a bit to come up as someone else mentioned. Heating unit was good, never tried the A/C. All the locks, cable/TV, stoves, etc. worked flawlessly (minus a crack in a carafe that must have been there prior to our arrival), we were even able to hook up a streaming stick in one of the units (not the other because of the model of the TV) which helped us enjoy the unit a lot in the evenings. The Pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic. The temp of the Jacuzzi was warm-like it should be-so I do recommend either getting out as advised after 20-30 mins or going into the pool to cool off a bit before going back. I'm sure the timing of our visit was key but our party used the facilities several times before anyone else were using them-I wouldn't expect this but we tried to go at dinner time to have some time to ourselves and we got lucky every time...and that worked well as we are late eaters. The location we are use to because we have stayed down the road at the now closed Bentley Brook (which we loved) and love the location of the resort in Hancock. Due note, for almost anything you have a 15-30 minute drive to Pittsfield, Williamstown, etc. on the East Side of the mountain the place is nesteld or Stephenstown and New Lebanon to the West/Southwest. We have stayed in the Berkshires a lot over the years and really like this quiet area. We tend to take road trips on nice weather days and have been virtually every direction in a circe about 1.5 hours. Other than the obvious close towns of Williamstown, North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox and New Lebanon (which has a few close decent/good restauants) we recommend day trips to Albany, Great Barrington, Bennington VT and Hudson/Catskill NY. Saratoga and Lake George are a little farther and would require a long day but are doable from there if you are ambitious. Def would stay here again in a few years...but we have been to the Berkshires in most seasons and are good on it now for a bit. Hope this helps someone make the decision.

The not-so-good: The swimming pool outside was closed days before it wss advertised. We purposely booked the resort because they had an outdoor pool. One particular concierge was a bit abrupt with both my wife and I, didn't really seem to want to help us and acted like we were bothering her. The rest of the staff were very accomodating. Wanted to stay and extra night but she made us register through a VRBO site instead of just taking our credit card at the desk. No one reserved our room so it was available. She disappeared in the back to talk to her supervisor for about 20 minutes. I finally just cancelled and went somewhere else. Another incident was on the first day after arrival. My wife and I, along with about 10 other guests came to attend a seminar in the morning about things to do in the Berkshires. This after we also received a text reminder about the seminar the night before. No one showed up to host the seminar and finally another staff member told all of us the person hosting the seminar didnt make it to work. Disappointing. Great resort but a little added customer service training is probably necessary.

Location, location, location…read more.. That is about all this place had going for it. Located right between Zoar Outdoor rafting and zip lining it was super convenient to stay here for 1 night. Sadly, this place was a bit pricey for what you were getting. There is no breakfast included it is strictly lodging. There is tea and coffee though in the main living room. There is also a mini fridge and microwave should you choose to bring anything small. There are three bedrooms located downstairs I assume with their own bathrooms, though I am unsure because there is a bathroom downstairs that has two doors - one is accessible through the bedroom and one through the living room. There are three additional bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom to share. We stayed in the Millers room upstairs which had a queen bed with a small love-seat and a cot in the closet. There were fans and towels in the room. There were not much window coverings so the morning light would surely wake you up. The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were quite flat. Obviously, this place is a bit old and feels like your grandmother's house most likely. Wallpaper, flowery decor etc. I just can't give this place more stars because it only has the convenience going for it. There were some bugs and the wallpaper was peeling. It didn't feel the cleanest, but I know the linens were at least washed. The manager was very friendly as well. Overall this place felt more like $60 and not $90. I'm not sure if I would stay here again. If you're going to stay here, there's no traditional check in. At the side entrance on the porch there is a sign with your name and the room you're staying in. You let yourself in the house and find your room. All the doors are clearly labeled with their name. The key to lock your door is already in the door knob. ****CAUTION: make sure your key locks and unlocks your door before you shut it! We locked and closed our door taking our key out, but when we returned our key wouldn't unlock the door. Even though it fit in the keyhole, it wouldn't turn and unlock it. We were able to get in touch with the manager via a walkie-talkie hanging on a billboard in front of the Zoar retail shop. He helped us obtain the correct key. Breakfast: We drove about 15 minutes to Shelburne Falls and ate at Foxtown Diner. It is a bit overpriced, but it was really good and worth the drive. The town is also cute and makes for a nice walk.

I recently stayed a few nights at The Morgan State House Inn and had a mostly pleasant stay…read more I thought I was staying in their main house, but they actually had my room a couple doors down in some studios that are apparently also part of the inn. Not a big deal, but I don't know that this is something you'll really know until check-in. The building a few doors down where I stayed also appeared to be historic though a bit less grand on the main level than the main house. The lobby of the building was festively decorated for the holiday. With the bright windows, a sofa, Christmas music playing, and a tree twinkling, one afternoon I couldn't resist getting a little work done in the lobby. My room was cozy with a small kitchenette, bed, arm chairs, and desk. The arm chairs are cute but not very comfortable. The desk was perfectly positioned overlooking the windows, which made for a great spot to work. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and probably needs to be replaced (it was sinking on both sides with a high spot in the middle). For my solo traveling girlies: +The inn is not staffed all night +Doors have old fashioned keys, deadbolts, and chains +The surrounding neighborhood seems nice and safe enough +Parking is slightly off site and requires walking around the block or through the back of the property. If you don't need to bring a car, I'd opt for uber +I think there may be some permanent residents in the additional property (a couple doors down from the main house) All and all, it's a beautiful, historic property, which is one of my favorite sorts to stay in. I wouldn't likely stay there again solo, but would absolutely stay with my partner!

The main one being that I was unable to enjoy the tub as much as I would have liked. The first night the jets didn't work, and someone was nice enough to come by the next day and fix it. Later that night I was looking forward to finally using the tub as intended (and even cancelled a spa day for it) but the other guests had already used all of the hot water by then. I left without getting much of any enjoyment from the tub, which is the main reason I booked the room in the first place. The other issue was the parking situation, which, to be fair, I should have anticipated before booking, considering its location. The parking spot doesn't come with the room, so you must pay extra to access it, and finding it in the dark after dinner is not easy when you have to follow a paper map and there is a line of cars behind you. Walking back to the inn alone in the dark was also pretty unsettling. Overall, this experience was the opposite of relaxing. I will say that the property is very pretty, though, and seemed to be clean.

While a typical motel and even hotels might not consider being accommodating to this aspect, this motel wants to stay at the top quality and rank wise and they really get it. Because of the area they are in and the competition with Maple Terrace, they want to stay competitive but they really seem to enjoy managing a motel here too. The staffer was telling me how this motel is #1 in the area and bragged about the breakfast. Maple Terrace seems very comparable with here but I get the sense they offer more food here. Seems like you can't go wrong by with either is my impression. If you've never been here before, you should start here for the fresh fruit offered if nothing else. The pool here is out of commission at the time of this review. I don't know where it is and I asked. I think the guy was trying to tell me it was being cleaned or needed a lot of work. This continental breakfast is one of the best in the area. I definitely ended on this place because it is still reasonably priced by today's standards and you get a lot for your money. You can tell a lot of care was put into everything and you aren't just another number. I wanted to take one of every fruit because it would guarantee I would eat healthy for a bit more but so felt embarrassed even though I probably could. The night before, they let me have two bottles of water and a sugar free apple juice and then gave me two more water bottles. With the weather and traveling, I would not turn down free water.
