Stopped by for a quick snack/drink after "free day" at the Mass MOCA and it's was just what I was in the mood for. My and my BF shared a soba noodle salad and nuts/olives and it was SO GOOD. Sat by the fire and killed and hour before the drive back. Not a fan of the extra LOW FURNITURE but maybe it's just me. Just had to get in/out of and it's starting to show its age. Clever designer pieces but not really practical for service. Great service and food quality but space could use a refresh. Will definitely return for a snack or maybe book a room this spring. I've stayed here twice and enjoyed it immensely the food is great. The drinks are great. The rooms are nice, but make sure you read the small print - it's expensive and apparently they do not refund if you have to cancel. I just had to cancel a weekend stay two weeks from now, and got no refund so lost $890. I'm a Professor of Hospitality and I have never seen a hotel, anywhere, not give a refund with that much notice. Not great and sad because I will never book here again read more

This review is long overdue! We came in from LA and absolutely loved our stay at Tourists. The hotel has a friendly staff, the common area has a bar and a large, communal fireplace. Our room was modern, clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable and we couldn't hear any neighbors in the room. We love the area it is in, with great restaurants and family activities through the hotel and around town. Highly recommend Tourists for your next trip! read more

Our Daughters wedding was held here on Saturday. We all arrived Thursday to enjoy a 3.5 day weekend. What an incredible place. The grounds were beautiful, awesome hanging bridge, heated outdoor pool, outdoor decks, trails, fire pits, and individual decks and chairs outside each room. The lodge common space was so warm and open. The staff from the front end to grounds to servers were excellent. Now for the wedding rehearsal and wedding the staff did an outstanding job? ! Erete( hope I'm close) and Craig( that too?) food service coordinator and wedding planner were great! Everything from rehearsal to wedding was well planned and executed! The displays, tables and presentation were beautiful. Now the food! Excellent!!!! The rehearsal kabobs, salad, sauces, pita, hummus , corn. All amazing! Wedding dinner again amazing! The short ribs, chicken, sides, desserts! We left reception before late night food came out but we heard again great job and we missed out however I'm not sure we could eat another bite! Morning breakfast the muffins and pastry was warm and also excellent! Thank you for making our experience memorable! We would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a wedding, celebration event at Tourists. read more

We heard about this place and for a lovely Fall leaves and hiking trip, stopped in for drinks and nibbles. We were met with the rudest Australian waitress who was snarky and impatient with the four of us while taking our order . Mage served us with a sour face and to add insult to injury, the bill had a 20 percent service fee (which is high in top of high prices) for food and drinks) automatically included. Clearly no incentive for her to even try to be nice to us as given that pricing policy. Suggest more wait staff training and reconsideration of that fixed percentage. We would not recommend the place as everywhere else we went was great with great people . Spend your money elsewhere . read more

Our stay at the Tourists was spectacular. We loved the design and the features of the buildings, the bunk beds in our room were a big hit with our children and the curated 'Tourists Radio' piped into our rooms made us feel like we had a cool DJ MCing our stay with classy, mellow, and inspired songs. The pool was cool. The hiking trails with incredible arts installations and a suspension bridge made for relaxing morning and evening walks as well as musical adventures. The hotel's restaurant was not open for dinner during our stay (Th-Sat) but we thought the snacks and breakfast we ordered was divine. The last night of our stay we were serenaded by Clem Snide in a private performance. So many elements of Tourists are thoughtful and creative. Throughout my stay I was in a mellow space - but my wife and I really enjoyed spending time out on our deck in the evening sipping one of the cocktails served by the staff. The staff, let me just say, top notch. Great folks who made us feel at home. Tourists is a great bit of happiness which we look forward to returning! read more

Stayed here recently for a Williams College reunion and it was one of our favorite hotel experiences EVER. The design is minimalist (Japanese meets Scandinavian?) yet totally comfortable and charming. The serene rooms have decks that overlook a peaceful woods and have an outdoor shower if weather permits. The lounge is inviting, the pool is beautiful, the food is excellent, the cocktails are superb... The owners even built a suspension bridge over the river behind the hotel and created trails for walking. The beds are so comfy we asked for the brand of mattress and bought one when we got home! Can't wait to go back. read more

I came here during COVID, so many common spaces weren't open. I would love to go back and hang out in the lodge. But, even with that - I had a DELIGHTFUL time during my stay there. First, kudos to the staff for working their buns off. A lot of folks spent a lot of time out by the fire pits and the staff were amazing in all weather conditions. I honestly don't know how they do it, so to any staff reading this: THANK YOU. I appreciate you. There is so much thoughtfulness that went into the design here. I had some of the most restful nights here - the beds are ridiculously comfortable and it's so quiet at night. Not gonna lie, I was trying to figure out if I could sneak the whole bedroom set out without being noticed. The heated floors were such a luxury, and heated the room without having a constantly loud and blowing HVAC system and also a way to pre-heat out jackets and gloves. The food was pretty good, too, and I had a decent sampling of it all. The highlights were the spinach artichoke dip and the breakfast croque madam. The only things I wish were different about my visit were: -more hooks to hang towels on (we were 2 adults and 1 child in the room, so shower towels, wash cloths, hand towels, and robes were competing for the 4 hooks) -there was more of a surface to eat on in the rooms (although I wonder how many people eat in their room when there isn't COVID?) read more

I only came here once for less then 45 minutes. (Wasting waiting on a massmoca event). Short time here but I enjoyed myself. I felt extremely relaxed drinking coffee and having a snack in their main quarters. I was traveling with my youngins and they were very happy looking through pictures in books and sitting in all their different tactile chairs - pretending to be older than they are. We later explored their grounds and found a comfortable path to explore and walked across a wobbly bridge. That was fun. Probably will not use their hotel service but we did enjoy their large cookie so the food must be really good. (I hear too:) read more

Hipster reincarnation of a classic strip motel with a tastefully minimalist, Scandi aesthetic (= loads of white + blonde wood). Nice, ski-lodge like lounge with big open fire. Nice setting with easy walking trails over babbling brook, giant interactive wind chime sculpture in a glade etc etc We called up to stay the night mid-winter while visiting Mass Moca and only the more expensive rooms ($250+) were available. It took a bit of begging ("wouldn't you rather have an empty room booked than no booking?") To extract an offer of a "gallery" room for $150/night plus tax, total $164. Checking Expedia revealed at least 3 rooms at that rate, so I'm really not sure why the friendly staffer was initially gonna let me hang up and head for the Holiday Inn. As the Brooklyn Yelper said, tasteful touches abound - eg artfully cut corners of handmade soaps point to a sustainable, minimal wastage vibe. Some minor things to watch: 1. Rooms have a chic reading lamp on one side of the bed only, which is apparently intentional. This is one of the very few tone deaf moments. Ask for a loaner or you can kind of rig up the supplied outdoor lantern 2. It's not in town, but 3 miles down the road. An über trip for sure read more

Came off the AT to meet my partner here for one night's R&R, and life was nice enough as an Esteemed Guest. Next morning, I provisioned up at the grocery store, fetched my backpack & and was marching back to the AT when (Magellan that I am) realized I didn't know exactly where I'd left the Trail. From the sidewalk, I hailed a passing Tourists employee in my best "Miss May I" voice. Simply by strapping on a pack & stepping 10 feet off the premises, however, I had apparently been demoted from Esteemed Guest to Shiftless Vagabond, as she flatly refused to spare me the 6 seconds needed to point left, snarling instead that she was "at work". Funny what a simple change of costume will do, for one's standing in the world. For hikers, you might think well on this little parable, before giving your money to an entity that apparently seeks to profit from the AT vibe, without living the AT spirit. For Tourist the entity, you might consider instructing yr staff concerning the term 'hospitality industry'... read more

I recently stayed at Tourists with one of my gal pals. We had a great visit. The pool was my favorite part while the relaxing fire pit was hers. We checked in right at 3pm and didn't need to leave the until checkout the next day. The property had every amenity we needed. I live locally and even though my apartment is 10 minutes away, I felt like I was in a completely different place. I would absolutely come stay here again for a relaxing getaway with or without out of town guests. read more

A modern place targeting the wealthy and the hipster crowd. Enjoyed the stay but would not return except for a very special occasion. Pros: . Beautiful room . Cozy lodge with wood stove. Night I was there, was filled with hipster couples hanging out and starting to get affectionate. On second night, a Monday, it was a very chill crowd and quite homey. . Friendly and hip staff. Cons: . *Really* expensive for what you get, and I've stayed at a lot of places for business and leisure . No coffee in-the-room, fitness center/guest pass or mini fridge in the room, which I feel are standard at this high price point . Not mentioned on the web site that pets are allowed in all rooms (I'm allergic to dogs and cats). Found pet fur on the sheets. . Next to train tracks. At night and very early, you will hear the blaring horns of a cargo train and its many compartments rumbling by . No decaf tea or coffee available when I went to the lodge in the morning read more

A wonderful new hotel just over the North Adams border from Williamstown. The rooms are creatively styled and extremely comfortable. Design hotels can sometimes try to cover for tiny spaces. That's not the case here, where the rooms are spacious. The design is original -- a kind of post-woodsy modern -- but thoughtful and not overdone. The large lobby room has lots of comfortable nooks for sitting and doubles as bar and restaurant in a nice way. Extra star for the superb breakfasts and coffee, neither a given in the area. Dinner choices are fewer but good -- as are the custom cocktails. Highly recommended all around. read more

The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful as they made it happen for me. Really great customer service, and I've only heard amazing things about the beauty of the facility itself. The staff is SUPER NICE BUT here is what you get for over 300 dollars per night: No room service (no cleaning or change of towels - if you want your trash to be cleaned you have to take it out yourself). I understand is a State regulation but then why am I still paying for this service? Or over 300$ per night is adjusted after cleaning? In which case is still stupid; Breakfast order to be provided the night before (you have to commit to what you are going to eat the morning after) although menu is very small; Limited accommodations due to Covid - both the rooms next to ours were booked (?!); 2 slots of 2 hs in the pool - if it rains you are screwed as you just loose your slot. I have requested many times to be added to the waiting list for extra time in any slot available at any time of the day and never got it; Very limited restaurant options in the area (hotel restaurant not available); Limited (and overpriced) snack menu available; Covered lodge: unavailable; Private deck: nothing private about it (pic for reference). In few words: 3 nights, over 1 grand to make my own bed in a dirty room. read more

I'd second everything others have written, a great hotel that looks a little like upscale Ikea! Lots of exposed wood, really good design, and lots of technology behind the scene. Every room has an Apple TV so you can stream what you want. High speed WiFi for free. Charger for your Tesla in the parking lot. Great location, with the Appalachian Trail going a 1/4 mile from the hotel. Mass MoCA is a 5 minute drive away and an incredible experience! Skiing is 20 minutes away. Great lodge-like room (where I'm writing this) with huge fireplace, really good coffee (free), and small but delicious menu. We've stayed here twice now. The only small downside, and it's gong to sound weird, but in both rooms we've stayed the bathroom door doesn't quite latch shut. The place has been open less than a year and I'm sure they can fix it. Anyway, still worth five stars for everything this place offers, like a really interesting urban hotel had a rural cousin in the berkshires. read more

What a great place! From the welcoming smile, the coastal cookies (3$) , and the view I can't wait to return! The room was terrific with a full size reading nook overlooking a river, smart shades, camp lights and folding chairs to take down to the riverfront docks. A beautiful walkway and suspension bridge was a sweet place for a brisk Christmas Eve morning walk in the new fallen snow . A special shout out to Andy who seemed to do every job there! He was really helpful with the heavy door, opening wine and being friendly and helpful in any way he could. We'll be back soon! read more

This is a review of their restaurant and bar, not of the hotel. Interior design is absolutely the best feature of the place. Bar room is spacious, very comfortable, with nice corners and deep sofas to curl up in and read, or talk quietly with your companions. It is mostly empty and thus not very noisy, which is nice. We ordered cappuccino, wine, coffee at the bar (you cannot order otherwise) and were shocked to find that a glass of wine is $18, a cappuccino $5, and that you are immediately charged for the tip as well. The quality was mediocre (wine) to poor (cappuccino). For the amount of money we spent there, we could have had a nice meal in any of the many places in Williamstown or North Adams, except for Mezze which is expensive, but not without justification. It delivers quality food and drinks and it doesn't force you to tip a specific percentage. I would say that whoever designed Tourists had a great idea, but the execution is poor. I don't think that the place will survive for long in this area. read more

Open just a month, Tourists sits on the road between Williamstown and North Adams (home of Mass MOCA) and backs onto acres of land that abut the Appalachian Trail -- land that the owners have purchased and created trails in, built a hanging bridge, and have even more plans for in the future. It's probably the most hipster place on earth -- all wood, attention to detail, luxurious bedding, handmade soaps, a view of the woods, with a heated salt water pool, a big vaulted wooden room that serves as bar and hotel reception, good cocktails, delicious coffee and baked goods, and wait until you see the room bar (three kinds of bourbon, chocolate, vodka, gin, granola, health bars..) Superbly friendly and informative staff, a nice dinner served outside on the deck in good weather, and a restaurant on the way (give them time). When they let me take my perfect old-fashioned back to my room, along with a homemade salted chocolate chip cookie, well, you didn't think I was going to complain, did you? p.s. let me say that I live in Brooklyn and have zero affiliation with this hotel -- apart from planning to go back soon. p.p.s. dogs welcome. read more

It was such a pleasure to stay at this place, even in single digit weather in February. Maybe especially at this time. It was so cozy and welcoming. We could have stayed hanging out in the lodge with the great Spotify list and fire and books and coffee and tea cake and friendly staff all day. And the rooms! Everything was perfect. So minimalist and beautifully designed. Waking up to see the snow, trees and the gorgeous lines of the building itself - it was such an aesthetically pleasing experience all around. All the touches - I can't say enough good about it. (If I could suggest one thing? Put little hooks on the headboard to hang the little USB lanterns as reading lights.) If we get the chance to come back in summer, we will, but I have a feeling this is going to be a regular winter getaway for us. Thank you for making such a beautiful experience.
