What a great surprise to see a vast array of tiles from my home country, Spain! Huge assortment of colors, styles and shapes. Loved it. Went with my colleague to take a look out of curiosity and not believing they will carry real tiles from the Mediterranean coast of Valencia, Spain. And they do! I found the prices surprisingly cheap as compared to even what you get in Spain! Also huge variety in Italian tiles, great discovery. The store/warehouse is very clean and organize and we were invited to browse all we wanted even if I told the owner that I was not there to by anything for now, just to take a look and admire the beauty of clean tiles. After searching aimlessly for a place to buy our kitchen cabinet replacements, my contractor recommended that I should have went to Best Tile in San Francisco, but since the location was out of my way, I decided to search online to see if they had other stores around the area. A little searching surely goes a long way!! To my surprise, I discovered that they had a Santa Clara store just a few miles from my home. Even my contractor was unaware of the location. So we both went to their warehouse. Once you step inside, I swear, you'll be browsing there for hours looking at the variety of materials they have. Your mind will be in complete aura just thinking of the many possibilities one can put together when renovating their outdated home. Skies the limit with the various combinations one can think about. If you have a chance, I recommend working with Wilson. I call him "The Kid"! He is very patient and polite and will work with you in determining the proper sized cabinets according to your layout. He saw our chicken scratch drawing and redrew it out for us along with the types of cabinets needed for that space. He'll number them out and then create an inventory list along with the pricing. I also call him "The Kid" because he's pretty lightning fast with the 10-key. Also, they will work with the parent company in San Francisco in case the item is not in stock at their Santa Clara warehouse. Buyer beware. To sum up what the store manager said to me: You can expect all of their tiles to have some damage/defect. If you manage to get pieces without any, those pieces are lucky. Inspect your product! First time I bought from Best Tile, I picked up 4 pieces of glass mosaic. The girl working there helped me and it was a concise transaction. I always check my product before delivery and these came out fine. They would've gotten 4 stars. I had to go back to pick up 4 more pieces today to have the same section redone. Upon inspection, I kept finding obvious chips, scratches, glass pieces that didn't get polished, and defective color backing. The 2 staff members there were helpful up to a point. Out of 10 sheets, 3 did not have damage. After the 10th sheet, the manager stepped in. Instead of figuring out how to make a customer happy, the manager tried to convince me to take one of the damaged sheets. He insisted no one looks at accent tile... (Does this make sense to anyone else?) I asked him clearly if his intent was to not bring out any more and he says yes. Since I was cutting the sheets into 3rds, I also asked if he would discount one sheet for the damaged 3rd and he says no. (This is a cost of about $4.75 to maintain a repeat customer.) He also insisted on not calling those damaged tiles damaged. So I explain to him that I've now given him 2 possible ways to make a paid 2nd time customer happy, but all he has done is try to convince me to take damaged product and that would cause me to write the review I'm now writing. This is when he got ornery. After raising his voice at me, he says he will cancel the purchase and attempts to snatch the good sheets that I've chosen from my hands. Then there was name calling as I walked out, accepting at least 1 damaged sheet. As a last resort, Best Tile is an option. Just FYI, if I were shopping for a house that maybe you were trying to sell, I notice damaged tiles. read more

OMFG, tons of selections of tiles, stone, and fixtures. Their showroom is not great with displays like PORCELANOSA. They might not have a crazy, custom assortment of italian this and thats, but it's plenty to choose from., you just have to use your imagination. I got some mosaic tile here, also a bathroom vanity and a TOTO toilet. Prices are competitive, and way BETTER than others with better showrooms and bigger overheads. Loved this shop, the selection of tiles, the way they have displayed it (wall and floor together) and the friendly store manager - Ben and another lady who helps. I must've gone there 15 times before finally choosing what i want and surveyed other stores as well. I ended up choosing all my tiles, floor, and bathroom's fittings, tub from them, They gave us lot of help, were very patient and involved. The glass mosaic also needed help, and all staff came to assist us and give their opinion when i asked them to. My bathrooms have turned out very well, and i give lot of credit to my choice and selection from here. My two kids under 4, were noisy and messy, but the staff was always helpful and made us feel comfortable. My tiles, forsets and other items are sturdy and doing well. i will definitely recommend this store and especially after lot of research. read more

We stumbled upon this place while we were dropping one of our cars at 4B auto repair and decided to stop and see what kind of inventory they carried. This place is a huge warehouse, but the entrance isn't along the street, so we would've assumed that the place was closed if it hadn't been for the sign that listed their store hours. They don't have that many examples displayed, but we were happy with the types of tile they carried. They allowed us to buy 4 sample tiles to bring home, and we got refunded 100% if we brought them back within 30 days. We ended up choosing a porcelain tile to redo our kitchen and dining room floors, and were happy that the tile was cheaper than what we had anticipated. This place is Chinese-owned, so there was a bit of a language barrier when we asked one of the workers for some tiling advice. But other than that, it was pretty smooth-sailing. We purchased the amount of tile that we needed for our remodeling, got the receipt, and gave it to our tiling contractor to pick up. The tiles used all seem to be in really good shape, which I double-checked on because one of the reviewers warned that the tiles he received were slightly chipped. Anyway, I'd recommend this place for tile if you know what you're looking for and don't need to see too many floor displays for help. read more

This is a large warehouse and on the outside at the back of the property there was more space with more stacked up materials. I was recommended the Best Tile store in San Francisco and when I googled the name I learned of this location in Santa Clara. Since I live in San Jose, I visited this place. I've already been to showrooms, Lowe's and Home Depot to get ideas on tiles for my bathroom remodel. There was enough selections here displayed, for the shower walls, shower pan/floor and bathroom floor, that I got everything here after spending about 1.5 hours looking. The help I received was sufficient. I don't want a hard sell nor do I want uninformed assistance. There was a comment posted that this place is Chinese owned so there was a language problem. I don't see how one necessarily leads to the other. The young lady that helped me spoke perfect English. There were some chips on some of the tiles (on the same corner on 5 of the tiles) and I brought them back the next day and got them exchanged with no problems. This place has tiles from Spain and Italy and with a large variety of designs. They also have tiles that are not square, but rectangular - the wall tiles I decided on are 8x19. I don't understand about the other comment about this place not having that many selections; they have the most selections of any place I've been to to date, and with a range of designs. They have other items to complete a home remodel, but I think their focus is tiles. read more

Let me start off by saying I've been to more than a few places such as this looking for pre-fabricated granite vanity tops. So when I say Best Tile has higher quality granite vanity tops then the other places, it's because I compared the look, materials, and features of granite, quartz, marble, and travertine, vanity tops. So far I've purchased (2) Granite vanity tops from Best Tile. These tops are 1 inch thick, very nicely polished, and also have the beveled edge around the under-mount sink hole (see pics). Best tile carries all manner of building materials, cabinets, complete vanities, vanity tops, granite panels, man made marble panels, building supplies, plumbing supplies, tools like crescent wrenches, pipe wrenches, p-traps, and other under-sink plumbing items, porcelain vanity tops, porcelain sinks (round, oval and rectangular), the list goes on and on. Brand new location a block east of 101 freeway & Montague Expressway. This is an offshoot of the original Best Tile in San Francisco. If you're thinking of doing a home or kitchen re-model, you might at least want to pay this place a visit to see their wide selection of materials and colors. The entrance is on the rear left of the buidling. Huge warehouse style setup which carries a wide selection of stainless steel sinks, chrome shower stalls, plumbing hardware, re-modeling tools and materials. The front left portion is dedicated to displaying their entire repertoire of marble, natural stone, granite and porcelain tile products. Most of them imported from Italy. There are also all kinds of glass mosaics to choose from. Their selection is fit for any modest to fancy home projects. Prices are very reasonable too. Beware, they do charge for samples, which are returnable for a refund minus 25% (ouch !) restocking fee within 30 days. However, the full amount can be applied to your final purchase if you do decide to buy from them. Other tile places would gladly give you the samples for free as part of establishing customer relations. The same applies to previously purchased material, but they must be un-opened and unused. I guess this is a way to deter the customer from making the wrong buying decision and make some $$ at the same time. I spoke to two staff on the floor regarding the options available for my project. Both gave conflicting answers. I can tell when one speaks from knowledge or experience, but I smell BS in this case. So I left. This place has potential if they become more polished in their customer service skills. read more

Short summary: horrible business practices. Avoid working with them. Made the mistake of ordering mosaic tile here. The tile came in cardboard boxes which were almost falling apart. Upon inspection, turned out that the tiles were defective - all chipped along the edges, completely misaligned on the mesh, making them practically unusable. Trying to return resulted in me being charged 25% restocking fee (!) as if it was some kind of jewelry. My arguments that I'm returning defective goods didn't take any effect. We bought a lot of stuff from Best Tile while remodeling our current house this year and our last house several years ago. For tiles, they have large selection, good quality and reasonable prices. They also have a lot of vanities and counter tops. Our current house, we bought tiles for the entry/hallway, kitchen back splash, bathroom counter top/sink/vanity/shower wall, towel bars, grout, etc. Our last house, we bought tiles for the kitchen/bathroom floor, bathroom counter top/sink/shower wall, etc. Ben (I think he is the manager) and the staff (don't remember their names) are all very helpful. Usually there is always someone at the entrance to greet you unless they are super busy and all helping customers. If you just want to look around, they will check on you once a while to see if you have questions or want help. But they never pressure you or follow you around not giving you time to look. They are pleasant and patient. We have been there probably a dozen times for the recent remodel of our current house. We went there the first few times just to look and get ideas and eventually we started buying lots of stuff as the remodeling progressed. There wasn't one time we were there that we feel we didn't get the help we wanted. They always open the boxes and show you all the stuff you are buying. We exchanged and returned some items with no issues. There were no problem with the stuff we bought. We returned some unused tiles (always buy a little extra just in case), a couple sinks that we didn't like once we brought them home, a towel bar that we didn't think was long enough, etc. There were never any hassle. There is a restocking fee if you want a refund (common at many places we bought from) but we are such regulars there that they didn't even charge us the restocking fee. read more

I was able to get nice Italian and Spanish tiles for a good price when I remodeled my bathroom. Yes folks, am staying away from the cheap Chinese tiles that you can buy from some big box stores or another outfit in Hayward. I was surprised that the prices were competitive to that of the Chinese tiles. The selection is not huge but good and current - yup you wont see Aunt Mary's bathroom glossy floral tiles from 1985 - think creeping grape vines, roses, lilies, autumn leaves..... I also picked up an all white vanity and sink combo for a pretty decent price, am happy that its not particle board and resin like those at Lowes or HD but wood+mdf and porcelain. Ask for Vincent or Connie, both are extremely patient and pleasant to work with. I must have spent at least 5 hrs in total over 2 Saturdays selecting and ordering my tiles. Just don't expect additional discounts no matter how much you compliment them etc, ;-) Their Santa Clara location is closed on Sunday but if you are willing to drive, the SF location is open till 4pm. Best Tile is a really great place for your kitchen and bath projects. I went to many places for bathroom remodel parts, but these guys were the best to work with. Ben really helped us out because we had planned to buy a vanity at another place, but they stopped returning our calls then basically told us they could not get it about 2 weeks before construction began. Luckily, I visited Best Tile and found the same vanity components and they put it all together in 1 week! Then, as construction got underway, it was found that the components I bought would not fit in the space as the walls were not even. Ben got me one cabinet in the next size down (12 inches instead of 15) in just 2 days and even allowed me to exchange the one I originally bought. Many places just want to sell you the stuff and then give you hassles when you run into the inevitable problems during your construction, but Ben and Best Tile really helped work with me when these changes required a different cabinet. In the midst of a time-stressed project like a bathroom, it is great to work with a company that understands and helps you out to the best of their ability! Oh, and their prices are better than every other place I checked as well! If you are doing a bath or kitchen remodel, I suggest you buy as many of the components as possible from Best Tile. read more

We recently did a half bath addition and came to Best Tile looking for sink/vanity, floor tile, and backsplash tile for our project. We found the cutest, perfect sized floating sink/vanity for our project. Since our space is very narrow, we had to find a narrow width and depth sink. A very nice young Asian woman helped us pick coordinating floor tile and glass mosaic tile. We were disappointed that the matching vanity cabinet to our floating sink was not in stock in the color black we wanted like the one on display. They only had the gray color in stock and they would have to order the black one that ships from China. The salesman tried to convince us to buy the gray one. They were unsure when it would arrive and of course we have our project timeline to worry about since we already scheduled the work. So I had the idea to buy the black one on display. I asked for a discount but they wouldn't give one to me. We had to buy it anyways since it was the only one that we could take home that day. Other than that, their selection of tile and bathroom sink vanities is impressive. If we had a bigger bathroom, there would be many more options but because we were very limited to what size our sink could be, we only had that one sink/vanity that would work. I was excited to learn that there was a Best Tile location in my area because I always embark on their SF location every time we drive down the 101 and am amazed by the size of their warehouse as well as the magnitude of their slab yard. The Santa Clara location is also an impressive size but appropriate for the location and not as ginormous as the SF one. When I walked in, I expected tons of tiles (check), granite slabs (check), and building materials (check). I was disappointed to find that most of the tile was porcelain and ceramic but was interested to see they had some designer patterns that are more unique but at a cost of $4.00 and up. I'd rather purchase natural stone at that price point. They have a small selection of wood and about 15% of their tile are of natural stone. I was also disappointed that they don't give breaks to wholesalers or contractors and that they sell everything at the same price to anyone since I have a reseller's license. They probably have 3 pallets of clearance items that were really cheap and decent looking ($0.99/sqft. for 16x16 porcelalin tile). However, most of the brands seemed imported from China and I'm quite sure they markup a good margin from my own international purchasing and importing experience. I agree with XX, definitely worth a stop but be 100% sure of what you're getting from there. read more

Good thing is that we check the condition of the glass tile before we put on the car. There are lots of chipped or damaged paint in one box. They happily helped us check every tile. They have a large selection and good prices. Service has been about on-par for a warehouse-type store. CHECK YOUR STONE before paying. We originally picked out some white marble tiles, and discovered some of them had weird marks. Closer inspection showed they all had some discoloration around the edges due to water damage (the boxes the tile came in had obviously been soaking wet at some time). They said the whole batch was like that so we had to pick a different type of tile. We got a different type of light-colored marble which looked better. After installation, the edges seem very slightly yellowed as well, but we couldn't tell without laying them edge-to-edge (which we didn't do at the store). I would recommend doing that for light-colored stone to make sure there's no subtle edge discoloration that will be visible on your surface. We got a good price on this item, but I wish we paid more at some other store for this item. We got a glass sink here and a marble countertop here that look great and were very inexpensive. Many of the marble backsplashes were cracked (had to look through 4 to find a non-cracked one), so be sure to check this before accepting the product, and always transport the marble firmly secured in a vertical orientation. We got some porcelain and glass tile here which has been good so far and has had none of the problems of the marble. We will definitely go back for future projects, but will be super picky about checking all natural stone. read more

We had a fine experience buying tile (wall and floor), vanity, granite top, sink faucets and grout from this store. Thanks for the advice to check the granite top. We took the second one. The sales person opened each one for our inspection without even having to be asked. We had no problem returning unopened grout or exchanging a soap dish with a crack in it. There were so many tiles to choose from even though we were only considering those on clearance. It was about .89 sq/ft. Our bathroom looks great. read more

Wow! I have never written a review on yelp until today. What a horrible business they are running here. My family and I are house flippers new to the area. Looked up a few tile stores and unfortunately ended up at this one. We initially bought about $700 worth of tile. Boxes were damaged and a few of the tiles were mismatched after we examined them. Took them back and politely explained our issue. The manager who initially presented himself as an owner seemed a bit annoyed but proceeded to give us a refund. "Oh yeah you're still going to have to pay the 25% restocking fee!" Really!? That's over $150 and we returned it within two days of purchase. Apparently they charge a restocking fee no matter what. Meaning if you have an excess of material you're stuck with it. I have never had this experience in all my days flipping homes. If you buy from these people good luck to you! I certainly will never be coming back. By charging me $170 you just lost thousands of dollars in sales. Smart business model read more

Had a great experience at Best Tile. Bought tiles for 2 bathrooms from this store - excellent quality at very reasonable prices. Great selections too and everything is in stock. If you fall short, you don't have to wait for days, as is the case with special order stores. Most stores in San Jose/Santa Clara didn't stock their material, and I didn't feel comfortable purchasing from them. We purchased Italian tiles that were relatively cheaper compared to Bullnose Tile. Also employees here are salaried, and not pushy. They are awesome with customer service too. We dealt with Kevin and he was very knowledgeable. This place does not know the meaning of customer service! I noticed that other reviewers rated this place even though they did not buy anything. I spent over $600 on tile, grout, thinset etc for a tile job. I had 2 buckets of thin set that I could not use so I tried to return them. (totally good, never opened) They refused to take the stuff back. We're talking about a $37 return and I would have spent more there as I have more remodeling to do. But they won't get another penny of my money. read more
