I'd already tried to get the leak patched, but it had not worked, so we were ready to start fresh with a new roof. I assumed we would get estimates for torch down, which is pretty standard for very low slope roofs, but I wanted the roofers to tell me what type of roof they thought would be best. Most told me torch down. I had been reading about TPO roofs and I was curious to see if many roofers knew how to do them. Before Barcenas, about 6 other roofers came over to quote. Only 3 produced a written quote, and only 1 sounded like they felt confident about doing TPO. Anyhow, I was pretty annoyed by the whole process, as it was sucking up a lot of my time, by the time Barcenas Roofing came over. I had unenthusiastlly picked a different roofer by that time so I was ready to just go with that, but since Jesus at Barcenas had been texting (my preferred method of communication by far) I figured I might as well meet up with one last company - kinda to be polite, truth be told. But before long, I felt something was different about these guys. They made me feel like they were going to do whatever it took to get the job, even if that included aspects that were not roofing, which really meant something to me. They were solution oriented as to the bigger picture, not strictly the 500 sq ft roof. They were fully engaged. Their bid was for TPO and it included removing and rebuilding an awning that I wanted to become part of the roof. The 2 guys who bid the job (owner & supervisor) also personally worked the job even though they had a large crew. They had such a great work ethic. They came on time, early in the morning and many of them stayed late into the evening. They got 95% of the entire roof, the awning tear down and rebuild, and other repairs like bad plywood and facia fixing, done in ONE DAY! I have nothing bad to say. They did a nice job, provided a total solution, for a great price, and they did it super fast. 5-stars.

I was in search of a roofing contractor for a few weeks and it was a stressful process, given it's a big ticket item for home improvement project. Fortunately, I received a recommendation from a trusted friend who also happens to be an architect. He owns two properties in The Bronx and hired All State Home Improvement for both jobs. This was 15 years ago and he still kept his business card handy. I contacted the company owner, Segundo, and received a call back the same day to schedule a site visit and preliminary assessment of the project. Segundo spent about an hour on the property and listened to what I wanted to do. He gave me several pricing options low, moderate, and higher-end that varied based on the quality of materials and other considerations. One thing that stood out about Segundo is his honesty about what needs to be addressed in project vs those items that were not a priority. For example, I was planning to replace 5 windows in my attic that would have cost thousands but he convinced me that it was unnecessary, saving me a significant amount of money. Their level of professional integrity was the main reason for choosing them for this investment. This massive job was completed in about 5 days, working from dawn to dusk each day. When they wrapped up the job, Segundo walked me around the property for a full inspection and explained every detail of the project. During final clean-up, the crew removed all debris from the premises, including any leftover wood, nails and staples. My neighbors were in absolute shock with how thorough they were with the work and clean-up...it's like they were never there. I have received dozens of compliments about my roof, and some neighbors expressed interest in using All State Home Improvement for their own homes. I would recommend this company 10x over, you won't regret it!

Every contractor who came before seemed to patch a different area, but the problems always came back eventually. Goldenberg Roofing BK broke the cycle. After inspecting the roof, they showed us several areas where water had been ponding for a long time and explained how the existing drainage layout was contributing to the deterioration. The project involved a full tear-off, new flat roofing system, updated flashing, and improvements around the drains. The crew worked efficiently, kept the roof organized throughout the project, and provided updates along the way. We've been through several major storms since completion and the roof has performed exactly as hoped.

The next day I inspected the attic thinking that maybe the solar panels installed two years ago may be the cause. To my surprise and relief the cause was a missing plastic cover that was on the roofs powered exhaust vent. It had blown off during Fridays storm. Luckily my tenant had stored the cover but did know what it was. The vent with the cover on looks like a mushroom. On Sunday, I used Angie 's list to located a Staten Island roofer since my Brooklyn guy had not yet called back and I didn't want to risk another rain storm. The first contractor that called was already talking about replacing the exhaust vent at about $1600 for the job I cut him short since I only wanted a cover replaced. I said this is not looking good . Good bye. About 5 minutes later Marke calls me I got lucky, real lucky in finding a guy that did not try to cheat me. I told him all that was needed was to replace the cover. I texted him the photos of the cover. He stated that he could possibly fix the cover once he takes a look at it. It may be hard to find a replacement. At 10am he arrived at the house with his father. (Once he said that was his father, I knew I had the right guy) He inspected the roof and confirmed he could do a decent repair. He showed me pics of the roof vent. No need to change it. He used metal strips and screws to attach the cover. Then he placed ice/water shield and adhered it to the cover. He took pics again after the repair. The price was very reasonable The honesty was superb The time arrangement could not have been better. I paid cash and he later emailed me an invoice as I had requested. He is a good man who works with his father and since he did not steer me wrong, I decided to give him an excellent review!! I hope you call him if you ever do need a reliable and honest roofer. By the way, my Brooklyn roofer did call me back and confirmed that he would have done the same.

We had been chasing the same leak in our Gramercy building for years. Different contractors…read morerepaired different sections of the roof, applied coatings, replaced flashing, and each time we were told the problem was solved. It never was. When NY Roofing Manhattan came out, they approached the issue differently. Instead of focusing only on the visible leak, they evaluated the entire roof system and identified several contributing factors, including drainage problems and deteriorated waterproofing around portions of the parapet wall. The repairs were more extensive than what had been done previously, but the explanation made sense and gave us confidence that we were finally addressing the actual cause rather than the symptoms. Throughout the project they kept us updated with photos and took the time to answer every question we had. It's now been through an entire season of heavy rain and, for the first time in years, the leak has not returned. Looking back, I wish we had found them sooner because it probably would have saved us a lot of money and frustration.

The access alone was a challenge and most contractors we spoke to either wanted to drag everything through the building interior or couldn't figure out the logistics at all. NY Roofing Manhattan came in and immediately had a plan. They brought in a crane to remove the terrace furniture and heavy planters before work started, and used it to bring all the roofing material directly to the rear roof without touching the inside of the building. That alone told us we were dealing with a professional operation. The crew completed the entire project in three days, which honestly surprised us given the complexity of the access situation. They replaced the roof system, handled all the waterproofing details properly, and when they were done they put everything back together better than they found it. The terrace looked great and the work was clean from start to finish. We haven't had a single leak since and for the first time in years we're not dreading a heavy rainstorm. If you're in Manhattan dealing with a rooftop terrace, rear roof access issues, or any kind of flat roof waterproofing problem on a walk-up or mid-rise building, NY Roofing Manhattan knows how to handle the job the right way. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

I am not one to usually leave negative reviews, let alone ANY reviews, but my experience with this company left me no choice but to leave one. I have a bulkhead up on my roof and, prior to calling this roofer, I went up myself to inspect it. There was absolutely no visible damage. I reached out to them simply to get a quote for general roof maintenance and to add a layer of silver coating. However, the quote I received back included multiple "areas of repair" and alleged damage that was supposedly extensive and required immediate attention. The issue? This "damage" was non-existent before their visit. James, the person who came to do the inspection, performed both a drone and physical inspection. After his visit, I was shocked to see that several areas he claimed needed repair looked tampered with. I did not have before photos to prove my point, but based on my own prior inspection, I am confident that these so-called problem areas were not there beforehand. It truly feels as though damage was created during the inspection in an attempt to upsell unnecessary work. This is not only unethical but incredibly disappointing. I called for an honest maintenance quote, not to be manipulated into paying for repairs I didn't need. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to make sure you take detailed photos of your roof before any inspection or quote. My experience has completely eroded my trust in their honesty and professionalism. Save yourself the extra cost and go with someone else.
