    Holes in slate

Mark is truly the consummate pro. Reached out to him about additional leak in the area he patched up earlier in November. He stopped by while I was away and repaired and replaced the slate without taking another dime from me. What a guy! Can't recommend him enough.

I had some work done on the exterior of my house over the summer and one of the workers pointed out a big ole rip on the pitch of my slate roof along with cracks on some of the slates. Originally I was going to have one of the guys "fix" it but of course I wanted to know the general process of repairing slate roofs and I soon realized it is a specialty field and not anyone can or should be repairing slate roofs. So I went on yelp and found Mark and called him for an estimate. He basically showed up the next day and took pictures of the parts of the roof that needed repairs. He told me what needed to get done and how much it would cost-- which was was reasonable and I'd much rather go with the guy with 30 plus years slate roof experience-- so I went with Mark. He showed up on time and as he told me- would be a one day job. As the work was being done, of course more roof issues came to light and Mark gave me a discount on the job and did a few things for free. He is honest, thorough and he definitely takes pride in his work--I'm so glad to have found him because we all know 100+ years old slate roofs will need to be repaired ever so often... and guess who I'll call-- Mark!

    ## **Detailed Review of Royal Renovators (Experience from ~2023) **…read more My experience with Royal Renovators in 2023 was extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and ultimately costly. I normally don't leave reviews, but the level of incompetence and deception I encountered deserves to be shared so others can avoid the same situation. ### **1. Repeated Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Charges** We originally contacted Royal Renovators because our roof was leaking. They came out twice and still couldn't identify the source of the problem. Each visit came with new explanations and new charges, none of which made sense in hindsight. Eventually, they claimed they had finally found the issue and charged us approximately **$4,800** for the repair. We trusted their assessment and paid, hoping the leak would finally be resolved. ### **2. Leak Still Present -- and More Confusion** The next time it rained, the leak was still there. Same spot, same issue. When we called them back, they used a drone to inspect the roof but still couldn't figure out what was wrong. Their uncertainty was alarming. We ended up using **our own drone**, and we were the ones who actually located the problem area. When we pointed it out to them, they insisted the leak was coming from the chimney area -- which was completely incorrect. At that point, it was obvious they were guessing, not diagnosing. ### **3. The Skylight Disaster** While they were assessing the roof leak, we made the mistake of agreeing to have a skylight installed at the same time. That turned out to be another huge error. The skylight they installed looks like a **DIY project**, not professional work. It has a **constant draft**, and when the weather gets cold, the draft is unbearable. It's clear they had no idea what they were doing, and the workmanship reflects that. Instead of adding value to our home, the skylight became another problem we had to live with. ### **4. Lack of Professionalism and Skill** Between the misdiagnosed leak, the sloppy skylight installation, and the inconsistent explanations, it became clear that the workers and foremen lacked the knowledge and professionalism expected from a roofing company. Their priority seemed to be collecting payments, not fixing the actual issues. ### **5. A Competent Company Fixed Everything** We finally decided to get a second opinion and found **2BQ Roofing**. The difference was immediate. They assessed the roof and instantly identified the real issue -- something Royal Renovators failed to do after multiple visits and thousands of dollars. 2BQ Roofing fixed the problem correctly, and here we are **three years later with not a single drop of water**. That alone speaks volumes. ### **6. Final Thoughts** I would never recommend Royal Renovators to anyone. Their service was unprofessional, their workers were incompetent, and their repeated misdiagnoses cost us time, stress, and money. The skylight installation was just the final confirmation that they were not capable of doing the job. If you're looking for a roofing company that actually knows what they're doing, skip Royal Renovators entirely. Our experience with them was a complete waste, and the only real solution came from hiring a different company.

We hired Ramon / Rivera Construction for a bathroom renovation and interior painting project and…read morewould not recommend working with him. There were ongoing issues with both workmanship and execution. A tub faucet was installed in a shower, paint coverage was uneven and inconsistent, and multiple areas were left in the wrong color despite being told everything was complete. At times, a different, lower-quality white paint than what we had purchased was used. During the project, multiple glass windows were broken and plexiglass was installed in a historic bay window instead of properly replacing it with the materials we purchased. A tile floor had to be removed and redone after being installed without regard to the pattern, and we had to intervene to prevent a countertop from being cut in the wrong location. A significant amount of materials we purchased for the project, including tile, paint, and three ceiling light fixtures, were not returned or accounted for. When we attempted to reconcile materials, we were unable to get clear or consistent answers. Materials (we purchased) were also requested well in advance of when they were actually needed, and the materials used on site often did not match what we had purchased for the project. This, combined with the lack of clear accounting, raised concerns about how materials were being handled across jobs. Overall, the experience lacked attention to detail, transparency, and accountability, and we would not work with him again.

We've had a lot of rain recently and I can confirm all leaks have been fixed. What really stood out was how responsive they were. We had a separate leak pop up later on, and they came back right away to fix it. Great attention to detail, super fast responses and just really easy to work with. Definitely recommend!
