I bought a TV and paid for service to have it delivered and installed by Geek Squad. They sent me a bunch of text messages to have my work done on my end. The appointment was set for 7:30-10:30 am, and no one showed up. I tried to call, and you have to actually go to the store to talk to a human. I finally got ahold of a human at least, and she sent an email to them. I have been waiating all morning to take a shower so I would not be in the shower when they came. I tend to have a good experience here because I've been here multiple times and the service is always good, but today was the first time it was inadequate. Everybody tends to be knowledgeable, and they always treat me with respect and give me everything I need and give me the benefit of the doubt. I guess the old saying is true when someone gets a good experience, they tell one person and when they have a bad experience they tell 10 people. I don't know if I shouldn't be trying to get technology in the middle of the day but there definitely wasn't anyone helping out anywhere. I was standing around in the Apple iPads for about 10 minutes, and that's what I was looking to buy. But I just couldn't find anyone that was free and sadly I ran out of time so I ended up having to leave. Generally, I don't need people to offer me help but when I want to buy something, that's when I do. But I'm never disrespectful. Just continue to browse and say I'm fine. I get it maybe someone saw me and thought I didn't want to purchase anything but I did... Oh well. I'll just order it off of Amazon. Other than this one experience, though everything tends to be really good here. Complete SCAMMERS!!!!! Geek Squad lied to me advising my laptop was beyond repair and the only resolution was to get a new one. I then advised I needed the new laptop to also have the capability to run two additional monitors. Not only did the laptop they sold me not have the capability to handle that without an additional adaptor, the adaptor they sold me did not work to run to additional monitors. So much time wasted!!!! After all of this, I had a separate IT person look at my old laptop and he was able to fix the issue. This updated review is long overdue. In Jan of 2020, I replaced a dishwasher and oven. Throughout the process I connected with Danny McKim who was the manager of the appliances dept. Danny is "the guy" who knows products very well and gets to "yes" for sales. Then repeat sales. At some point internal changes were made and Danny moved into a sales role that allows him to assist customers in their homes or businesses. Looking over my purchase history since meeting and working with Danny, my bigger ticket purchases have been consolidated exclusively with Best Buy. Not just kitchen appliances- TV's, a new wi-fi system and most recently a projector. Why? Because I trust him to be fair and make good recommendations. Because I know he will fix a problem if one occurs. And, because he's a really nice guy and good person. I'm also a fan of their 'Totaltech' program too. It's saved us money & time. I'm not a fan of the new modus operandi of being asked why you're there or what you need when you walk in the door. But, I understand that Best Buy, like all other retail stores had to make staffing adjustments if they were to survive during the pandemic. I think it's just their way to trying to get their customers the appropriate assistance. In a nutshell, I've become a Best Buy fan again after a decade of indifference. For bigger ticket purchases, I sincerely recommend working with Danny. He listens, and makes the overall purchase easy, informative and enjoyable all while providing great service. read more

I have always been a fan of Best Buy in the past, but those days are over. We went into Best Buy to purchase a 65 inch Smart TV. At the door we were teamed up with an associate, and walked together back to the TV's. I know that masks are required, but the associate's voice was way too quiet to understand most of the time. Undaunted, we pressed on and selected an X800 4K Sony for around $1,000. We noticed special 24 month no interest financing and 10% cash back when using their Visa - sounded like a win to us. We moved on to check out and applied for the card. Trying to follow the associate's directions that became more and more confusing after adding the plexiglas screen to the mask muffling his voice. Needless to say, an error was made on two questions (one on rewards and one on the delivery date). He called in another associate and after having to reenter all the ID date a number of times we were notified that that had to cancel and refund the transaction. So we started over again. Then were told that because of the cancellation and refund we would then have to wait until we received our new credit cards (could be a couple of weeks) to receive the special financing and cash back, or pay with another form of payment. Frustrated, we used another card. Then notified by text that the delivery date would be different from what we agreed on. Now seriously frustrated, we left. So because of the inept associate we didn't get our special financing or what would have amounted to around $200! Nope, don't see us returning in the future. Their loss. read more

I asked why sense I just drove an hour to pick it up. The guy told me probably because the TV was out of stock. I saw a washer and dryer set advertised on the store's website and visited the store with the intention of purchasing to replace those I purchased 26 years prior. I was in the appliance department for approximately 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching to offer assistance. Toward the front of the department there was a huddle of 3 or 4 young men talking and laughing. They looked up and saw me 3 or 4 times but nobody left the group to ask if I needed help. I'm wondering why these young men are even on the store's payroll when it's apparent they're not there to work but to socialize. I'll be sure to spread the word that "customer service" is not practiced at this store. Upon my departure from the store, there were 3-4 girls gathered by the door. One girl turned from the group to say "have a good day" to which I replied, "I would've purchased a washer and dryer today; but, couldn't get anyone to help me. Now I'm going to Home Depot to buy them". Does anyone actually work at this store? Upon leaving the store, I noticed potential customers roaming around, some appeared to be seeking help like I was previously. I also observed employees behind counters just leaning on them in a zombie-like state, not actively attempting to assist anyone with a sale or to answer questions. I visited Best Buy In order to utilize their Geek Squad Services. I booked a reservation time on my way to the store, which I highly recommend because they had several people scheduled and waiting on a Friday at 1pm. The team was able to get me checked in within 5 minutes of f my appointment time. They were able to quickly assess my laptop and help me locate and compare products based on price and what was best for my lifestyle and computer uses. I checked my laptop in and was contacted by Saturday evening (I day) that my laptop was ready! This was a blessing and surprise because the estimated return time was Tuesday. I also scheduled an appointment for pick up and was helped immediately upon arrival. She explained to me what was done to my laptop and returned it to me ready to use! read more

He convinced me to cancel the order online, which I was short-changed on for $11. He then refused to adjust the transation to accomidate for the discrepancy. Wouldn't even give me $10 store credit. I had to walk away from the order I had already paid for, and bestbuy stole $11 from me. After that, I was hung up on FOUR TIMES after being put on hold to speak to a supervisor. two wasted evenings later, I advise anyone reading this that you stay away from Best Buy entirely- these crooks. I use this store for everything I don't use the independence store for. I visit it often,and wonder why I never reviewed it till now. hmm.... I like this location, as well as the Independence location. When Independence doesn't have what I need, I'm not beyond driving to Lee's Summit. The lay out of the store is bright, with wide aisles,and generally they have what I need. It's feels new,and continues to have the newness inside, though it's been in this location for a while. I've bought a computer here, an Xbox 360 here, and games games games. I generally buy PC games at the Independence location, cause I know them and they think it's funny that I'm a die hard WoW player. But this store is often better stocked. It's a toss up between the 2. What I cannot stand about Best Buy in general is their funky website,and ordering, and picking up at the store. The item often isn't ready when the email says it is, and if I'm having it shipped to my house, it takes a week and a half....wait, this review is getting off on a different track. That has nothing to do with this store, I just wanted to throw in a 2 star situation in a Best Buy review. Cause I love Best Buy and I'd not give the store itself 2 stars. The customer service area here is fast,and polite. Face it they are busy at this time of year,and they know how bad the parking lot one lane thingy sucks during the holidays. I bought 2 TV's today. One was to include a free Echo Dot, but the salesperson forgot to include it. I didn't realize until I got home, which is ways out from the store. So, I tried to call the store to discuss and maybe just have them ship me one. But, this freakin' technology company cannot figure how to answer phones. I spent 1-1/2+ hours trying to get my Dot. Would have been quicker to load up and take my 2 Tv's back. In the end, they wouldn't ship it, and I still have to go by the store to get it. This will be the last time I shop Best Buy. This is a solid Best Buy and they are service focused. I have purchased freezers, washers, dryers, oven, televisions, computers, camera equipment, phone, headphones, games and software here. In the old days they would have known me by name and would have said wow here comes a great customer. It is sad people have to turn over the way they do now at chain stores. Having said that what makes me shop here is a young man named Jessie. He has since been promoted but he took such goo care of me that I have become a loyal customer. I had a problem with a freezer I bought and there is a long story behind trying to get it fixed. I was at the point of where I was no longer a rational customer and Jessie stepped in and took care of me and my problem. He really saved me as a Best Buy Customer. So this is where I shop. I know what I am looking for when I get there and if I need help most of the floor staff are good at knowing the extras I am asking about. If the are just reading the sales tag to me I just politely find another associate who can help. Overall the help is good. Not over bearing and yet easy to get help. They are fast to price match, help order product in or have it shipped to the house. Interesting how one major experience can make or break a relationship. read more

Best buy sells junk. We've had 2 washers and one dishwasher nought there in the last 5 years, all of them had issues, and their extended warranty program... Uses crap contractors. I have been wigjiit a washer for weeks waiting on the part they ordered. Contactor shows up today and announces the part he ordered is broken and now we wait another week for a new part. And that's it if they didn't misdiagnose the problem like they did last time. Have filed a BBB complaint and A MO Attorney General complaint so far. Beware. read more

We we take it in they have told us "we do not do that here." They talked us into getting the service agreement and then we can't get it fixed. I've even had problems trying to buy something there. I've bought a LOT of stuff from Best Buy over the years. Computers, televisions, camera's, music, movies, etc.... If I was to guess, I'd say they've pocketed ten to fifteen thousand of my dollars over the last five years. One thing I've noticed over that period of time is their customer service is slipping. My most recent visit may well have been my last. The week before Christmas we went to shop for a washer and dryer with a budget of $1500 - $1700. The store was not terribly busy (especially given the holiday), and there was no one other than us in appliances. I think the guy who helped us was straight off the used car lot. I've spent YEARS in retail selling high end products. This guy exhibited about every trait I see in poorly trained, lazy salespeople. No concern for our needs, no qualifying questions, no attempts to give us features & benefits. He essentially started adding up the numbers for the unit we were standing in front of and then threw this question at us: "What's it going to take to put a deal together right now?" Huh? I'm not even sure this is what we want. Are there other options? Just because we told you we saw this unit at Lowes doesn't mean its what we want. But that's fine, we were fairly sure this was indeed what we wanted. I really only had two simple questions: 1st - the price two days ago was $40 per unit less than it is now, will you honor it? 2nd - I have cash money (literally hundred dollar bills) & am a BB silver member, will that help you bring the price down a little more? He wanted me to give him a number that he could take to his manager, but he was adamant that he wasn't going anywhere unless I was ready to buy right now. It was a big purchase so I didn't appreciate his full court press to buy, but I gave him a number I felt would be fair. He told me he wasn't even going to bother his manager because he would say no. So me, my wife, and our twenty hundred dollar bills walked out of Best Buy and went to Sears. The gal that helped us earned my business. She asked why we were looking at that particular set and showed us several comparable models which reinforced the selection we had made based on our research. Then she busted her butt to hit my target number. I wasn't being unreasonable, but I wanted a deal . She and I both surfed the web at the cash register to find the best advertised price on the machines. She was shopping the competition for me and got creative with various coupons to hit the price used car guy didn't want to bring to his manager. When it was all said and done I went a little over what I had hoped to spend, but she sold me on the pedestals. Rather than asking me what it would take to put together a deal, she just figured it out and made it happen. Its a shame that Best Buy is struggling. They can blame the internet all they'd like, but their problems are self-inflicted. I attempted to purchase a high ticket item only to discover I didnt have my store credit card on me. When i approached the salesman and asked if they could call and the get the information for me they looked it me like I had asked them to solve the world's energy crisis. I began to explain when I go into ANY OTHER store they will look the number up for me so I can buy what I want to but no! This has to be the most aggravating company to deal with ever, I wanted to order a laptop, and got it ordered as well as a office program, plus external DVD and flash drive, since laptops don't DVD drive in them now. Was told they were out of the computer...but 4 were on the truck that would unload that night...and I was repeatedly told that it could be picked up the next day/evening. 4 or 5 times was told that in that many phone calls. Ordered online and paid for it, close to 600 worth but during check out? Was told the office program..could not be picked up by daughter, who is who I am buying if for her for college. Had to be card holder...or they could mail it to me..so I could mail it to her. Canceled that order. Tried again and after talking to her, found out she had office type program through her college. Got order filled out...and order says computer can be picked up on 10/21? But they will have them in the store 10/16/14? Got 4 confusing text messages. She got one saying computer was in and she could come get it. She gets there, after working all day, 3 kids haven't had dinner yet..and was told 'oh, it isn't in the system yet, you can pick it up the 21st as that is when it says you can pick it up'? She calls me, and I call the store, and get told well it isn't entered in the system...asked them just how hard that is...since they know it is paid for and someone is waiting for it for their college classes and needs it. Nope...no help. I called and canceled the order completely. Tried the Independence store, and for 45 minutes was stuck listening to how much I mattered, 4 times it sounded like someone picked phone up and just hung it up...and I NEVER got a real person to talk to. Best Buy is not any good to deal with anymore. Just a waste of time. They don't care about their customers at all. AND have to add this....open e-mails up last night and find this missive. I needed a battery for my iPhone7. I made an appointment with the Geek Squad since Best Buy is supposed to be an authorized Apple Repair Center. I was first told by the technician that it would take an hour and forty-five minutes to replace the battery. Then, a few minutes later he told me it would be around a two hour wait. He then left the desk and was gone for about 5 minutes. When he came back he told me they didn't have a battery for my phone, would have to have a battery overnighted and would have to keep my phone until the battery arrived. I asked him if he could just order the battery and call me when it arrived. He told me "we can't do that." Terrible customer service. read more

Best buy for it's prices and selection receive very high marks from me. What turns me off (and I've purchased A LOT from them) is the lacking customer service. You are usually waiting around to be helped (not enough employees) if you are even lucky to find one at all. I bought a $10 iPhone XR case March 2-2019. I ordered it on line and picked it up in the Lee's Summit store. Today I tried to return it. Since they don't give receipts when you purchase something online it was a big hassle for the idiot cashier to find the actual purchase. I am then told that it's past the return policy which is only 15 days. If I was a member of some store awards program I would then get a 30 day return period. Are you kidding me?? I can't get my $10 back for a crap phone case!!!?? I don't usually buy anything from them cause they overpriced. I will never shop at any Best Buy store again. I have worked retail before and I personally know some sales associates know what products they are talking about and selling and some have no clue besides the information on the price card. I go in to best buy with the information already in my head from my research I did prior to coming in the store and if I have any additional questions I will ask. While shopping here a couple was looking at otterbox phone cases and said they could get it cheaper through amazon. Best buy knows their competition is amazon and they have started price matching amazon as long as it is shipped through amazon and not a secondary seller shipping from their store. The employees we came across were friendly and helpful when i needed them. The only issue we came across was during the checkout process and the credit card machine on the counter was froze up and we dealt with that for 10 minutes and I was getting a little impatient and they were going to cancel the order and use another register and I just reached in my pocket and pulled out my cash to pay for it because I was getting impatient but now I was limited on cash for the rest of my evening. I'll still will shop best buy but I will shop amazon and other competitors as well to get the best deal.
