He took the time to explain everything in a way that actually made sense--graphics cards, processors, cooling systems, all the stuff I usually get lost with. Eli didn't rush me or push me into anything. Instead, he walked me through the differences between pre-built systems and custom builds, what specs matter for different types of games, and even helped me figure out what would fit best in my budget. You can tell he genuinely knows his stuff and enjoys helping people. I left feeling confident and excited instead of confused. my son (11 year old) got in line to purchase pokemon cards. when he got to the counter, the "manager - Santiago Treekus" refused to sell him pokemon cards. there were other other people in line behind him, they also had kids, and their kids were able to purchase pokemon cards (after refusing my son). i heard about the incident and went back to the store an hour later to find out what happened. Santiago wouldn't come out to talk. The counter rep says their policy is one transaction per credit card (which is not true), but this had nothing to do in reference to not selling my son pokemon cards. I spoke with another manager there (Josh), and it didn't seem like he cared or showed any concern. He even made a comment in reference to "it's just pokemon". i called corporate and reported the incident. Most likely nothing will happen to fix this issue or compensate us for the poor service, but just wanted the community to be aware of the people working there. read more

Made an appointment with geek squad. I needed to get the battery replaced in my 8 year old iPhone 8. I showed up and a young guy took 2 minutes to research it before telling me Apple didn't have the battery I needed anymore and he couldn't help me. I drove a mile up the street to Computer World, and within 15 minutes they had the battery ordered from Apple. I'm sorry I bothered the staff at Best Buy with my problem. I won't do it again. UPDATE: I got the call from Computer World yesterday that they had received my battery. Dropped the phone off this morning, went out for a nice lunch, came back and it was all set to go with a brand new Apple battery installed. Be advised. BEST BUY SERVICE SUCKS. Horrible. I bought a 65" tv two weeks ago along with a delivery and install and yr membership. Was suppose to be delivered today. Cleared our schedule everything was a go yesterday & last night. this morning I get an email it's cancelled the driver is sick. My complaint isn't with the store it is with there online department. I purchased a camera lens for my wife online, she found the same lens cheaper on a different site so I cancelled the order, which was in October by the way it has been over a month and a half and I still haven't gotten my refund $386. So I went to the store in Oshkosh to see if they could help and the store manager was very nice but very unhappy with the fact that she couldn't help me. The only way she could have settle the matter is if the online purchase was done in store. If it was done online out of store that is nothing she could do. This business is going downhill fast!!! Here's the bad news about Best Buy...Any time you have a problem there is no one available at the store to talk to you. You are put on an automated message and have to listen to 5 minutes worth of promotions and menu options, then you are always put through to someone who speaks English as a second language. This means you can't understand a word they are saying and it is too hard to communicate so you just end up hanging up. This review is not about the Appleton location, it is about Best Buy corporate, and specifically Best Buyer customer service. I purchased a desktop that I desperately needed to work from home and was assured it would be delivered by 3/18. 3/18 arrived and I got an email from Best Buy saying the order was delayed and they didn't know when they would ship it, after the Best Buy customer service agent had ASSURED me I would receive it by 3/18 when I ordered it, so that was clearly a lie. I tried calling Best Buy customer service and the wait time was over an hour, so I waited and waited and finally when I got to talk to someone, they just sat there in silence for 20 minutes until they hung up. I tried calling back again and explained the situation to a different customer service agent (after waiting on hold for another hour) and then she did the exact same thing--stopped talking and sat there in silence for 30 minutes, finally forcing me to hang up. Neither customer service agent would give me their names. Best Buy corporate needs to do something about these customer service agents--they should be fired and Best Buy needs to provide compensation to the customers that have had to deal with these situations. I will absolutely never buy anything from Best Buy again. read more

A few years ago I bought a mackintosh iMac 27 inch computer took it home my wife decided it was too big. I repacked it completely the way it should be as I received it. I went and returned it for a 24 inch iMac which was too small according to my wife. I repacked that and returned it. She told me she wanted the 27 inch instead. So I asked them if they had a 27 inch in stock and they gave me the one I returned a couple days earlier as an open box item. They gave me a $225 discount because it was open box. So in the long run I saved $225 off the price of a full size 27 inch iMac. They were just following store policy I just had to drive a lot of miles to do so. I've always found the employees at Best Buy to be very helpful and eager to help. Sometimes it is a little sparse for lack of people on the floor. Drove up to this location at 4:30 today. Walked up to the store, where there were several people standing outside, some wearing masks, some not, blocking entrance to the store with orange cones. I was greeted by a young woman, with no mask, who said, "What's going on?" I replied, "What do you mean?" She said, "Why are you here?" I said to do some shopping. Is the store open?" She said, "That depends." Really? I have to explain myself to gain entrance to store? Do they have a mask policy? I don't know. What do they want? I don't know. So rude. So I Just walked away. Depending on the time you come to this location, either there is an onslaught of people willing to help you, or what feels like one person staffing the entire store. The folks in the computer department are very helpful AND knowledgeable! Some of them are self-proclaimed computer nerds, so I try to seek them out when I have questions. My last visit took awhile, but the man that helped me knew his ish and I had that much more computer knowledge by the time I Ieft! Lol. They have business cards with a phone number and extension for specific department supervisors. If you call you'll be connected with a computer voice that doesn't seem to comprehend English. It will eventually put you on hold waiting for an actual human FOR A LONG TIME. Then you're informed that they do not connect you to individual stores or personell. I just happened to stop in at Best Buy because I was in the area. Months before, I requested to receive an email when a certain product became available. I received the email but didn't follow. So I stopped in and asked about the product. They said they thought there might be a couple left in the back room. The associate searched for it, and after almost giving up, ran into another associate who knew exactly where they were. I'm SUPER frustrated and actually VERY angry about my most recent Best Buy experience. I went into the (severely under staffed) Car Audio/Installation department with questions about a stereo for my wife's car. There was a single tech in the install bay and he had his hands full....you know...installing. NO ONE was manning the Car Stereo display area. After an unsuccessful attempt to get answers from another associate who came over (I had to flag down someone in the neighboring computer department to find out if there was anyone who could help me with car stereos since there was NO ONE manning that display area), the store GM (Brian N) came to help me and after he answered most of my questions, I made my decision. The folks in the installation department were nice but this is where the ball got dropped. Big time. The lone technician looked up the year, make and model of my wife's vehicle and told me about all the wiring harnesses and trim kits that would be needed to install so I purchased everything that was available in stock, as well as placing an order for an item that wasn't. Because we had to wait for the ordered item to come in, I set an appointment for after the item was scheduled for delivery. When I go there for the appointment, the tech (still very nice) attempted to verify that we had everything we needed and informed me that if there was a manufacturer's subwoofer in the car, it would require additional equipment and labor....and yes, there IS a subwoofer in the car. WHAT?!?!? This was never mentioned when I was ordering everything I "needed" to complete the install and as it turns out it would add nearly an additional $300 to my $292 initial purchase. Before I left the install bay I was informed that the install could be done without the additional equipment but that I would "lose a lot of sound" if they bypassed the subwoofer. Needless to say, I canceled the job and returned all the equipment on the spot. I assume this was an honest mistake but it was BEST BUY'S mistake and I'm the one paying the price. SMH. The entire situation left me with a bitter taste in my mouth that won't likely go away any time soon. Aside of the wasted time (two hours of my own and 45 minutes of my wife's time), I had to juggle my schedule to make the installation work. We had to take two vehicles to the appointment so I wouldn't have to sit around for a couple of hours at Best Buy. My wife had to juggle her schedule to make it all work and in the end, we did all of this for absolutely nothing. The take away from all of this is that Best Buy completely screwed up. The new information that surfaced when I was there for the scheduled installation SHOULD have been provided to me before I had even chosen a stereo. Had it been provided, I'd have gone no further. Nearly $600 for everything needed to install $120 car stereo was never going to happen. $292 was bad enough and that was after their "Free installation" of the head unit. All of the additional costs were in wiring harnesses, trim plates and additional labor, above and beyond the supposed "free installation". In the time since this unfolded, I have reached out to the store manager and have not heard back from him. Until reading some of the online reviews, I assumed that Best Buy might do something for me to remedy this situation that they created but based on all of the online reviews, it seems that people are just being left hanging and I'm not holding my breath that I'll be handled any differently. If I am wrong, I'll happily adjust my review. Things happen. It's how a company chooses to handle these things that makes all the difference. I have been trying to get an agreed upon return call for remote Geek Squad service for 48 hours. I have received no return call although I was promised the return call 4 times...today, two young women hung up on me when I asked them for a supervisor or asked hem to check the notes on my file. Waits on the phone lines have been 20 - 40 minutes. There is no live chat responses on BestBuy.com. There isn't even a way to ask for a refund...absolutely no one being responsive. Made an appointment to have a car stereo installed. I gave the guy in the auto department all the details of my car. When I arrived two weeks later the installers said they didn't have an installation kit in stock and couldn't perform the install. I live 30 miles away and drove into town for this only so my time was completely wasted. I decided to talk to the manager, not to yell or be rude, but because I thought he would want to know what happened and look for ways to make sure that doesn't happen again. Rather than wanting to improve on the customer experience at his Best Buy he was dismissive of me. He offered no apologies and wouldn't even admit that there was any problem. He was also very argumentative with me and when I finally got fed up and decided to just leave he snidely call out "Have a wonderful day" to me. He doesn't seem to care too much about the customers. Not having the parts to do my install cost them a sale but Brian the manager cost Best Buy a customer. read more

I even had them write it down. Went in the next day and had exactly the same salesperson and everything he told me was wrong~~suddenly we were not eligible for the upgrade, or the phone, or the giftcard. No more now they want to charge us $25 for an old computer monitor. I asked the guy at the door (nice kid), he called the manager, none of them responded. No She sends the kid back to me with a big NO, this is a "new" policy and even if you buy a 55" TV they will still charge you for the recycle. I guess Micro Center, Gamestop, Amazon, Sears, Half Price Books, Menards, Toys R Us, Guitar Center and even Pawn America are more interested in my money. Be careful of Best Buy peoples. I will not be there anymore. I got a warning saying I can not make any future returns for a year. I returned a pos camera that died the day I bought it October. Then a watch was exchanged which was a birthday present in November because they wanted a different one. Then I exchanged a $90 Roku the other day when I got the new $1900 TV as there was no need for the roku with the tv as it has it all unlike my other tv. So they tell me I cant make a return for 365 days even though I am an elite member who spent just over $3000 there this year. The new TV has a slight issue where it does not turn on with the remote after sitting for a while off. I have to use the satellite remote to turn it on. Then the TV remote works. Amazon FTW. So two of those three are exchanges for something better, and one being a piece of shit that broke. you call the number of the TRE and its just someone you can barely understand to send you a copy of the returns, like I was born yesterday and have no idea what I returned. read more
