Hang with me through this review, as it is very detailed and worth a read before applying to work…read morehere or enrolling your child. Please understand that this is an extremely honest review and not being posted out of anger or pettiness towards the Daycare. At the end, I will post a photo of my Notice of Resignation as insight into my employment. The Directors name is Tina Norfleet, the Assistant Directors name is Aida, the Curriculum coordinator is Maureen, and the front desk assistant is Christina. My employment time- During my time of employment, roughly 6/7 months, I dealt with much more drama than I experienced in high school. I have heard the front office staff speaking badly about teachers and even parents in the office. I have had to work many days extremely sick and was not able to go home and rest, causing multiple children in my class to become ill. On the days I was allowed to leave, I had to wait until my shift was already almost over, or I was told to go home for two or so hours, then come back and finish the day. They often take their anger from being understaffed out on the teachers, which is extremely unfair. I gave my 100 percent and even more to this Daycare, for them to not appreciate an ounce of it. Why take out your anger on the teachers that do come to work? You should be thanking us. If you are looking for a job that makes you feel appreciated, this is not it. There are much better options for employment. I expressed my concerns multiple times to Tina and Aida, and every time it was tossed to the side and I was told, "If you can't handle this position, maybe this is not the place for you." It is not that I cannot handle this position, as I have been working in Daycares and Preschools for almost four years and I have a behavioral science degree. It is simply the lack of support from the Director and Assistant. When I had brought up my concerns, I was talked to as if I was a 5 year old. Tina is very rude and confrontational. She loves to engage and start drama within the work place, which I simply do not stand for. I have heard previous front office staff, Makenna, say that she "hates" a pregnant employee that had called for a restroom break. This was said in front of Tina, who just laughed at the comment. I have many more unsettling experiences like this. Classrooms- The classrooms have many children with behaviors that need an extra hand. Tina and Aida are not as helpful as they should be with these children. I have been spit on, punched, bit, kicked, slapped, and had chairs thrown at me along with toy blocks and cars to my head. When I call for assistance, I am told to just hold the child's hand or sit them in a chair. This just does not work. Parents are not notified of the behavior and the teacher is told to figure it out. I had a child in my classroom who was biting, hitting, kicking, and throwing chairs and water bottles at other children and myself. The child was suspended MULTIPLE times but was allowed to come back each time. The child was finally dis enrolled when I was punched in the face after trying to redirect them after they had thrown three chairs, hit multiple kids in the head with a metal water bottle, and punched other children unprovoked. I understand this school is very diverse and does not discriminate, but if you plan to run a school like this then you should also be equipped for children who struggle with behaviors. There are also 20+ kids crammed into a small classroom. They had planned to put 30 children in my classroom. After I brought to their attention that this was just not possible, they settled with 26 children. Teachers- Room 4 teacher is Nazah. This teacher has walked out on her position multiple times and has even walked out of a room leaving children alone. She screams at the children all day and is just not happy with her job it seems. She was recently moved to room 4 and awarded teacher of the month for April. Room 5 cannot keep a teacher. I have seen at least 5 teachers in my time of employment go in and out of that classroom. One which left a child outside twice. She was still employed after leaving the child outside and only left the center because she had quit. As far as I know, the parents were not notified. The menu- The menu at Childrens Lighthouse of Allen is bland in my opinion. There is no diversity in food and children are served the same food weekly, sometimes the same meal twice a week. Their menu consists of baked chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, fish sticks, cold turkey and cheese croissants, cheese and spinach quesadillas, Mac and cheese, and spaghetti. The sides consist of carrots, broccoli, watermelon, corn and peas, and banana or oranges. Overall, this Daycare is not a 5 star center, maybe a 3 at most. I feel like there are much better places to enroll your children that will be safer, cleaner, and happier.

It was a lengthy process in choosing her first school and we are very pleased to have chosen Primrose. The school and the staff have been playing a significant role in the development and growth of our daughter. Over time since she joined, Isha loved going to school. Apart from the outstanding curriculum, numerous other activities like Christmas celebrations, Easter Egg Hunt, the annual graduation ceremony, etc., have piqued Isha's interest and made her appreciate the time she is spending in school. It is to be noted that the staff put in a lot of time, effort and energy into the execution of the aforementioned events that they end up being really grand, rich and thoroughly memorable experiences for students and parents alike. The school has also ensured that they strictly meet the dietary requirements of each child. The staff also do a commendable job in communicating with us about the child's daily activities, upcoming events, payment reminders and accommodating many other requests we've made. It has been a breeze communicating with Ms. Corrine, especially, and she has always been prompt, quick and always helpful in her response. Our special mention goes to Ms. Alissa. Ever since Ms. Alissa became the class teacher for Pre-K-2, Isha wasn't just happy but was excited to go to school. We, as parents, could clearly see that Ms. Alissa genuinely cared about the kids in the class, made them all feel inclusive, provided individual care to each one of them and actually wanted them to be happy & comfortable. The very manner she greets the kids in the morning not only brightens their days but ours as well. As we drop off our daughter and drive away in the morning, we feel relieved and at peace knowing that Ms. Alissa is there to take care of our daughter. We also want to thank Ms. Margie (who in Isha's words is a very sweet teacher), Ms. Shilpi, Mr. Alan (whose high-fives instantly cheer up Isha in the morning), Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Heather.

The new staff began going off protocols and doing whatever they wanted to do. I witnessed an employee changing one of the infants on the playmat where the kids play when there was an available changing table, she would undress all of the kids while eating lunch instead of simply using a bib, and admittedly lied about daily documentation (specifically when and how much my child was eating). The outside play equipment was filthy and my kid would have clothes covered in dirt. We ultimately had to leave due to safety concerns.

This school has been such an important part of our family's life, and we could not have asked for a better place for our children to learn, grow, and be cared for. What makes Primrose of West Allen truly special is its people and its culture. Shannan and Andrew lead from the top down, and their commitment to the children, families, and staff is reflected throughout the entire school. They have created something that feels much more like a family and community than simply a preschool. Perhaps the best reflection of that culture is that their staff includes three generations of teachers from the same family -- a mother, daughter, and granddaughter. That says so much about the kind of environment they have built. The leadership team -- Ms. Vidisha, Ms. Eylin, Ms. Jessica, and Ms. Leslie -- is exceptional. They know the children and families personally, are always approachable, and genuinely care. Most importantly, we want to thank all the wonderful teachers who have taught, cared for, and loved both of our kids over these five years. There have been so many amazing teachers along the way, and we are incredibly grateful to every one of them for the role they have played in our children's lives. As parents, there is nothing more reassuring than dropping your children off knowing they are safe, happy, loved, and surrounded by people who truly care about them. We will genuinely miss Primrose of West Allen and, most importantly, the people who make it so special. Thank you, Shannon, Andrew, the leadership team, and all the incredible teachers and staff for five unforgettable years. We are truly grateful, and you will always hold a special place in our family's hearts. We could not recommend Primrose School of West Allen more highly.

I am extremely disappointed with this daycare and the way my children and I were treated…read more I had concerns about staff professionalism, including staff members who were not properly licensed/qualified, speaking to each other in another language in front of us, and staff members being rude, bossy, and disrespectful toward both parents and children. The overall environment did not make me feel that my children were being cared for with the professionalism and attention they deserved. What concerns me the most is an incident involving my child. I was told that my children had fallen, that everything was okay, and that there was nothing to worry about. Two weeks later, I found out that my child's front tooth had suffered nerve damage and was essentially dead. Today, my child had to undergo a dental procedure because of the injury. As a parent, I am extremely upset that I was reassured that everything was fine, yet I later discovered that my child had a serious dental injury requiring a procedure. I have also requested the video footage of the accident, and so far it has not been released to me. I believe I have every right to understand exactly what happened to my child while she was under the daycare's care.
