A co-worker told me about Mrs. Jackie's home daycare. Even though I wanted more for them, I was hesitant because transition is hard on little ones; but my co-worker's insistance about how happy her son was made me want to check it out. My boys have now been at Mrs. Jackie's for almost a year and I cannot begin to express my appreciation for all that these amazing teachers do. Firstly, they have a small teacher to student ratio, which means they get lots of snuggles and indivualized attention. For example, my two year old can't seem to get enough books right now. I can tell you he gets plenty of lap time with his books throughout the day. In fact, just yesterday he got to help make lunch with one of his teachers. He was so proud! That is the kind of stuff I wish I could be doing with them during the day, but knowing they are getting that type of interaction is second best to being home with mom. So what else is so wonderful? Well, they get to play and just be kids, but in a very caring and enriching environment. They go to the library, park, and other field trips throughout the month. The daily curriculum is structured and hands-on. Right now they are learning about the human body. The activities have ranged from feeling spaghetti to learn about the brain and the importance of protecting their head to playing a game where they pretended to pull teeth as they learned about oral health. Fun stuff! Oh, they get letters and numbers, too, but so, so much more. The teachers take the time and patience to teach my sons how to be polite and obedient in a very loving way. There is no doubt they are LOVED. I know it, and they do too! The teachers regard their job as a calling. They do what they do because they care and understand the important role they play in the lives of these little ones. I would love to say more, but this is getting long... just know that Mrs. Jackie's Happy Hearts Home Daycare is unlike any other. They are like family to my kids... and me too, because I truley love them for the peace they've given me; and the love they've given my boys.

I was pleased to find this school had only 1 very minor infraction that was immediately handled and had numerous great reviews from parents. Furthermore, I felt very welcomed during my two in school tours by myself and then again with my two boys. Ms. Guyatri was especially loving and the teachers had been their for many many years. All of the above reasons are why I chose Heritage Montessori when our nanny gave us a two week notice. However, I feel absolutely compelled to write this review so that ALL parents understand the importance of looking at the provided camera detail of the classrooms. Had I not done this, my oldest son would have continued to be singled out and mistreated by Nimmi Gudavalli, the Elementary class teacher. On our first day, Nimmi was at the front desk and was immediately surprised when we told her that our son was going to be in her class. She was not at all welcoming or friendly. While I understood her surprise having not been told or having not met us since she was on a field trip during my initial visits, this was not a good representation for the school. From then on, I was told very rudely that my son's photo would not be put up like the other students because it was close to the end of the year and there would be a new teacher for the summer, and because she had heard my son wasn't coming back for the fall, among other questionable actions. Two days after my son started in Nimmi's classroom, I was granted access to view his room. And immediately, I was completely horrified by what I watched first hand. Despite their being at least 20 empty desks in the classroom facing inward toward the world map rug, my son was turned around facing a black refrigerator in a corner BY HIMSELF. For circle time, my son tried to join the other kids on the rug and when Nimmi came back into the room she made him leave the circle and sit back in the corner facing the refrigerator. I was livid. I immediately called Ms Guyatri and she also saw the video of my son in the corner by himself while all the other children and Nimmi were having class on the rug. She was stunned and agreed to immediately go to the classroom and get my son out of the corner and have him with the rest of the class. The sad part is that had I not been watching via my phone, I don't know how long Nimmi would have thought it was ok to single a child out, turn their desk around and put them in the corner as if they are being punished. Of course after meeting with Ms Guyatri I switched classrooms. To my surprise, Nimmi had already packed my son's things and put them at the door as if to say Good Riddins! Her excuse was she didn't think he would understand what they were going over during circle time and would be distracted. In other words, there was no good excuse for singling out 1 student and making them feel like they weren't part of the class and putting them in a corner. She had met my child 3 days prior and had assumed he wouldn't understand and felt her actions were appropriate. As a so-called teacher, this was beyond unacceptable and she and Ms Guyatri were told as much among other things as any parent could imagine. Ms Guyatri tried to say Nimmi was stressed, but honestly if stress causes a "teacher" to mistreat a child then they no longer need to be a teacher. No child deserves the treatment my son went through during his first 3 days of school. And women like Nimmi Gudavalli are the reason some kids get off to a bad start not having a loving, nurturing, inclusive environment where they are encouraged and pushed to become their best selves. I really write this long story short to make parents aware of the need to monitor their children, ask questions and always speak up when you see something that is not right. After all, while Heritage is a far cry from what I was paying for a full time nanny for the past 5 years, I'm still spending my money and am entitled to better.

I now present to educators across TX on social emotional skills in children. I'm saying this for two reasons- one, because my career has mad me EXTREMELY picky about who I trust my child with. And two- because I have witnessed good and bad teachers and facilities both as an educator AND a mom. My son goes to Goddard full time in the summer. I've been incredibly impressed by the staff's ability to be both professional and personable at the same time. My son has ADHD, along with a few gross motor delays- and can be a handful. His teachers understand what is developmentally appropriate behavior, and how to support his growth moving forward. This has been rare for us and is appreciated in educators working with my son. He is constantly engaged and happy when I pick him up. The teachers are always monitoring and engaged with the children when I arrive. And their photos are a treat! I'm not sure what the enrollment is like in the school year, but for my son, his class numbers seem really low. I am thankful to have found a place I trust my son to be in. After calling over a dozen daycares in the area, only two stood out as worthy of a visit. Our visit at the first daycare was fine enough, but after we left the second daycare - The Goddard School - I immediately drove home and filled out the paperwork to get my still-in-utero son enrolled. I haven't had a single regret since my son started as a 3-month-old. He's 22 months now and can count to 10, name basic shapes and colors, and make sounds for countless animals. He cleans up like a champ and says please and thank you. He loves books and spends most of his time at home reading. I won't give Goddard ALL the credit - I do some things as his parent, of course - but it's a relief knowing that they're teaching him the same concepts and reenforcing the manners we practice at home. Like many daycares nowadays, they do send out updates on each child's day via an app, so at the end of the day I can see what my son ate, how long he napped, when his diaper was changed, the activities he participated in, and a few photos of what he did. And I love that they teach community involvement by participating in programs such as Fill The Bus and the ACO Food Drive. They also have monthly Parents' Night Out and frequent cookouts and festivals. The school is always clean and one of the two owners are on-site the entire time the school is open. I recommend them to everyone!

I apologize profusely if I'm butchering the spelling but Shamika was so incredibly kind and made my little feel so comfortable that her first time there, she gave us no fuss or tears, she was just ready to go play. My kiddo still gets nervous going to her school of 2 years with her best friends there but going to this location for the first time, she felt so at ease she went and stayed 2 hours having fun while we got our first reasonably priced date night in 3 years. Not one adult was try to help her feel better, nor talking to her & one of the care takers said,"she's just sad because her parents left." She literally looked like she was in timeout because of her crying. When you care for children, you are there for them no matter what/ no matter how many times you need to try. Taking care of children requires a special gift. They need our help constantly. 2. I picked up my son & I immediately saw his face was red, running nose & extremely hot. My son is able to speak & he told me he didn't feel good. I did not receive one phone call about my son. As a child care taker you should be more aware. Checking children constantly to make sure everything's okay. You could clearly tell something was wrong with him just by his nose running, redness on skin & just standing there like a statue. That clearly shows me that those adults don't pay close enough attention to catch something like that & my son was there for hours. He said he had been feeling that way since nap time (1pm, I picked him up around 5pm). This place of business needs way better discernment & wisdom when it comes to hiring the adults to care for children.
