LA Singers Mixer
Lorna K.

Best Ball is a bar located at a golf course, serving bar food and a full bar. Service is great with a breakout room to accommodate guests for a private party. I was here for the LA Singers event. Their wait staff is very friendly and service is quick. Their only complaint I have is their restrooms are single person occupancy with only two stalls available. This made it inconvenient for guests.

I think I found my new hangout spot in Van Nuys. Basketball is huge! It doesn't look this big from the outside. But the inside is deceptively large with lots and lots of seating near the mini mini large screen TVs. There is a bar that serves hard liquor and several outside patios. The food is reasonably priced. Most entrées are under $15. And best of all they are dog friendly. You can actually bring your pooch inside the restaurant where they will offer you a bowl of water for your dog. The manager opened the door for me because I was hesitant to bring him in. I just wanted a bottle of water. But I was made aware that they are very dog friendly and dogs are happily welcome down the inside. They offer breakfast starting at 7:30 AM, which is perfect after a Walker run around the golf course. But they also have our food which is chicken nuggets, french fries, hamburgers, etc.. Someone in the kitchen is a little heavy-handed with the salt. So tell them to take it easy if you are salt sensitive like I am. The toast came with my breakfast and it was burnt. So I sent the salty eggs back with the toast and ask them to redo it. They redid the whole meal for me and it came back perfectly. I will be coming back here with some friends. This is gonna be my new hangout for the summer.

Very nice bar restaurant at Woodley golf. The staff is friendly and attentive. Sydney is super sweet. The food and the drinks are great and reasonably priced. Cheeseburger is $12 and 16 wings are $26. There is a lot of tables inside but also outside. They put large screens out to watch games. It was a good spot to watch the World Cup.

Another day another stop for a beer during happy hour. I'm noticing that people are starting to catch on about this place. Not just the golfers but now locals and wanderers. We been coming for a while now after a walk around the lake. Plus it's a good reason to hydrate afterwards with a nice cold one. And what better way, happy hour. Anyways, it's a great place to just stop by, have a beer and some food and just lounge. If you're looking for sports, there's plenty of television inside with something on. We like to just enjoy the patio seating outside and Just watch the golfers on the putting green. Something mellow and quite relaxing. Positive note, they're pet friendly. If you come on Sunday, i guarantee theres always going to be some kind of sports on. The service has alway been great. All the staff are amazing and friendly. It's says a lot when you walk in and they know exactly what you want. Either I'm here too much or they know their regulars. It's a great way to unwind and just chill after a day of work or whatever. The golfers are all friendly as well. They're all here for the same reason. They use to have trivia night but I'm not sure if that still exists. Regardless, it's alway a great place. I hope they don't mind that I brought a fruit salad from one of the vendors to enjoy with my beer... LOL...

Food is gone! But burger and wings were delicious

I kinda of don't want to leave this review because I don't want this spot to become main stream. Ahh! But we aren't gatekeepers around here. I love love love this bar when I want to come watch a game away from the rowdy bandwagon fans. I came here to watch several Dodger playoff and World Series games. The vibe was immaculate. The food was really good. Try the pretzel dessert my son and I finished it all! The service was great. I love that it's tucked away. Feels like my own personal bar everytime I go.

I was surprised to see a sports bar located in the good course, we checked it out and it ended up being a really cool spot. They have lots of seating and the vibes are great here on Sundays. Service is also really great. We got some wings and fries and they came out fairly quickly, they were super crunchy and delicious! They were buffalo and garlic parm, the garlic parm was amazing. It also seems to be dog friendly. The parking gets really bad, it's a shared lot between the good course and the bar so you should arrive early for your game. The bathrooms also could be a little cleaner in my opinion.

The ambiance and the vibe is so much fun. The workers look like they want to be here. And the food is also so so good. We can during the World Cup and it was so much fun and amazing experience

Best ball is a undeniably the best golf course snack bar I've ever seen. I've been several times now and have had a ball every time. During football season this place gets packed. Food is consistently good and the bartenders are heavy handed. What's really dope is the diverse group of people you see here. Everything from older guys with their golf crew to ladies having a girls day out and everything in between. Very cool spot that I would encourage anyone to check out when in the area.

Chicken 4 Pc Tenders

I really didn't expect too much but this place serves some pretty solid food at an affordable price. The spicy fries have a good kick. The garlic fries are perfectly seasoned. The chickened tenders have plenty of crispy batter but are also quite meaty.

A hidden gem by Lake Balboa. You'd never expect this spot in the middle of the park to be so lively and busy. Sports fans were clearly loving both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. I didn't try the food, but my drink came out fast. The best part is the outdoor space: a green, grassy area where you can relax and enjoy the view.

Happy hour menu

Best Ball is located in the Woodley Lake Golf Course. I'm not a golfer, but I'll come here for their happy hour and sports games anytime. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 pm, and a pretty diverse menu for a sports bar. I decided to try their wings, and they had over six flavors to choose from. The happy hour deal is 8 wings for $8. My son got the chicken strips kids' meal ($10). They also have outdoor games to play, such as ping pong and cornhole, which my 5-year-old loved. I'll definitely be coming back soon with the family during football season. There's a large parking lot at the golf course.

I have always gone to the golf range here and have walked past this sports bar but finally got the chance to try it today. First of all, very good service from the staff - the attentiveness, attention to detail, and the kindness they provide to their customers is top tier! Their food, I did not expect to love it so much. Everything came piping hot which I like. We got the garlic parm chicken wings, we got a cheeseburger and some onion rings. I was really thinking it would be oily or salty but they have really good food. Not oily, and not salty at all. I was so happy to find this cool spot. They also have happy hour which I want to come back for the wings. Really nice spot, there's a bar area and there are seating outside and inside. The seats are also very comfy which you can just hang out there of you're waiting for your tee time or even after the game. I get so excited to find cool spots like this! Great find.

Best Chicken Caesar Wrap!

This place is such a cool little hidden gem. The ambiance is really nice for just grabbing a drink and hanging out, and the food is honestly pretty solid too. But my favorite part is definitely Wednesday trivia -- it's a lot of fun and always a great midweek vibe. Just a really good spot to relax, eat, and enjoy something a little different.

I wish I had read my last review from 9 yrs ago before revisiting this place today…read more Let me tell you about the good things first... this won't take long. Kelley, our server, was a sweetheart. And the glass of wine was a nice pour and a decent wine. I like that they let you in for something to drink before officially opening for the day. Cue record scratch... now about that food. No, we did not order the wrong thing and no, IMO, they were not just having a bad day. Look at these Huevos Rancheros with "house hash, tostadas and 3 eggs"... those are chips (I think from a bag of tortilla chips) so not really a tostada, no way there were three eggs in that thing (from what I could see)... not sure what the "house hash" is but nothing I could identify on the plate. I know a lot of people might leave a restaurant and say "I could have made that at home" but there is no way I would make something this crappy at home. LOOK at this Avocado Toast with "avocado spread"... that is some thin smear of something green but when you are calling something "Avocado Toast" there should be a substantial amount of the hero ingredient (and maybe not call it "avocado spread" on your menu description. To me, that says, "Look we don't want to call this a "rustic mash of avocado" or "Hass smash" or "hand-crushed ripe avocado" because we know you are actually going to SEE it in front of you in about 15 minutes and "avocado spread" won't lead to a major disappointment." But it did. And this slab of dry plywood that they were calling toast. I turned to my wife and in my best Sebastian Manascalco said, "Why would you do that??" This place mostly failed on food. The food at the other tables looked equally pathetic. Gotta say... all of the cooked egg components of each dish were decent but the rest of the items were like WTF? Ambiance? It's OK... I mean it was a bar with a ton of TVs going. Semi-nice vibe for a sports bar... lots of room. Just can't get over the food. We ate about half of our sodium bombs and left. But parts of the eggs were lovely... as was Kelley.

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.
