The only reason I posted a comment is because two recent reviewers had a similar experiences. I've been using them since July of 2014, no more. The first time they did get the stain out of my necktie, the solution however left a big white spot on a blue tie. The lady at the counter did at least give me a $10 bill for what was probably an $80 tie. OK. The second time I recently got a shirt back with a tear in the sleeve. They explained that the tear was due to a worn out sleeve. It's just a customer service deflection to blame the customer for their mistake. I bought that shirt in 2015, at best I wear it once every two weeks. It's absurd to think clothes suddenly become as fragile as a tapestry or something. I won't go back. read more

I've been a customer every week for the past 2 years and I tend to agree with some of the less positive reviews here. The staff is nice and prices are ok for the area. On average they get basic jobs done, but you do need to be VERY specific about what you want from them, and be ready to be blamed for any damage or occasional mistake. As other people have reported here, any issue will be somehow blamed on you. I had shirts torn apart (literally destroyed), buttons gone missing, and even brand new pants ruined. Yet it was always somehow my fault. I was once told that my shirt was ruined because they couldn't understand my accent and thought I had asked for laundry instead of dry cleaning. Really? I could not longer condone their customer service practices and took my business elsewhere. read more

This place got a makeup stain out of one of my favorite dresses and it's good as new. It was like $10 for drycleaning and the stain removal. Amazing! I've had stain removal at other dry cleaners that have been way more expensive and not nearly as good. I highly recommend for general drycleaning and stain removal. I was a regular customer as I live nearby. I mostly did dry cleaning and alterations on occasions. They appeared to be very friendly, although in a superficial sort of way. I'm very careful with my clothing, in fact I always launder my shirts myself and never trust the dry cleaner. Anyways, I put my trust in them to do a proper job on my pants. After getting them back I noticed a fair amount of fabric abrasion in the seat area. I was very upset as it was one of my favorite pairs and I knew that these pants would not last very long and they did eventually rip. I thought I would bring them back to Besson's and they would make it right, at the very least I expected they would at least accept some responsibility. I was wrong. They neither admitted to the damage nor offered any solution. How sad. Especially revealing was the look on their faces all the while denying the problem: a mixture of knowing exactly where the problem occurred and fear. Actually this all is not surprising, a different dry cleaner ripped a pant hook off my pants and denied everything. I guess it was my dog; the problem is I don't have one. Of course, I'm no longer a customer of Besson's. Had they at least assumed responsibility for this I would have continued going there. This happened a few months back. I needed a pair of jeans to be hemmed, and based on Yelp reviews, decided to check out Besson's. True to the reviews, the owners/staff we really friendly, patient, and helpful. Their seamstress did a wonderful job, and you could not tell, even upon close inspection, that the jeans had been hemmed. I later went back to have a suit jacket altered, and had the same kind of excellent experience. If I had to nitpick, it would be to suggest that maybe they add another fitting room/area, since this place is so popular there's sometimes a wait to use the fitting room :) read more

When faced with a screw up they denied any liability and suggested I leave a review. I sent them multiple items for dry cleaning (cost over 100$) when they delivered it the address and my name on the slip were wrong so the concierge desk at my table had no idea who it was for and just left it in package room for 4 days. Not so great treatment of expensive clothing. Their "friendly" approach on the phone with me was extremely passive aggressive. This place gives personalized attention to your needs and really cares about its customers. I was in DC visiting my son who was having major knee surgery and unable to get around. I requested a pick up of both some shirts that needed to be laundered as well as suits and jackets. Dominic came right on time with a huge smile on his face and assured me that everything would be taken care of and delivered back to my son's apartment within 48 hours. The service was amazing and prices were very reasonable. They also repaired a tear that was in one of the suit jackets. I love this place. The people who run it - Lee and Phil - are incredibly nice, friendly, and helpful people. They have been in the business for years, used to run it as a high-end tailor shop, and really know what they are doing. Their customer service is impeccable, and they will work with you for all of your cleaning and alterations needs. I have used lots of alterations services after losing weight recently - getting jeans and dress slacks taken in, having sport coats and blazers altered, having button down shirts taken in, and sewing up tears - and am 100% satisfied every time. When I brought in an old sweater that had lost all of its buttons and asked if they could replace, Lee told me to find the buttons (which I did online) and that she could stitch them on afterward. This was such a relief, as other places had told me they couldn't do anything after looking at the sweater, and it was a piece that belonged to my Dad and I really did not want to throw away. Their prices are just slightly higher than some other places in the area, but it is WELL WORTH IT. Having sampled a couple of other joints in the vicinity, they simply do not hold a candle to Besson's, and being treated so nicely by such amicable people every time you walk in makes it all the more worthwhile! I would definitely recommend their services, especially if you have nice clothes that you are anxious leaving in someone else's hands. They have worked on some of the most expensive pieces in my wardrobe that had gotten too big on me after losing weight, and made it look sleek and tapered once again. read more

I took my blouses to be sewn at Besson's because a friend had taken hers there to been dry-cleaned. I trusted her opinion. She warned me that they were expensive. The patch work that they did on my Brook's Brothers blouses was decent; and, I was ready to part with them just yet. Also, given the tear on each blouse was located under the arm pit, no one would really see it anyway. However, on one blouse, there was a tear underneath the other arm pit that I saw upon inspection right after I picked up my clothes and before leaving out. The employee/owner said two things 1. I didn't show it to her. That probably is correct. But as a good needleworker, she should have inspected for other tears? She apparently did because her response to me when I showed her the tear was, and 2. "You didn't ask me to repair that one." Did she call me to inform me of a tear that I had obviously missed? No. Did she offer to repair it when I pointed it out to her at the dry cleaners? No. I walked out with my items along with my business. I hope others have a better customer service experience there. read more

The staff at Besson's are always really friendly and call me right away if they find a tear in a piece of clothing to make sure I am aware of it and give me the option of having them repair it along with the cleaning (they provide a price). The sewing charges can be quite high (maybe not for DC, but compared to other places I have lived). They are upfront about turnaround times--usually quite fast. They also have explained the risk of trying to treat stains on certain silk products, but so far, they have always been able to remove the stains without any damage to the fabric. We have been going to this cleaner for over a year. The experiences have been inconsistent. We noticed they have torn many shirts. Some of them returned with buttons missing or broken. Some of them returned with elbows area being torn. They explained because the shirts are old and elbow area is worn but it was a brand new shirt. While we thought it was only an unlucky incident, we saw another customer at the store having the same problem. Even so, we still went back to the shop given the convenience of the location. The next thing we know my silk shirts were missing buttons, weird smell on the garments.... Overall, they just do not do a good job taking care of your clothes. We did notice they focus on speedy turnaround but sacrificing the quality is not acceptable. Will not return. read more

I don't know where all the five reviews are from. I'm completely unsatisfied with the laundry service. I brought 19 pieces of high-end clothes for dry clean. It turned out that all of them are stretched and look old. The original colors of the clothes are not preserved and look very old now. This place is great. The owners are incredibly nice and sweet. My neighborhood dry cleaners and go to for any simple alterations - mostly hem shortening (comes with midget territory). They're fast and reliable and all around great. There's a competing cleaners across the street. First time customer. Very, very satisfied. First, the quality of the service is excellent. I've frequented Sun Cleaners across the street and a cleaners in Silver Spring. Besson's service is par excellance! Second, the price for such high quality is praise worthy. I had a 3/4 wool coat dry cleaned, a zipper on a skirt fixed and the skirt dry cleaned, and a thick cashmere sweater that needed serious de-piling and dry cleaning. All services were the best that I've ever experienced. Also, the total was $56. I went to other places and the price ranged from $80-$100. I am not one to simply use a service because it's there, and I'm so glad that I shopped around. This place is a hidden gem in the dry cleaner world of DC! I will be back. read more
