Craving matcha turned into a mild parking obstacle course near California State University,…read moreFullerton, because apparently the real challenge is fitting your car into a space designed for a bicycle with confidence issues. Inside Vivot, it's giving "finals week survival zone" with students glued to laptops, one brave employee running the entire operation, and a self-order kiosk doing its best emotional support role. We kept our Matcha Latte classy, 25% sweetness with oat milk to really interrogate the matcha and honestly it passed the vibe check!! Smooth, solid, and worth the parking gymnastics. Oh and also, they are open late, closes at 11pm week nights and midnight on weekends.

I had ordered a milk tea and their Thai tea and was super disappointed with the flavor it was complete milk unfortunately and no sweeteners despite us having the 100% sweetener option. The drinks came out very far from each other time wise as well which isn't a super big issue but it's noticeable and could be an issue for bigger orders. Super busy somehow so we didn't want to burden the worker while the store had a rush. Other than that the place gave me a very pretentious vibe. I'm all for starting a business you're passionate about but it's hard to see what's different about THIS cafe in a world full of other businesses claiming to be different that's serving the same items (matcha specifically). Not to say that there's not bad matcha or coffee out there, there is. Seems like the type of cafe people go to take a picture of their drinks and pretend like they're connoisseurs and pretend that it's "different" than whatever else is out there and sit and pretend to study on their laptop (even though it's the loudest and crowded place in the world in there). Seeing that the place opened recently, it's very hard to believe this isn't some type of money grab for a younger audience to serve trendy drinks. Or at the very least, a very expensive passion project for the owner. Overall just more focused on aesthetics more than anything.

That said, I've run into the same issue twice now (including today and once about 3 months ago): the bathroom was out of order both times. I'm not sure if I've just had bad luck, but it definitely impacts the experience--especially when you're planning to stay and work for a while and end up having to leave to find a restroom. I still genuinely enjoy this place and will keep coming back for the coffee, but I hope the restroom situation gets addressed because it would make a big difference in the overall experience.

I wanted a low-caffeine option, so hojicha seemed like a good choice for the afternoon. Since I believe it was my first time trying hojicha, I could've gone without the mocha. It did go well with hojicha because the drink came out nicely chocolatey. The little lumps of blueberry were a treat to eat along with the drink. Overall, it was a delicious latte, and I finished it a little quickly. It was nice to see all the different kinds of decorations at their patio again. The music playing was a mix of American and Korean pop. Like before, the cashier gives you a pager that prompts you to come back to the counter to pick up your order. I parked by the curb on N. Richman Ave. as there was a lot of space to leave my car.

The workers are really nice and patient, especially when my friends and I are taking forever trying to decide what drinks we want. They never make us feel rushed and are always willing to answer questions or give suggestions. One thing I really like is that the drinks don't feel overly sweet, and you can actually taste the quality of the matcha itself. It's definitely one of those spots I keep finding myself going back to because it's reliable every single time. If you're looking for a solid café to study at or just want a good matcha spot with a relaxing atmosphere, this is definitely one I'd recommend.

What has made me write this review is if you place an order online they won't put the ice until after you arrive at the pick up counter. I love this due to the coffee not ending up being diluted. I've never enter a coffee shop that does this and by far enjoy that. It shows they take pride in their coffee beans. I also get the banana nut bread. By far the best bread I've ever had.
