It was amazing -- creamy, smooth, slightly sweet from the onion and just a hint of the smoky meat. From there the meal went from highlight to highlight, with each dish my favorite. From the soy, ginger and sesame tuna tostada to the warm goat cheese with hazelnut and honey, to the beautiful cider glazed pork belly. Since we were on this side of the town, we decided to make the most of it and look for a meal of seafood. I had Octopussy's Tapas bookmarked when researching for the trip, so we decided to stop in for lunch. It was a Thursday at around 1:30, and the restaurant was almost full. It's a very small restaurant and it's mostly high top tables with bar stools, so it wasn't exactly looking baby-friendly, since had our 8-month old and a stroller with us. Luckily, they have a small back room (literally a room that can probably seat 4-6 people) that was available, and they seat us back there. It was nice and cozy, and cute - decorated like you were on a ship. Here is what we ordered: -Carlingford Oysters (served in the shell with fresh lemon) - these oysters were everything! They were big, shucked properly, and tasted super fresh. It didn't need anything but the lemon but they did recommend us trying their housemade hot sauce. We did and we loved it, and ended up buying a bottle to take home. We also ended up ordering some more oysters for dessert (lol) -Seafood Chowder (squid, mussels, smoked coley, & prawns served with homemade brown bread) - this was full of seafood. It is heavy though since chowder is cream-based so I would recommend sharing this, as opposed to ordering one on your own. The brown bread was also very nice -Seafood Paella (paella rice, chorizo, mussels, gambas, squid rings, and smoked coley) - another dish filled with seafood. They don't skimp out here! I could have done without the squid rings (they tasted rubber-bandy, like they're from frozen), and the smoked coley. I'm not a huge fan of smoked foods. I didn't really taste it in the chowder - maybe the cream covered it up, but I was able to taste it more in the paella -Whiskey Scallops (cooked in whiskey butter) - very rich but the scallops were good. You definitely want to dip some of the brown bread in this sauce There were so many other dishes we wanted to try but we had to stop ourselves from ordering too much for two people. Fish and Chips are served soggy as I presume the oil is not hot enough to ensure a crisp finish whilst having flaky fish or the fish is not being cooked long enough. We have had nothing but trouble with fish and chips with soggy breading to undercooked breading of which numerous complaints have gone un-noticed and they fail to make good on bringing back their quality food under Maracaris. Fish needs to be freshly dipped in batter and not par-baked and then fried again regardless of demand, nobody likes soggy fish and chips. Pizza options have dropped since the change as well. The pizza needs a little more cooking underneath but I believe this happens less when the demand is less as their policy is free in 30 minutes however free doesn't make up for ill-prepared food. Romayos also advertises as a Diner. Having 2 seats which are barstools does not constitute a diner. Diner has a collection of seats so at least 3 couples can share a meal with ample room in a dining area. However clever the marketing scheme to put Diner to give the impression of a sit-down does not live up to its meaning when 2 seats are available. Macaris and Romayos needs to please step up their game to their prior good reputation but until then I would recommend to stay away as you will not be satisfied. Michael

The side of rich, brown gravy made up for it adding the right amount of saltiness to the beef. Carrots and peas were a tad soft, but flavorful and good mashed potatoes. I wasn't wild about the whole fried ones. The Yorkshire pudding was pretty dreadful and seemed to be backed hours prior because it was rubbery and chewy. The chicken curry was good, a little sweet, but good amount of curry flavor. Chips and rice were great. The onion rings were good. Not stellar, not bad. Just solidly good! Guinea's was perfect in terms of being served at the right temp and they have half pints, which made me happy! This place was very, very loud. It was distractingly loud, but if you want sports and good beer, you are in the right spot. Lots of families with little ones for dinner. Service was good.
