We asked the driver for a lunch recommendation and he suggested Nancy Hands. It was a good recommendation. It was close to a stop so we hopped off and had lunch. The restrauant is very neat with a cool vibe. We arrived about 1 p.m. and had to sit at the bar for about ten minutes for a table to open up. The restrauant is not on the tourist path (think Temple Bar area). We may have been the only non-Irish in the restrauant. It is rich in history and has a traditional Irsh look and feel. We ordered a couple of beers. Jan ordered a Blue Moon and I ordered a Carlsberg Pilsner. The beer on tap selection is impressive. For lunch we ordered a couple of items to share. Jan picked fish and chips, I selected calamari. Both were good and we enjoyed our first meal in Dublin. The service was good, the prices moderate. Definitely recommend it is you want a restrauant/pub that's not full of Americans.

Nice, quiet pub with good food. The staff is very friendly and checked on me frequently. I had the Guinness beef stew & it was some of the best I had on my whole trip. They served it with a generous portion of mashed potatoes down in the stew gravy so you can enjoy both with every bite. I definitely recommend giving this place a try especially if you want to get away from the louder pubs and just enjoy your meal.

Conveniently located near Kilmainham Gaol. A very hipster trendy looking joint, great for brunch…read more Their coffee game is top notch. Food is delish and portions are large. Irish Artisan Breakfast: Loved all the protein intensity! That was one massive sausage, which had a fun thin crispy skin semi-detached. Lots of bacon, with some bits tender and some bits crunchy. The blood pudding had a good grainy texture. The portobello was definitely a superior mushroom choice, giving lots of the umami. The tomato and hash browns were good contrasts to all the meat. Only thing missing was beans... why?

This was such a great find!…read more After visiting Kilmainham Gaol (which I highly recommend) and the Museum of Modern Art across the street I was looking for a late lunch and so glad I found Union8. I loved that they had 2 daily specials - one regular and one vegetarian (that was NOT a salad)! I also loved that the side that accompanied the specials was a spicy butternut squash soup And NOT fries. Nestled by the warmth of the restaurant (and a cold brew) - the food came out quick and was quickly inhaled. I ordered the vegetarian special which that day was a Vegetarian Sandwich with hummus. A bit too much eggplant for my taste but good nonetheless. I spied some of the other diners' dishes I have to say they looked delicious too. Its a great place to grab a bite if you are in the area.

Tried out this place for breakfast over the weekend and quickly became addicted to the overwhelming…read morehispterness of the place. The fact that the food is damn good is a happy plus too. The menu is simple and offers only a few options, my favourite kind of menu as I'm the sort who easily becomes overburdened with choice (first world problems). The interior has a lovely wooden finish to it that makes it feel like it's still a work-in-progress but, that's like, totally cool man. There's a long wooden bench on one side of the room & a few chairs & tables outside, perfect for summer vibes (if it happens to be sunny in Ireland) I went for the *organic* eggs & homemade beans and also a matcha green tea latte. Well the matcha tasted great, but the eggs & beans were really scrumptious. They came out in a cardboard box which actually just worked given the style of the place. It's a good sign when you're eating the food of a place that all you can think about is what everything else on the menu tastes like. I'll update with pics when I inevitably return. In short: A cool place to start your day & my new favourite place for weekend breakfasting. Those eggs though.

I was here for Cocu's grand opening on friday of last week. Now, I expected mistakes to happen,…read morewhich did, since it was their first day open. The tills broke as soon as they opened the doors, and we did have to wait a little past when they said they were opening because the staff weren't ready yet. Service was slow, but in fairness, there was a long line of people out the door. When you order, you select a main (the meat or main veggie part of your meal), your base (rice, greens, etc), and a sprinkle topping. I went for the Vietnamese chicken, on brown rice with spinach and crushed almonds. It came with a peanut butter vinaigrette, which was light enough to flavour the dish, but not too oily or overpowering. As someone else posted, the servings do look small. But, that being said, I was fairly full after eating mine, so I think it may just look a bit small because of the container it was in. I do, however, wish there had been more meat on my dish. My serving was definitely less than one full chicken fillet. BUT, the chicken that was on there was SO tender and juicy. Their breakfast menu looks like quite good, and I look forward to going back and checking out the breakfast menu. It's nice having more healthy options available for lunch in this area, and it's a fairly good price for lunch (7.50 for the box of food unless you get extras). The juices and other drinks there are more than I would pay, but price wise their food is pretty much the same as a burrito/bowl at tolteca across the street. This place is good, and has promise. It just needs to work out a few kinks before I can give it more stars. If their meat portions were just a bit larger, and they can get into a groove where they speed their service up, I'd say this place will do great.
