Igloos a definite MUST! So warm and cozy inside, ample room for our party of four. We did the Ski Apres igloo and enjoyed our 1.5 hr reservation for $55 (reservation for igloo only fee). Equipped with a Bluetooth speaker to complete the mood! Service was friendly as they were still working out details of this new feature. There were a couple times when we needed more wine or wanted to order more food and there were longer checkin gaps. With the reservation time being limited, we hoped for more frequent checkins. A group (4) of us met at Bertelsen Winery for sips and a light lunch. Free parking can be found in the ample gravel lot. Credit cards are an accepted form of payment. Tabs left open are subject to an 18% gratuity. Bertelsen Winery provides indoor and outdoor seating. Orders are placed at the counter. Table service is limited. The round wine barrel tables indoors allow conversing with everyone seated uncomplicated; eye contact and sound. Wine tasting fee is $15 and waived with the purchase of two bottles. Wine can be purchased by the glass or the bottle. Water is self-serve at the counter. Food items are light, ranging from cheese starters, salads and pizzas. During our visit we shared a few different bottles of wine, each of us favoring different blends. The White Blend bottle for $24 was a favorite for the couple ladies that preferred sweeter wine. We shared the Beet Salad for $16: Arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese, pickled red onions, pistachios and balsamic vinaigrette. We shared the Baked Brie for $16: Fig & Hazelnuts served with focaccia bread & crackers. We shared the Don't Go Bacon My Heart Pizza for $20: Olive oil, mozzarella blue cheese, pear, bacon, honey drizzle and rosemary. Staff was friendly. I rented the Rustic Igloo for a birthday celebration & wasn't disappointed. We had it for 1 1/2 hours & just had wine tasting & a charcuterie board but all of it was extremely good. The white blend was really good & I'm not a wine drinker. The charcuterie board was very fresh with a lot of options & the spicy olives were tasty. It's a family run business & the staff was very friendly, accommodating and attentive even when they seemed really busy. We had a lovely time here for Ladies Night, which is always a special event to look forward to in the summer. So many great vendors, live music, food, donkeys and let's not forget: wine! Everyone working the event was lovely and kind and helpful even through the crowds and constant busyness of bartending and serving. The restrooms were always available, parking was easy to manage and the location is right off the highway. Next year I would love to see desert available, the event condensed (start an hour later because it's often so hot), and some more variety in vendors and perhaps an added experience (photo "booth" or props/backdrops; crystals or tarot though I'm not sure that would be on brand; a cowboy boot vendor or shoe vendor; manicure/pedicure; massage; etc). Tried out the wine igloo as our first experience at this winery. We started with the tasters which came out on a really cute block with description cards for each. The wines were all okay, we found a couple we were willing to have more than a tasting of. It took a really long time to get service as we were outside, and no one came to check if we needed anything, we definitely would have bought more if they had, we even went inside after our bubble time was up and the people behind the bar never even asked if we needed anything. The appetizers were really good, we tried their pizzas which were horrible, I do not recommend. Overall it's worth trying but probably not frequenting. read more

What a disaster! Planned a whole birthday party around their summer concert series. My sister in law even flew out for the concert. When we got there, they had changed the rules without telling anyone and didn't allow food, even though two weeks before they did. Fine, we will buy the food and leave our food in the car. Then, the only food was scarce and it was $18 (!!!!!!!) for three slices of cheese and a handful of grapes for a "cheese plate." What a JOKE. Then they had people walking around harassing me about a "cooler" when it was just a bag with my jacket in it. Horrible. Food was overpriced, people were rude, and then the band was late on top of it all. Forget this place. Go to Trackside in Bellingham for an outdoor concert, wine and a good time. We each did a tasting, with a choice of any 4 of 9 varietals. There's live music on the weekends in summer, with a cover charge so buy tickets ahead of time. There's pizza and appetizers too. A beautiful sunny evening on the patio. Wonderful live music. I can't remember the artist's name but I think he said he was from Leavenworth. They have a small lawn area next to the patio for the kids to get their wiggles out while mom and dad have fun. Food was very diverse and excellent quality. Very friendly patrons. We had a fairly large group at our table(s) by the end of the evening so I was able to sample and see most of the menu. I recommend it all. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much. This is a big, fun winery to visit, and it's easy to get to--just a couple hundred yards from I-5. They have a huge patio and a big barn in addition to the main building with its own good-sized tasting room. Even when the weather's not that great it gets packed, but there's lots of seating. It was just packed enough that we got one of the last tables on our way in yesterday. The wines here are good, sometimes great. You can never have too many wineries like this--everything's enjoyable, across a wide variety of styles, and the prices are very reasonable. It would be easy to put up a bunch of their bottles and open them any time company comes over. We parked in gravel and walked in to the main tasting room, with the big bar stretched out almost to the front door. You see glasses at the ready, with 3 whites, a pink, and 4 reds on offer. They put out full tasting notes for every wine that's available, and they were all very reliable. If the pourers got too busy, I could easily just operate off the sell sheets by trusting the notes. We had the full flight of 8 sips, though, so deciding what to order was a moot point. The whites had tons of character; lots of flavor, nice body, acid in perfect balance. Chardonnay showing nice light oak and a bit of lemon. The rose was a keeper for sure as well. The reds were all right in the middle of the road; pleasant cab, syrah very flavorful without being overbearing, red blend you could drink all day. We had fun chatting with the pourers, and everyone here is super friendly. It almost feels like a big house party here when it's at its best moments. We grabbed three bottles to bring home, and fully expect to return regularly. read more

Went there on a Sunday to have wine tasting with my husband , unfortunately the experience was awful! We were told to leave our seating which was a gazebo area, we were enjoying our tasting until the waitress who had a mean look and very unprofessional told us to move to another area because members are going to be using the gazebo area, and after I told her that we asked if we could sit outside which one of the waitress said nicely oh yes, you can sit anywhere outside!! and by the way no signs at all that has members seating area so we chose the sunny gazebo area. After complaining to the waitress inside she apologized but felt she had to, without a care in the world! We liked the environment but the staff is awful and to made it worse, a waitress Denna said the wait time to become a wine member can take up to 3 years, sorry we are full and I wasn't asking to become a member but I told her we like wine tasting and we were members of a known brand but I told her we were picky and don't drink just any wine. After verifying their website there is no waiting period to become a member. Her facial expression said it all, she seemed she doesn't like minorities with her rude attitude she is definitely in the wrong business. If I were an owner I will definitely would not have people in my business with lack of customer service skills or treat anyone different. (lawsuits can damage the business reputations) At last we left with two bottle of wines and will not be coming back! Avoid this place at all cost! read more

My wife and I spent a Saturday evening using a gift card here that I received for my birthday. This is an incredible winery that we had not visited, offering some great food as well and a perfect ambience to enjoy it in! The staff were wonderful, especially Keri in the tasting room, and the pizzas were really superb. We purchased a couple extra bottles of their newest Pinot Grigio release that was perfectly paired and sat under an umbrella in the courtyard to enjoy it all. We were here earlier this year for the Blues festival....The blues festival was great, they allowed us to bring a small ice chest with non alcoholic drinks and food, it was fantastic... This time however, we schlepped an ice chest and the nazi told us no outside food or drink allowed, nothing printed on tickets or when we checked in at the parking lot... The Security guard was in my opinion to abrasive for me, the paying customer... They obviously have some details to work out, and in my opinion I may rethink coming back for another event... It is a beautiful place, they just need to work on the staff a bit, when you pay a ton for the tickets.......To make things worse, the band was late starting, they sounded awful, the food they had to purchase, was pizza and bbq.... Well, they ran out of pizza, and the bbq had a thirty min wait, because they were late starting too....I would just avoid coming here for the summer concert series, this place is completely mismanaged for these events.... I'm guessing this makes a really nice venue. The olives were some of the weirdest I've ever had and taste pickled. Very surprised to discover this winery existed 20-30min from our house! Definitely kid/family friendly! The staff were nice and cheerful. Service was quick. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of outdoor seating available. Most of the seats (with the exception of one table) don't have overhead cover. It's somewhat close to the highway, so while sitting outside, you can hear the cars on the freeway....it takes away from the ambiance a bit. Overall, I enjoyed the tasting experience. The wines are decent. I purchased the Rose (made from Malbec grapes). Prices are reasonable for the quality of the wine. Made a quick stop here after noticing their signage from the freeway. The vineyard there is quite small, but I learned they make their wines from grapes from a different area, but have plans for doing more bottling etc on premise in the near future. There is a nice room / event space that is present on site as well, though I didn't walk in due to an event being held there. Anyways, inside the tasting room, there is a small bar area and a small sitting area to grab a glass or wine or a tasting flight. $5 for 3 tastings or $10 for 5. I opted to try 3 - the riesling, the merlot rose, and a special they had. The wines I tried didn't really suit my palate and didn't have much depth or complexity of flavor. The server was friendly, but I had to ask for things like napkins and some table snacks to cleanse the palate (which were offered and present for other patrons there as they had their wine). I noticed that she also didn't clean out the residual wine from my glass prior to pouring the next 'taste', which other places typically do and muddled the flavors .. and she also didn't seem to know much about the wines nor could expand upon certain questions I had that related to the descriptions on the wines on the menu. Kind of an odd experience, but was glad to stop by and explore a place I normally drive by. read more
