I have been on the search for an authentic German Döner for years here in SoCal! This spot is as close as it gets!! I'm in LOVE

I've been looking for a good spot for doner kebab in LA. Berlins is a good choice for a good portion size and quality. I had a rice bowl with beef and lamb. Turns out hospital staff get a discount, so I'm glad I was still in my scrubs after work! The employee was so kind and friendly. It was pretty late so there were only the last bits of rice left. I said that was totally fine - and then he still gave me extra veggies for no extra charge to make up for it. I got the tzaziki on top which was a great choice. The rice was a little crunchy and dry, and the meat could have been more moist. But overall it was very delicious and I would come back for a decently portioned and affordable meal. read more

My wife ordered for the family today and mistakenly got me the house sauce. I took one bite and immediately knew something was wrong. My throat and airway felt tight and I asked my wife to call the restaurant and see if the house sauce had sesame in it. She called and asked, they said no, then I clarified does it have tahini in it (tahini is pure concentrated sesame) and they said yes (guys, you should know tahini is sesame). Ok, I'm glad I was quick to notice before any more damage was done. My wife took the wrap back and asked if they could remake it with tzatiki because she mistakenly got it with that severe allergen and they said no they couldn't. The cashier also questioned if my wife knew what she was ordering. Like dude, you work there and you didn't know tahini was sesame, there's no reason to be rude. And my wife and I have both worked restaurants, it's pretty standard practice to take allergens seriously. A good and inexpensive meal in an expensive part of town. I work next to the Beverly Center and have noticed that there isn't a ton of great value around for lunch unless you want to eat at Chain restaurant. I've been to Bernlins twice now and have had a salad and a doner sandwich. Both were tasty and very well balanced. You're not getting anything fancy and the have sauce options with very western flavors if you don't like Mediterranean food. It simply tastes good and doesn't break the bank. I would avoid getting the fries. They're just your basic frozen fries that you get at a cheap cafe. I was unimpressed. Ordering is easy. There's a QR code when you arrive and you just order through the website and the bring the food out to you. I'm sure this will change once the pandemic is over. read more

The bread has a nice chew to it and houses all of the tasty beef/lamb meat that has gotten a nice kiss of fire for that crispy sear. The toppings were all very fresh, from the lettuce to the tomatoes and my favorite - the cucumbers and the red onions/marinaded cabbage. I used to live in Berlin. One of the, if not the most popular food there is a doner. No matter what time of day, a good doner will hit the spot, especially after a fun night out. Germany has a huge Turkish population, inventors of this deliciousness, whereas CA does not. Doners are to Germany what Mexican food is to CA. You can find them everywhere at any hour out there. So when I was in the neighborhood in LA I was stoked to come across this shop because doner kebabs are super rare. I gave it a 3 for a couple of reasons. The flatbread used didn't taste as savory as what I'm used to, usually it's more grilled and oily, the one I got was soft and not grilled. The chicken and veggies were tasty but what through me off were the sauces. The menu had about 9 sauces, which is not traditional to a typical kebab spot. I chose the original and chef's special. I could barely taste any of the sauces. Usually a full bite will give me a nice rich umami flavor, this did not. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one here again. Plus! The price point was insane. I know we're not in Germany but 6 euros compared to $12, not worth it. I paid $22 in all with a side of fries and club-mate, I know I didn't have to do all that but I wanted to reminisce a bit of Berlin but it wasn't worth it. Interior: Not a ton of space to sit inside, big table was full, I waited at the bar by the drink fridge in back of a couple that was at the smaller table. Ended up eating in the parking lot. What a great find!! Lovey and I were hungry after checking out condos and so I YELPED and found this place! This place reminds me of the doner we had back in Stuttgart. Amazingly good!! Meat is super delicious and flavorful. Tsatziki sauce is delish and portions were right for the price. Lovey talked to the person behind the counter in German and guess he also came from Stuttgart. Parking in this strip mall is impossible so be patient or park across by the big mall. They have other locations as well but will definitely be going to this place again very soon. Honestly one of the lightest and not greasy "döner" wraps I ever had. It's sliced very thin and it's delicious. Very fresh and good. I had the beef and lamb with their secret sauce. They also have chicken and other options, including vegetarian options. And they have falafel.I You can order your döner on a pita, or wrapped, or as a salad...was very impressed that when I ordered to go they actually came outside and brought the bag to me. This place is delicious. We had the falafel pita and the falafel was crispy and perfectly flavored. We also had the beef and lamb plate with their special sauce. This was very tasty and large. I was able to take the other half of it home and had it for lunch the next day. I added some hot sauce to it for some kick but it was still just as tasty the day after. I would go back again. So good. Parking was open and free in the lot and we dined outside in a couple of parking spots they sectioned off for outdoor dining (covid). What a unique place! Run by a family of Germans with accents, the staff was very friendly and helpful when I was here. I had a doner sandwich with lamb and beef. It was HUGE but also delicious! I kind of wish that all of the contents were mixed up a bit more. Because the sandwich was so big, I had to go at it with a fork so I ate it top-down, and because of this, I would eat it would layer at a time, so I wish all the contents were mixed up evenly. I also had their almond milk tea with boba (so weird that they also have boba!) It was surprisingly good! And the boba was cooked well. It was a little on the sweeter side, but I've also had worse boba. Eating dinner here was really chaotic and loud, though, which is why I have to dock a star. The restaurant is very small, but it was really crowded when I came here, with kids and families running around. However, I would come back, and I'd recommend! Parking was a pain though. One of my go-to snack spots in LA when I need my döner fix. Compared to the real thing, it's as good as you gonna find it in Beverly Hills. However I feel like the owners should be more respectful for the history and culture of the food they are selling. I know that Döner is very popular in Berlin, actually became the most popular street food by far after introduced in Germany with the huge migration of Turkish workers back in 70s, yet the entire marketing of this place and the owner himself tries really hard to not mention anything about the origin and cultural heritage, which I found a bit odd to be honest. I also fail to see what's different about this specific German style, as it's served exactly the same way many places in Turkey, in addition to a hundred different ways based on locale. Maybe they are referring to a sauce they have here, I don't know. I wanted to just leave a positive review as I like the food here but I saw couple of comments by the owner himself here on Yelp saying that this is a German food, Turkish "style" is different, Doner itself is from Turkey and/or Greece etc. I just recommend him to do a little history research and also learn the etymology of the word. It would only help your business to be more authentic. Edit: Definitely not surprised about the owner's patronizing response to my review. Also not sure what is political about making a simple observation, which is unfortunately confirmed by the owner in person. I acknowledge that there is pretty good Doner available in Berlin (maybe due to millions of Turks living there, maybe:), just like there is pretty good Sushi available in Los Angeles with a lot of unique flavors (and managed by a diverse group of people as pointed out by the owner, which I find only positive), though I have yet to find a sushi joint that biasedly lectures its patrons about their own cuisinary culture instead of honoring the heritage of what they are selling and profiting of. The box was great! The French fries were perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside, soft inside. The beef meat was nice and tasty. No fat pieces like other spots. I keep trying this place because I really do miss some of the doners I had while traveling and TWICE in a row now that I'm highly disappointed Both times the orders were wrong, the meat was dry and no sauce of any kind just dry meat wrapped with some veggies. I've lived in Germany from 1992-1997 and I remember the Döner Kebabs vividly and to this day crave them. I was willing to do a pit-stop in Germany while on vacation in Europe just so I can order myself a döner. Well, needles to say I have found an authentic döner kebab in the middle of Los Angeles! It tastes just as good as I remember from Germany and all ingredients are the same - especially the thin shaved döner meat. The owner of the place (I think his name was Matthias) is as German as it gets - all around nice guy who makes you feel good and welcome. Totally reminds me of when I was in Berlin and would go get doner every night because they're so good! Got the doner wrap with beef and lamb with their original and chef's special sauce. I opted out of the feta cheese which was a huge mistake (I'm lacoste). But I had a bite with the feta cheese in the wrap and it's a total game changer and tasted soo much better. Get the feta cheese! Overall easy and chill place to grab a quick bite. The wrap is huge too. I just felt like the meat itself wasn't as tasty. Something was missing and they didn't give as much meat as I wanted.
