Located right in the heart of Berkeley Springs, you can walk to all the spots in downtown. The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. The pub has limited seating options. But its well worth the stop.

I don't believe there was a duxelles or ham so it was more of a Meatloaf En Croute. That said the pastry really didn't add anything. The Demi Glaze was next level though as were the mashed potatoes. But I consider myself a very light sleeper, so the average person will probably not have issues with this. The place is very clean and comfortable. I stayed in the Rumsey Suite. The bathrooms are modern and have fantastic jetted tubs. The bed was very comfortable. My room had a white noise machine, ceiling fan, a large closet, free wi-fi, and even electric candles for a romantic touch. They offer a continental breakfast with a lot of options and a Keurig machine for coffee. There is a nice patio out back overlooking the brook. Parking is easy, free and right outside. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly - happy to chat and answer questions about the area - but did not impose on the guests. The decor is cleaner and simpler than most B&Bs, which was a huge draw for me! I don't like rooms full of creepy dolls and tons of old lace. I would recommend this location. The back room with the two twin beds probably has the best view.

My husband and I went during an off weekend in early February. We checked in to our room in the afternoon and were shown the common rooms and locations of the coffee, tea and cocoa. Breakfast was served from 8:30 to 10:00 at nice little 'tables for two' buffet style. I really enjoyed the fact that although B&Bs are notoriously more personable than hotel/motels, this one doesn't force you into sitting at a big 'family' style table for all meals. Yes, there are resident cats. We saw about three milling about though out the weekend, they were not underfoot. The rooms were very clean and I am not a cat owner, but never smelled any 'cat' or litter box smells. (nor saw any litter boxes) We stayed in the Algernon room. I specifically chose this room for the big spa tub that is located in a separate room. I took several soaks in it and aways had hot water. The bathroom had a large window,basic sink, porcelain tub with a integrated shower. It also had a nice little vanity table with mirror. I found the bathroom to be fairly roomy and was heated nicely. The bedroom had many windows and a nice table and 2 chairs. It was very cozy and comfortable. Bed was a queen and mattress was nice, not hard or worn out. It seemed like all of the doors has big cracks in them, but I just chalked this up to 'character'...and the fact that everything is kind of vintage. The hostess that checked us in offered some dining choices and even made reservations for us for that evening. The Inn is in easy walking distance to many of the restaurants and also the shops and spas. It was hideously cold, but we braved the low temperatures to walk to dinner that evening. We were also celebrating my husband's birthday this weekend and they had a nice little bouquet of balloons for him in our room($20) when we checked in. We brought our own wine and Barbara (the hostess) sent up a cute little tray with 2 wine glasses. We both found our stay here to be very relaxing and even the soap had an intriguing smell. They accidentally kept my credit card at the desk and when I asked for it the next day they told me they didn't have it. Then I asked her to double check "sir, I already double checked" she said. (Rude, and not true unless she can predict the future and double checked before I asked!) I insisted she look again, because I knew it was there. Eventually she looked, it was there (of course) and she didn't even apologize. Simply rude. I feel a touch bad leaving this review, because it is a family owned and run business, but they are not providing a service -- more like a scam. The only way I would stay here again is if I was literally unable to afford any other option in Berkeley Springs. Every other place in town is great.

The home is an interesting place, an old home with random additions stairways and nooks everywhere. Kinda fun in a quirky sort of way. Maria's used to be an Italian restaurant. The restaurant owner loved collecting Christian religious artifacts, and much of that collection still remains here. I mention that because some of the older negative reviews refer to that restaurant and not the garden in by the same name. Different owners, different business. The Inn is what gets my review here.
