    Breakfast room

Wonderful base for bike rides on the C&O Canal towpath. Comfortable room, lovely shared spaces, secure place to keep your bike. Self service breakfast and snacks include everything you could want. Thanks so much!

When the sun went down, the fireflies came out. Magical.

My friend and I had an overnight at the 1878 RiverRun B&B as a mutual birthday gift. What a lovely experience!

Shower worked well and the towels were also clean with good water pressure. I arrived at close to midnight and stayed for the morning, using their wifi to get some work done until check out time at 11. The hotel has a AAA discount and there is plenty of parking. Breakfast options are extremely limited but the coffee was decent. Have I stayed in better hotels? Yes. Have I stayed in worse? Absolutely yes. But at this price point, it was great. I probably wouldn't stay here with my wife but for just me, I would stay here again. [Review 15546 overall, 1050 of 2021, number 614 in Maryland.]

I was surprised but said ok, here's my debit card. Nope, cash only. I'm sorry but that is really shady. You can take a card for incidentals but not this random pet fee? I didn't have cash and my naive 10 year old daughter announced she had money to give so our family dog could stay with us. Front desk man said, "Oh that's nice " and took her money. Shameful. Plus during my check in he interrupted the process to address a rough look young man behind me that had cash in his hand to which the front desk said, "I'll take whatever you got." Seemed like he hadn't fully paid for his stay or something. So after getting my young daughter, dog and husband inside and passing some questionable characters loitering drinking and smoking in the parking lot, we get in our non-smoking room that Snell's extremely like smoke and must and damp grossness. Cigarette burns in the furniture and blankets. Antenna tv so 3 channels. We we close to sleeping in our car but we're nervous about it being safe in the parking lot. More than slow renovations is the problem here. Guests beware.

Located right in the heart of Berkeley Springs, you can walk to all the spots in downtown. The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. The pub has limited seating options. But its well worth the stop.

We opted not to have housekeeping come, so would have been nice to have had a broom or dustpan handy since it's Spring and we were all bringing in mud / dirt on our shoes, but otherwise was well appointed for two people traveling with a dog (altho the 2 little side chairs could have been more comfortable, and it would have been good to have a designated place to put the dogs bowls). The staff was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation, and were all wonderful in-person, too. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which had good home-cooked food, but the young waiter needs training; he came over when we were still eating and asked what we thought about dessert. It wasn't crowded, so I don't understand why we were rushed through our meal. We didn't end up going back because there are so many other dining options in the town or nearby, but it's definitely a plus to have a restaurant on-site when traveling with a dog.

Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

If you like clean bathrooms, functioning HVAC, and nice quiet bedrooms, do not stay at this hotel…read more And when you report issues to management, they have only excuses or don't bother replying. We stayed here for two nights in December. At first glance everything seemed very nice in Room 205 but then, in looking at the bathroom, I realized there was lots of dust and hair behind the bathroom door (photo). I was going to ignore it, but then we couldn't get the HVAC to work, so I went down to the front desk. The desk manager showed us a second room (same problems), a third room (same problems with the addition of brown spots on the ceiling). We were given a fourth room - a suite - on the third floor. This room was not updated like the first few rooms but at least the HVAC was working, and at first glance everything seemed clean. At this point it was 10pm so we got ready for bed. I looked into the shower only to find a big gob of black hair in the drain (photo). I decided to leave it for the morning. We shuffled into bed (photo) and listened to the windows rattling in the windy night along with all the traffic of Main Street (surprisingly a lot). In the morning, I showed the front desk a photo of the shower situation and asked for housekeeping to take care of it. He said they don't have housekeeping on weekends. What?! I've never stayed at a major hotel chain without daily housekeeping. Also an AI search of the hotel on Facebook mentions "daily housekeeping." Each room contained a letter (photo) from Jefferey Shepherd, VP of Operations, urging patrons to text or call with any issues. I texted him for the first time during our stay (with no reply). We avoided the shower stall horror show and showered at a nearby relatives' place - super inconvenient. We also noticed a dirty chair in the living room - like someone peed on it (photo). That night we tried watching TV but couldn't get any of the three remotes to work (photo). At least we got a decent night's sleep the second night. Sunday morning we went to the front desk to check out, rang twice for the clerk (photo) but he never showed up, so I left the room keys on his chair and left. Skip the cold breakfast, which is all they offer, and walk up the block to One North (photo) for a hot meal and delicious gourmet coffee. I called Jeff Shepherd after returning home. We had a cordial conversation and he offered to refund our stay (over $300) which I gratefully and thankfully accepted. One week later, still no refund so I texted him, which he read and again didn't bother replying. Another week passed, I called him again and left a voicemail asking why he changed his mind about the refund. More time passed and I emailed the company that manages the James Buchanan - Capital Hotels. STILL no response, so I'm forced to include a mention of the awful customer service in addition to the dirty hotel. I don't mind old, historic places, but they shouldn't be this dirty, and the HVAC should be in good working condition. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the other hotels down the street. I know we will.

People seem to either love the hotel or hate it and it seems to depend on what type of room they choose. We were in town for a wedding and stayed 2 nights here. We chose a basic room with a queen bed. Upon arrival, the room looked cute and cozy. The bed had a decorative iron frame and was situated in front of a window that overlooked the street. That's where the good stuff ends. Our tv didn't work, the bathroom door didn't close, and the noise level was unbelievable. We tried to turn on the in-room minisplit to add some ambient sound, but that didn't help. The room was situated above Main Street and that street is busy all night long. The windows have very little sound insulation, so that made for a rough night's sleep. The bathroom was nice and they had great quality toiletries: Beekman 1802 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We liked that the shower had both a waterfall head and a handheld one. I will say that when we visited the Pub & Restaurant on the main level, we were very impressed. The bartender that was working Friday night supplied us with some of the best cocktails we have had in a long time. She made whiskey sours with just whiskey, lemon juice and egg whites. Those were a thousand times better than ones made with that nasty premade sour mix. She also whipped up a lavender drink with gin that was heavenly. I was sad when the pub closed at 9pm. That was the best part of the hotel.
