Located right in the heart of Berkeley Springs, you can walk to all the spots in downtown. The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. The pub has limited seating options. But its well worth the stop.

We opted not to have housekeeping come, so would have been nice to have had a broom or dustpan handy since it's Spring and we were all bringing in mud / dirt on our shoes, but otherwise was well appointed for two people traveling with a dog (altho the 2 little side chairs could have been more comfortable, and it would have been good to have a designated place to put the dogs bowls). The staff was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation, and were all wonderful in-person, too. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which had good home-cooked food, but the young waiter needs training; he came over when we were still eating and asked what we thought about dessert. It wasn't crowded, so I don't understand why we were rushed through our meal. We didn't end up going back because there are so many other dining options in the town or nearby, but it's definitely a plus to have a restaurant on-site when traveling with a dog.

Only a 2 hour drive from D.C., the magic starts working when you are greeted by Ann and Leo - a couple who knows what living harmoniously means. Their warmth, tips and delicious cooking will ensure you have exactly the great time you want. Their house is beautiful, built and decorated with taste. In a previous life, Ann and Leo were antique furniture dealers. Do ask them about their unique pieces, you will depart wiser. The wrap around porch will ensure you can enjoy the sun (or stay away from it) all day. The garden is gorgeous. The mornings there are truly glorious, especially when enjoying a good cup of coffee and the trickling sound of the fountain. On some nights, Leo builds a bonfire, and, man, does life get good on those nights! Just appreciate the warmth and the stars. You'll go home a new person.

Everything from the grounds to the fountain with the frogs, even the cat and dog welcomed us. Breakfast was wonderful and this bed and breakfast is far from the noise of the city but close enough to drive into town and there and wonderful restaurant to pick from. As an added bonus it's just a few minutes from the cute town of Berkeley springs. Great shopping and farmers markets. I highly recommend this place if you want a quiet getaway.
