The Mendenhall has it all. it has excellent accommodations and excellent hosts. I'm fairly sure you won't find a better homemade breakfast or cup of coffee in the area. If you attend in winter you'll partake in the Sunday festivals and cozy indoor breakfast. If you visit in warmer months you'll get to eat breakfast on the outdoor wrap around porch. The innkeepers provide solid recommendations so their guests have the best experiences while staying in the town of Bath.

A wonderful stay! Even though this B&B has been open for a short time, Greg and Claire are amazing that you would think they had been open for a while. A great location downtown you're in great walking distance to shops, restaurants, and Berkley Springs State Park. The rooms are nicely appointed and there were some wonderful little touches, from the personalized note on our bed when we arrived to the lovely bath products. Also there were some lovely fall touches in our room as far as the decor. Breakfast was great, expect enough to give you a smaller breakfast but I was full enough for a while. Also they have terrific coffee and teas too! The house is beautiful there is a lovely covered front porch for you to just sit and watch the world go by. A few things to keep in mind, there are two spaces for guests to park next to the house, but we ended up parking on the street thankfully there were spaces in front of the house. There is a parking lot to the left of the house but that is designated for other businesses so don't park there. We absolutely enjoyed our stay there and can't wait to return again.

I cannot rave enough about our weekend at Mendenhall 1884 B&B with Innkeepers (and new friends!) Claire and Greg. The town is delightful, the inn is gorgeous, and Claire and Greg went above and beyond to attend to every little detail of our stay.    We opted to reserve a charcuterie board and wine upon arrival.  "Claire" must be short for "clairvoyant" because she served my husband and I our favorite wine.  And the food--my GOODNESS it was worth the trip alone!  For the board, Claire selected fruits, cheeses, and baked goods sourced from the town of itself. Greg then delighted us with the history of the inn and stories of the town.  It was like an evening spent with long lost friends.   The rest of the weekend was just as lovely. Claire and Greg provided delicious breakfasts and recommended activities and restaurants for our stay. I absolutely love how they've carefully preserved the history of the home while aiming to highlight the charm of the town. We officially consider ourselves regulars. We can't wait to see their continued plans for the property emerge as they help to revitalize the town.

We stayed with Greg and Claire in late July and it was simply an exquisite time! They made you feel at home, from wine and conversation on the front porch at night to neat stories about how their relationship with the town urges growth both for them and the town. They had great suggestions about where to go and what to see while we were in Berkeley Springs. The location of the Mendenhall 1184 B&B is so unique, because it's walkable to almost everything in town that you want to see and do. Breakfasts were included and were so delicious and pleasant. Our room was delightfully decorated and our bathroom was also super cute! They thought of everything it seems, from a wine cooler to borrow a bottle of wine and leave another later if you didn't have time to grab something before you got there, to a cute little ice machine to cool down your drinks on the porch, to a room where you can book a local masseuse to come for a massage. We WILL go back! Thank you Claire and Greg, for such a great time!

    Gorgeous parlor!

If you have a craving for true West Virginia nature and stellar views for a weekend, book your stay at Mendenhall 1884. The owners are so kind and genuine. They have truly thought of everything to make their guests feel like they are at home-a clear success and we'd stay there over and over. Claire did an amazing job of catering to a long list of food sensitivities, which isn't easy to do on the road. Just. do. It. You won't be disappointed.

One more block to the main shopping area. and two blocks from Lot 12 resThe only problem about the location is that it is very close to the main road through town and there was some noise from trucks breaking for the nearby stoplight. But I consider myself a very light sleeper, so the average person will probably not have issues with this. The place is very clean and comfortable. I stayed in the Rumsey Suite. The bathrooms are modern and have fantastic jetted tubs. The bed was very comfortable. My room had a white noise machine, ceiling fan, a large closet, free wi-fi, and even electric candles for a romantic touch. They offer a continental breakfast with a lot of options and a Keurig machine for coffee. There is a nice patio out back overlooking the brook. Parking is easy, free and right outside. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly - happy to chat and answer questions about the area - but did not impose on the guests. The decor is cleaner and simpler than most B&Bs, which was a huge draw for me! I don't like rooms full of creepy dolls and tons of old lace. I would recommend this location. The back room with the two twin beds probably has the best view.

Located right in the heart of Berkeley Springs, you can walk to all the spots in downtown. The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. The pub has limited seating options. But its well worth the stop.

We opted not to have housekeeping come, so would have been nice to have had a broom or dustpan handy since it's Spring and we were all bringing in mud / dirt on our shoes, but otherwise was well appointed for two people traveling with a dog (altho the 2 little side chairs could have been more comfortable, and it would have been good to have a designated place to put the dogs bowls). The staff was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation, and were all wonderful in-person, too. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which had good home-cooked food, but the young waiter needs training; he came over when we were still eating and asked what we thought about dessert. It wasn't crowded, so I don't understand why we were rushed through our meal. We didn't end up going back because there are so many other dining options in the town or nearby, but it's definitely a plus to have a restaurant on-site when traveling with a dog.
