The food was average at best. Nothing to write home about especially the quiche and the muffins. If they want more stars, it is the little things that matter.

They recently opened up The Living Room area in the lobby which has breakfast in the morning and snacks and drinks in the evening. They also gave us drink tickets as well to use on coffee or drinks. Breakfast starts at 8am, but I am an early riser and was hoping for a coffee while I watched the sunrise. I did make a tea with the electric kettle in the room. The lobby/Living Room set up is perfect for drinks, not so much for a family having breakfast. They do sell local Michigan snacks, but you have to ask at the front desk and they have to find them. I would've just preferred a vending machine or an easier way to get snacks between 8pm and 8am when the Living Room is not open. The pool and jacuzzi were great, but we did have a hard time finding them. The indoor pool entrance was through an unmarked door on the second floor so it took us a few minutes of exploring to find it. I don't think the indoor pool was heated, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel is very centrally located so it was just a short drive to the beach, restaurants, and shopping.

The hotel also provides bikes to rent but we found that most places are walking distance and the roads/paths are not very bike friendly. Check in was super simple. Our room was very clean and updated. I wish they had smart TVs to connect to Netflix but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyways so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant did seemed to get a bit noisy at night which drifted up to our room. The breakfast baskets were a BIG hit! The frittatas tasted so good! The fruit cups were also so fresh. I tried the prosciutto croissant on our last day which hit the spot. The quality of food was top notch - just wish we were able to order more! I had an appointment at the spa as well during our stay. The spa staff is super friendly. I used the robe and spa slippers provided in our room and spent some time in the salt water pool and hot tub before my appointment.

We stayed on the 3rd floor and the room was quiet, only heard at times people walking and taking in the hallway. The bathroom and room was clean, walk in shower had good water pressure. The room itself is comfortable, but we did have difficulty fully closing the blackout curtains (we used a hanger with the clamps to keep it closed for privacy at night). The bed is ok, spring mattress with pillow top cover. The room also had a mini fridge, microwave, and safety deposit box. When you check in you also get a $10 coupon to use for grubhub to order from local restaurants. Breakfast is free and standard for typical Hampton Inn's.

I thought it was awesome that everyone around us stayed up super late sitting around the campfires singing, cooking, and drinking. My husband and I stayed in an A frame cabin which was adorable and had a big private fire pit with chairs all around it. Only draw back was it didn't have any AC. We got lucky and the nights were cool. My in-laws stayed in on of the large pines and they had an AC unit. At $75 a night you can't go wrong. I am definitely planning on coming back here again with a big group of friends next spring.

There's also a lot of local brochures and an awesome DVD collection. We stayed over the rainiest weekend of all time. The cabin was cozy and we certainly enjoyed that amazing DVD collection- something for everyone. There is wifi which seemed a tad slow, but given the location and weather I was not surprised by that. The cabin stayed toasty even though we didn't turn up the thermostat or light the wood stove. The hot tub was quite nice for an evening when it finally stopped raining for an hour. Bill's Cabin is totally adorable in its rustic décor, and we absolutely loved the cat theme too! We were also told the cabins are pet friendly. Breakfast in the morning is great- pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit (HUGE honey crisp apples!!), juice, coffee. Great company with other guests and the owner, AJ. When we arrived the first night (around 8pm due to crazy weather), AJ was waiting and ready to give us a little tour. He even directed us to some local restaurants that would still be serving dinner. Location is a short drive to all the tourist locations and just a couple blocks from the lake. This place is seriously unreal with quaint, calm vibes. I left feeling incredibly refreshed, and immediately wanting to book another stay. Dogs are welcome here, and mine seemed right at home. She quickly figured out how to let herself out of the screened porch, and was happy to explore the cabin. Also it's within a 15 minute drive from the Grand Mere State Park with a dog friendly beach. This place is excellent for groups, since the price is very reasonable if you have 4-6 people stay in a cabin. I recommend Harbor Country Cabins to anyone looking for a short summer respite.

We worried about a number of things, but it turned out to be a fantastic family gathering. It easily accommodated about 30 of us. My parents brought there fifth wheel, and parked in the drive way. there was plenty of parking. For fun we cooked together (there is a grill, microwave) talked around the fire and we went across the street to the park and played a bunch of games. HCC has a lot of games available for guest already there. the beds were great. it's my kind of glamping - Glamorous camping. my wife and i were worried about the street and traffic noise and danger, but it didn't prove to be a problem. and lastly, Nicollete who runs the HCC, is ridiculously helpful and kind.

We have 4 people in the room and they keep leaving only 3 big towels. Not sure what the reason is. The breakfast is standard. Although the mini waffle maker is very neat. Eggs sometimes get replenished sometimes not. There's one set of laundry machines cost $2 each in quarters. We booked here because of the review for Hampton inn across the street is terrifying (bed bugs). However I can't recommend this hotel. Not sure any other hotels in the area is any better. Maybe we should stay a bit further out next time.
